Five Players I Would Trade Andre Iguodala For

With the Eagles season going quietly into the night they have me even more pumped for the Sixers. Why do I always have to put the Eagles in my conversation? Christ, Joe knock it off. OK, I am back now. Let’s talk about the “Lightning Rod’ that is Andre Iguodala. Like I said before I do not trade him just for the sake of trading him. He is a great defender; see’s the floor very well and is great in the open court. I never said that I would not trade Iggy. I would be willing if the right deal came along. Obviously I am playing fantasy basketball with the guys I would want. But hey, they are still the same GM’s out there that give Dalembert 60 mil and Jerome James like 50 mil. What the hell?! It could happen. With that said here are my top five players I would trade Iggy for in no particular order.

1. Al Jefferson – Center/Power Forward 6/10 280 pounds. Listen, before you think I am nuts, this one makes sense to me. Utah needs a wingman now that Kirilenko is gone. They have a boat load of big-men with Favors, Millsap, Okur and they used their first round pick on center Kanter. Makes too much sense to me. That’s why it won’t happen. First of all, the question is are the Jazz in rebuilding mode now? They did trade Deron Williams last season. Would they be willing to take on salary or are they just looking to shed it? Al would be a perfect fit here. Jefferson is a legit scorer from the post and is good rebounder. He average 18.6 points and 9.7 rebounds last year. He is 26 years old.

2. Marc Gasol – Center 7/1 265 pounds. The guy can do little bit of everything. He is not the greatest rebounder but he is solid. He handles the ball extremely well for big guy. He’s coming off an impressive playoff run in which he averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks per game. He has a nice little hook shot from the post. Memphis has some decisions to make. He is restricted free agent and they have lots of money tied up in Randolph and Gay. They have Darrell Arthur behind him looking ready to blossom. So would they give Gasol up? Maybe we have a better shot at getting Arthur instead. I love that dude’s game. Sixers could just offer Gasol a contract but they do not have the cap room. He is 26 years old.

3. Monte Ellis – PG/SG 6/3 185 pounds. The guy can just flat-out score from anywhere on the court. He averaged 24.1 points last season to go along 5.6 assist a game. Iggy would fit perfectly out in Golden State. Stephen Curry, who runs point for the Warriors, is more of a scoring PG. By putting Iggy next to him at the two would be a nice combo. With Ellis and Curry there is not enough ball to go around. Ellis would slide right next to Holiday at the two guard position. Sixers would finally have a guy they can go to in crutch time. Though he will fire a shot as he crosses half-court. He is 26 years old

4. Rudy Gay – Small Forward 6/8 230 pounds. I heard rumors about him coming here for Iggy last season. Like I said before Memphis might be looking to unload someone to keep Gasol. He averaged 19.8 points with 6.8 rebounds. He makes about 1.5 to 2 million more than Iggy in each year of the contract and has a extra year longer than Iggy does on his. Iggy’s contract is for three more years; Gay’s is four more years. So maybe Memphis is thinking after that run they had without Gay because he was hurt they can afford to move him for cap room. Actually it is a pretty even trade. Iggy will bring better defense and Gay will bring better offense. Iggy is an also a better passer though. Gay is a solid defender and is quick enough to guard the two’s and three’s in this league. Sounds good to me. He is 25 years old.

5. Andrew Bynum – Center 7/0 285 pounds. Now this may be a reach and likely take more than Iggy I would think. But all I keep hearing is that the Lakers are looking to move him. So why not throw the Sixers into the convo? I know he is hurt a lot but when he plays he is dominate force. He is a legit center in a league that does not have many. He average 11.3 points and 9.4 rebounds with 2 blocks per game in only 54 games last season. Would LA just take Iggy? They need to get a little younger on the wing. Iggy would take a lot of stress off Kobe on the defensive end out there. Kobe and Iggy on the open court would be a scary combo. Bynum is 24 years old.

6. Allen Iverson – Guard 6/0 165 pounds. What? He is my favorite player of all-time. If they make a couple trades and signings maybe there is a spot for him. Just saying that’s all. I am jackass, I know. Whatever. We are talking about practice! Practice!

So there are the players I would trade Iguodala for. I know, I have been playing Fantasy sports too much lately, I think I am a GM. You should try using the ESPN.com trade machine then you will really think you are a GM. Son of a … I should have checked that before I posted this article.

I would like to see the 76ers Pursue big man Free-Agent Tyson Chandler..
Have him out there with Brand and Hawes and rotate Thad Young, Brackens and Speights would be a pretty good Front Line

Another possibility is Atlanta Hawks Josh Smith.. Maybe a Iggy and back-up (Speights/Brackens) could get the deal done…

I’m still waiting for the Lamar Odom/Luke Walton trade to materialize. I’d like to see AI in a Sixers uniform again too. On top of that I’d love to see the Sixers get a new HC in Brian Shaw to complete the transition to a completely new system more fit for the players they have.

Joe, I like your thinking, but Jefferson isn’t a center, Gasol is a free agent & don’t have to trade for him, Gay is another version of Iggy, Bynum is softer than the Eagles lineup, & A I doesn’t have to be traded for either & has been cooked for 4 years. Not happening. Sorry to nitpick but come on, I want Iggy outta here more than a lot of people, but you have to come up with better player scenarios than that. I love Ellis though, LOL! 🙂

I like the al Jefferson idea, but not really a fan of anyone else. Gasol is soft. Bynum is always injured. Monta Is like Lou Williams… No need for two of them. And gay is like iggy. I just say we comepletly rebuild and get rid of iggy and brand since we aren’t winning a championship for atleast 5 years. But idk, we need to do something though

I love Josh Smith, he would be another perfect fit here. But then what do you do with Brand & Speights? That’s why we have to blow this team up. Otherwise we will never get a great player. Iggy, Brand & Williams have to go!

Greg Oden signs back with the blazers on a 1yr deal. The sixers need to seek a trade immediately. He would anchor our defense for the next 8-10 yrs if he can stay healthy.
Eddy curry may sign with the heat

Tyson chandler may be strongly pursued by the knicks

Someone please tell the sixers to wake up and see that the center position is the weakest spot of the team.. we can score and we can defend so it makes iggy expendable.. get a center even if its a pau gasol or his bro marc idc go get him!

I heard the Sixers are going after Sal Dalembert or Theo Ratliffe again
