A Giants’ Super Bowl Win Would Be Poetic Justice

Just when Eagles fans were starting to move on and forget 2011, Sunday happened.  Lawrence Tynes’ 31 yard field goal added insult to injury by sending the Giants to as many Super Bowls in the past four years as the Eagles have been to in team history.

Initially as an Eagles fan the feeling is to become slightly jealous combined with anger, and after the Giants won, that’s how Eagles fans felt. In all cases, a fan of one team should never root for their rival, but maybe in Super Bowl forty-six Eagles fans should try rooting for New York.

The fans do not deserve the embarrassment of seeing their rival 90 miles to the north win another Super Bowl, but the ignorant front office of the team sure does. How ironic is it that only weeks after the owner holds a press conference selling to the fans the return of Andy Reid, and just days after the non-hire of Steve Spagnuolo that the Giants reach another Super Bowl?

No fan wants to hear its rival brag about another Super Bowl win, but what percentage of Eagles fans want the team to remain status quo heading into 2012? Many of the Reid supporters, supported him with the notion the team would hire a new defensive coordinator.

“This coach and his staff have a superb track record of getting to the tournament,” Jeff Lurie stated at his is press conference January 3rd. In case Mr. Lurie hasn’t noticed, Eagles fans would like a coach with a track record of winning the “tournament” not just getting to it. Three coaches have reached the Super Bowl more than once since the Eagles appeared in Super Bowl thirty nine.

Since the 2004 season three Super Bowl winning coaches have been fired, an additional two coaches who have reached a Super Bowl were fired. Since the Eagles last Super Bowl appearance three new head coaches were hired and won a Super Bowl. The facts previously listed can’t help but make one wonder, what makes Andy Reid so special?

Despite what he says, Lurie is not a risk taker. If the Giants win the Super Bowl, it is a direct result of Lurie playing it safe and staying with Reid since 1999. According to the contracts handed out by GM Howie Roseman the 2011 Eagles had the talent to win the NFC East, yet the team missed the playoffs and its rival reached the Super Bowl.

How did the Eagles react to this season? They kept it the same. Pathetic. The 49ers were a punt returner away from reaching the Super Bowl this season, they kept the players the same, but changed coaches, and look at the result 13-3 and played deep into January.   It is pathetic Eagles fans are stuck rooting for teams from other cities each winter to beat their rivals.

It may be a part of being a fan, but at what point does it get embarrassing to continuously post statuses on Facebook/Twitter hoping for the Giants demise. It would be nice to root for a team from Philadelphia in late January again. It will be painful for Eagles fans, but if the Giants win the Super Bowl it will be exactly what owner Jeff Lurie needs to witness.

Mr. Brennan, you are exactly right. One Mr. Lurie can’t continue to overlook the fact that the front office’s mistakes and coaching blunders are keeping us from winning the superbowl. They’ve always coveted the Patriots and what they are doing and which players they let go. I would assume that it’s only a matter of time when they will be trying to follow the Giant’s blueprint. When the Giants won the superbowl a few years ago, they went Dline crazy in the draft, but failed to evaluate the talent properly.Cheering for the Giants to win another SB should really get under his skin.

You can’t get any more pathetic than this past Eagles season and this hollywood, clothing sales, and number crunching front office group of wantabe’s.
By their nature they are satisfied with the bottom line and growth in value and are
all getting wealthier by the minute while still feeding the fans the rehearsed lines of their commitment to win the Super Bowl. I personally will be rooting for the NY Giants to win as the Eagles deserve to be observers as the biggest turnover machine and poorest tackling team in Eagles history. They are an embarrasment to all but themselves.

Big E – could you be any more of a whiny drama queen? Really, does your pussy hurt when you cough? get a life – ITS A SPORT, A GAME – how ‘personalized’ have you made this?

I attended a whole lecture on the ‘Status of Sports’ and there was a whole section titeld ‘Skewed Expectations’ that talked about how fans, parents, coaches and ahtletes with overly involved perspectives are ruinging sports in America – its a game – you know what the final recommendation was from the panel of distinguished athletes, coaches, and refs was –

STOP TRYING TO LIVE YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE ATHLETE and the TEAM – get your own life – leave the eagles and the coaches alone, leave the kids and the coaches alone, leave the refs alone – if it ain’t fun – DON”T DO IT

biggest bunch of friggin drama queens – now that’s a national embarrassment – whiny bunch of sniveling trolls – oh – the eagles are sooo bad – just go pick another team ya whiny bitch

Your pop warner lecture on sports at it’s most elementary level makes you an expert you narsisistic excuse for a human being. Your life is dominated by sports and you even admitted it in several posts. If your can’t handle the truth or are scared get a grip and I don’t mean with a tweasers on your pathetic manhood. You post volumes more than anybody on this site. I think it’s you who need a life no matter how worthless it has become. In 51 years of no Super Bowl wins I doubt if the fan expection to win one is unreasonable. I don’t have any expectations from the Eagles and coud care less if they never win again. I don’t take this as seriously as you suggest. I just like annoying useless tools like you.

