Eagles Quit, As Young’s Turnovers Doom Them Against The Seahawks

I just don’t even know what to say. Vince Young was just awful. I truly cannot wait for Michael Vick’s return next Sunday in Miami. Young’s inconsistency and his brutal turnovers are what helped the Eagles drop their second straight. He finished 17 for 29 with 208 yards, one touchdown pass (a shovel pass) and  four interceptions.  Young’s quarterback rating was a measly 52.7.  I don’t care if ts on the road, he must play better.  I think he’s better than this.

“I just have to take care of the ball,” Young said following an embarrassing Eagles 31-14 oss.

“Four turnovers, it’s tough to win ballgames that way,” head coach Andy Reid said afterward before repeating his mantra.  “It’s my responsibility to make sure we play better.”

The former Tennessee Titan quarterback was bad from the start. On his first pass, he rolled out and tried to get the ball down the field to Jackson. However, the ball was nowhere near Jackson and was intercepted by Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor. This was a horrible decision.

I should have just took off and ran,” Young said. “Me and D-Jack were just not on the same page, I thought he was going to come back to it but when I released it, he didn’t.  So, that was on the quarterback.  That was my fault.  I just have to take care of the ball and use my legs a little bit more on plays like that.”

I don’t know what Young was thinking with this throw. There was no one open on this play. The Eagles paid for it after Marshawn Lynch ripped off another TD run, that put the Seahawks up 14-0 early.

The Eagles got the ball back next, and Young’s play improved. He made a couple of nice throws to Riley Cooper on multiple occasions. He even found Cooper for a big gain, even though he was late with the throw.  This was one of his only positive drives.

Let’s flash forward to the 4th Quarter. The Eagles were down by 10, and they were on the Seahawks 22.  Young dropped back, and scanned the field. He wanted to go to DeSean Jackson, but he was covered. Young then tried to flip it to McCoy. However, for some reason, he didn’t see Seahawks linebacker David Hawthorne who closed in on the ball and intercepted it.  The big linebacker preceded to run it back for a touchdown.  This was a bonehead decision. I still don’t know what he was looking at. The linebacker was standing there with McCoy the whole time, and there was no reason that Young didn’t see him. This was the knockout punch in this game, and in the Eagles season.

Young was bad in this game, but it really doesn’t matter. The Eagles season is over, and he is the team’s backup quarterback. He will be somewhere else next year and we will have to deal with how to fix this team. Its just ridiculous how this season has unfolded. It started with high expectations, and has ended in misery for all Eagles fans. This team just doesn’t get it.

They don’t play with one ounce of effort, and it seems that Andy Reid has just lost his team. The message just gets stale after hearing it over and over. Its clear that this is the case. This team is better than what they showed tonight. They just don’t want it enough. They have no leadership, and constantly look out of place.

That starts from the top with Reid, yes its your “job”Its not just his message, but its his time in Philadelphia that is fading fast. I believed after Sunday that Reid would survive, but with changes on his coaching staff. I’m not so sure anymore. The only way I thought that he would be let go is if his team faded down the stretch and they are now.

I cant wait for January, when we can talk about how to improve this team. I know we will have a coaching change of some sort, but other than that I don’t know what will go down. I know what SHOULD go down, but I cant control that. We all can just wait and see. I have a feeling that our wishes will all be answered.

This team is FUBAR & a cluster f^#@! I’m embarrassed to be an Eagles fan. This might be the most disgraceful team of mutts, that I’ve ever seen! If anyone of you @$$clowns comes on here & defends DJax, or VY, should just kill yourself, because you are useless to humanity. DJax M I A again, sulking by himself on the sideline, & VY is flat out f^#@ing dog-meat. 9 interceptions in 3 games! NINE!!!! He is a stupid, f^#@ing stiff, waste of $$$!!! Worst red-zone DF & OF in the league. Worst turnover ratio in the league. LB’s & Safeties are non-existent! Where the hell is Cole, & Asante. Where are the big play’s. Damn, i’ll take a f^#@ing simple tackle. Reid & his entire staff of @$$clowns needs to be fired tomorrow. DJax & Samuel need to be released tomorrow. The entire safety & LB corps, need to be exiled to Siberia immediately! This is a disgrace to the entire city & it’s fan base. I will not waste my time watching another game this year, unless changes are made. F^#@ them, & f^#@ you Reid, you stupid, stubborn, arrogant, condescending, pompous, wanna be elitist, no it all! You quit your entire team quit. You should save face & resign immediately! That would be “doing a better job,” you @$$hole!!!

They quit last night. Clearly the turnovers and soft defense doomed this team. Vince Young is not a starting qb anymore…..period…..

Jeffery Lurie needs to give us an early Xmas and relieve Andy of his duties and bring some fresh blood in here.

The funny thing is I actually think most of them (djack aside) were trying. I saw some plays that showed that. The problem is they aren’t good enough. Vince’s INT are a result of him being bad and forcing the ball. Djack is just a punk. I agree the eagles did him dirty but you still have you be a professional and take pride in your craft. Now all of a sudden Philly fans supposed to accept half hearted play when we never accepted that and ran out players who gave it their all each time? GTFOH. Team stinks some of these attitudes need to go. It’s embarrassing but we ball together, we fall together.

