Report: McNabb Benched Because of Poor Work Habits

I don’t know what is going with former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. Everybody knows that McNabb was benched this Sunday by Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier in favor of rookie first round draft pick Christian Ponder.

Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network says McNabb was benched by Frazier because of his poor work habits. Lombardi said McNabb was the last one to get to the Vikings workout facility each morning and the first one to leave in the afternoon.

He said McNabb is having trouble learning the new offensive system, plus the team was 1-5 with him at the helm. The veteran quarterback, whom many consider the best quarterback in Eagles history is totally destroying his reputation.

Last year in Washington with the Redskins, people gave him the benefit of the doubt, but that fact that some of the same things are being said about him in Minnesota pretty much drives a stake into his defenses against the charges.

“Donovan hasn’t really been putting the time in,” Lombardi said. “I was told by people in the Vikings organization: ‘He’s the last one in the building, he’s the first one gone, he’s not willing to put the time in, late for meetings, late for practice.’

“It happened in Washington [too]. This is the reason he’s not in Washington. And if you go back and talk to people in Philadelphia there was questionable work habits. Now, Donovan is going to say, ‘Hey, look, that’s not all true,’ but the reality of the situation is Minnesota knew this.”

G, I was listening to your show last nite on Wip. I am a little surprised to hear that about Mcnabb’s work ethic. Although, I was starting to see signs of his decline when he was here in Philly but it appears that things have really gone downhill with him since he left. I hate to say this but I do think maybe its time for him to consider hanging up the cleats permanently. He is a smart guy and would probably be great as a sportscaster.

Someone put this man out his misery for his is ruining his entire repuation as a Professional Athlete and at one time ,a Top 10 QB in the NFL but as we all know, the NFL stands “Not For Long” and is a what have you done for me lately type of business… He is clearly aloof in his thinking and comments about being surprised that he was benched by a 1-5 Viking Team that is going absolutelly nowher.. Hang it up McNabb for now you are starting to embarrass yourself like Brett Farve did.. and again I will speak the truth about no HOF for McNabb.. He was a good NFL QB, but not an “Elite” one for long enough over his Career and his 1-5 Overall Record in his 6 Biggest games of his Career prove this out .. He was never simply a QB who could say, Put this game or team on my back, and I will lead you to Victory..Brian Westbrook/Brian Dawkins were the real Heart & Soul & Leaders of these good Eagles Teams from the 2000’s and not McNAbb

thats a shocker…. McNabb has never been the same QB when he put on 20 plus pounds back in 2007-2008…. he is overweight and w/o his wheels he is an average QB

G, now go back and read the report where Leslie Frazier said it’s ridiculous that anyone would even say that about McNabb since he has been coming to practice early and leaving late. So who do you believe? Same thing last year when Shanahan denied those reports. Now it could be them just covering up for them or just some erroneous reporting like we see on a daily basis. Either way, it doesn’t matter because he got benched because he isn’t good enough. Period.

“Ridiculous,” Frazier said, via Bob Sansevere of the Pioneer Press. “Flat-out ridiculous. I don’t know where that would come from. I mean, this guy worked his tail off when he was the starting quarterback, staying after practice, throwing balls with receivers. When I heard about that, ‘Wow, where would that come from?’”

So obviously someone is lying. Just like the “report” that Andy offered defensive consultant job to Eric Mangini which has since been denied by both Mangini and Andy Reid. Go figure.

Michael Lombardi looks like his work habits are lax.

Sources of mine from the Twin Cities stated to me that McNabb would rather Attend the Buddy Ryan DInner Nov 8th with former Eagle players from the Buddy Ryan era than play QB for the last place VIkings..

Who gives a crap about McPuke! He got traded 3 years too late. Just like Andy’s expiration date expired 3 years ago. We have our own problems to worry about.

Man I’m runing out of defenses for this guy. I really liked Donovan and thought he was a great QB for us but this is sad. Still though, if he could lower his expectations, I’d LOVE to have him here as our BACKUP to Vick rather than Vince Young or Kafka… He sure knows the coach and the offense.