It is very apparent that especially on the Defensive Side, the tweam has no confidence of what they are doing.. See J Chaney screaming and waving over to Castillo all game long to get the play and coverages in.. Players are moving all over the place at the snap of the ball with half of them out of postiion.. The Seahawks ran about the same 10-12 Plays/Formations all game long and the Eagles D and Coaching Staff had no answer for it
Offensively, the Eagles started to run the ball late in the 3rd Quarter when already down by 2 Score’s…Where was this in the beginning of the game.. There was little doubt to me that McCoy could have had a monster game if they came out of the gate establishing the run, instead they put the ball in VY hands with 2 mediocre WR’s (D-Jax/Cooper) and basically lost the game in the first half going down 17-7 to a fired up Seahawk Team displaying more heart and pride than the Eagles…
I bet the Eagles could have ran that Stretch play behind LT J Peters all night long but chose not to… Complete Team loss.. VY is not Starter material Ffor most teams in the NFL, he has no zip and floats almost ever pass which takes too long to arrive to receivers and gets picked, deflected or receivers get tatooed.. and then on a few good passes, the Eagles medicore Receiving Group drop the ball, don’t turn their heads around or want no part of contact… I stated 2 years ago that Eagles WR were average when everyone raved on how great the “Young Guns” were going to be in which I never bought into the hype…. The WR Group are collectively in the bottom 1/3 of the NFL in my opinion just like the entire Team and Franchise are… Many teams improved over the last 2 years while the Eagles have become worse and worse and next Season doesn’t look any better to me.. .

This team has #noheart #nopride.. ive seen this team play well when everything was going great on the field but once an ounce of adversity hits them they fold quicker than andy finishes his breakfast. Yes andy lost this team but this team was lost back in the off season when they hired juan “me dont know” castillo to be the defensive coordinator. What an arrogant cocky move by andy. He underestimated the degree of importance a seasoned experienced defensive coach has on a team. Then u hire a dline coach with this system called the “wide9” when even ur momma would know requires that u have smart physical linebackers that can play the run. And dlinemen that can not only be just pass rushers but also run stoppers! Babin gets abused every play, hes gone after this yr, trent cole may be done here.. really the only one i would consider keeping is cullen jenkins the rest are expendable. The eagles lack of quality drafts and good coaching is coming back to bite them. The rory segrest days of coaching when all these guys were young draft picks has stunted there growth and now many are going into there 4 and 5th seasons or more.. the safeties cant cover anyone, they seem slow they cant tackle, no instincts whatsoever. The offense has looked just as bad as the defense this year.. again still not running the ball at key junctures of the game. Mccoy has had to make his carries count bc he doesnt know when hes gonna get the ball again which is sad bc hes the best back in the game in my opinion.. they should of paid desean a long time ago before any of this got out of hand. And im talking about during the offseason when he was holding out. The oline is still leaky… its just been a horrible year and if this isnt enough for andy to be fired then idk what will convince this front office that ita time for him to go.. andy gotta go and i dont usually speak like this against him but its time to go he should just step down… drafting these small linemen these linebackers these tightends these safeties.. its rrally biting this team while the other teams have monsters defense and offense… this team is an embarrassment and disgrace and im very disappointed in the whole thing. There is nothing to be happy about.. its time to blow this team up bottom line.. bc its not only a coaching flaw but its a drafting philosophy flaw too thats been there for years.. and reid needs to take off that stupid superbowl ring from his qb coaching days with the packers.. take it off… i dont have much more i wanna say about this team this is why im turning my attention to the sixers at least they have upside and can score the ball and will play defense for there coach doug collins, SOMETHING THAT HE DEMANDS OR THEY WONT PLAY.. thats not something andy demands… no more jim johnson to handle all defensive side of the ball priorities… andy should not be here anymore.. time to make the change and blow this team up…

Some say Reid is a good coach, which leaves me with one question. How do you identify a poorly coached team.

Paulman you are so right! Why in the HELL do we constantly put VY in positions to lose the game. 1st play we pass. Why? On the road give it to your all pro please! This makes me sick! Lynch is a good back but McCoy is a great back! The defense did not look good but how do you overcome 4INT’s!

You have to design your game plan to fit your team. VY can not throw the ball down field accurately. McCoy should have between 25-30 touches per game period!

The only problem with your statemet Eagle, is that every time VY drop back he is in position to lose the game.

If VY can’t throw the ball accurately (as you state) and has never been able to throw the ball accurately, then the better question is why was he playing at all?

Comical.

In the 2nd quarter

1st down- McCoy 7 yard run
2nd down- incomplete pass
3rd down- incomplete pass
Punt

Defense actually stopped them.

1st down- McCoy 7 yard run
2nd down- incomplete pass
3rd down- incomplete pass
Punt

Seahawks drive and attempt a FG. Instead of calling a TO to save over a minute’s worth of time, AR lets the clock run down to 21 seconds.

Bugsy, you either have a QB that you trust or you don’t. The real problem is that the Birds don’t have one, but clearly the coaching staff think they do, hence the play selection. They’re calling plays they believe their players can execute. Clearly they are misguided about the talent they have at the QB position.

Here are the scenarios for Reid:

1 – He doesn’t trust QB to make plays. At that point he wouldn’t call those plays.

2 – He trusts his QB to make the throws/plays called and therefore calls them.

If it was option 1, then the question must be asked why is that player even playing? I do not understand how Reid cannot see how bad Young is.

The problem with the Eagles right now is Reid is obviously following #2. This is a grave mistake. I don’t know how he can keep rolling out a guy who has 9 INTs in 3 games this year. It defies logic. And its worse than the misjudgements of Casey Matthes talent because the QB touches the ball every single offensive play.

I can’t even be mad at VY after a 4 INT night (well 3 with 1 attributed to Cooper not being able to catch the ball. He is out there busting it with the skills that he has and with the awful playcalling. That block on McCoy’s reverse field run was awesome.