I could care less who wins the Super Bowl but would like to see an exciting, competitive game adn come down to the wire.. I still think the Giants WR’s are the difference and will make more plays down the field than the dink & dunk pPAtriots WR’s .. I also think the Giants D/Lines eventually wears down the Pats as the Giants go on to win 30-24 in a good game..
I would not be surprised to see the Patirots slow the game down and try to run in by committee 35 times to slow this Giants Pass Rush Down
EAgles Season was over so long ago to me that I don’t harbor ant jealousy or hate to any of these playoff teams .. The coulda’s,woulda’s and shoulda’s are long gone from my memory bank for the 2011 Eagles were just not a good Team from way back in the Summer Camp/Preseason time and were not even deserving of a Playoff spot in my opinion.. The Eagles organaization fro mOwner, to the Front Office to the HC and it’s players got exactly what they derserve which was a little embarrasment and humble pie..
Talent alone means squat in Professional Sports, it’s about the Desire, the Committment, Teamwork, the Sense of Urgency and Passion and clearly, this entire Eagle Organization lacks in all of these traits.. Maybe this embarrasment of 2011 will wake this grourp up, but I am not holding my breath or expecting any big changes this Off-Season, just more of the same old, same old and as long as the Stadium is filled with 65,000 Fans wearing $100 Eagles Jersey’s and Merchandise, nothing is going to change to their “Business Model” as it pertains to the “Product & Team” we fans see on the Field..

Big E – your clear attempts to minimize my level of play, my level of coaching, and my climbing up the ref ladder are duly noted –

but please note – the former all state and all american, college level coach, with an all american daughter in two sports and a son on the national team –

when have you ever seen me rip a coach or a player or an organization hmm?

So which one of us is living his life through an athlete?

BigE: you have to excuse Navy and his “live life with the Reidtard’s sack on his chin” attitude. The majority of people who visit understand that his dream is to be considered a “real” Eagles fan and not just another bandwagoner who jumped on in 2000. Just skip the self-love and know-it-all posts. Remember “DON’T FEED THE TROLLS”.

Wow – a real rocket scientist you are there Kachtice – whoo – another intellectual giant with those ever ever so clever put downs – ouch – like touching a hot stove you are… do I really seem like I give a flying fuck what a complete dipshit likes you think – was I trying that hard? I thought I was trying to tell Big E what an absolute whining pussy he was – was I not clear enough – I will try harder next time – and yes, I do love myself enough that I don’t have to go around bashing the eagles because ‘they owe me’ something – I don;t have to insult to OC, the DC, I don;t have to make laundry lists of every fault or imgined slight and I sure as hell don;t have to make up complete and totally moronic bullshit (I guess that does make me a know it all – cause what I post is based in fact not ‘passionate’ knowledge)

how old are you ‘Reidtard’ 14 really – thats how whitty you are – man – hope those foodstamps are helping

So which one of us is living his life through an athlete? Navy it’s pretty obvious to me that you are no longer an athlete, a ref, a coach, maybe. To site the atheletic accomplishments of your children it’s a sure bet that you are living your life through them in the present. The Eagles turnovers and poor tackling skills I mentioned are real not imagined and the 51 years since a Championship(not considered a Super Bowl is a fact). Remember Narcissus fell in love with his reflection in the water. I would say he was the Queen. You are not in a position to pull rank on the posters from this site, so cut your pompous bullshit.
Incidently, refs screw up many times in all sports as do coaches and players.
WHEN YOU GET TO THE PROFESSIONAL LEVEL SPORTS BECOMES A BUSINESS SUBJECT TO PUBLIC SCRUTINY. It’s a game for kids and amatuer
players who don’t get paid millions to play.

Big E – dude – rationalize much? clearly you are so freakin clueless – pre sports is a business – what is college? How much money do you think is involved in college athletics – High schools now travel cross country – often paid by sponsors to play in tourneys – really – you are just that clueless – but you must be more right becuase I mentioned I have athletically talented kids – yeah – makes you so much more right – just keep your head buried in your ass and keep making excuses for being such a drama queen – Eagles don;t owe you, me or anyone else shit – skewed expecations bro – very skewed – you drama queen attitude is showing up at all levels becuase at all levels – people are rationalizing there ignorant borish behaviour towards the coaches, players (and in the case of MAtthews his girlfriend) and refs becuase they have rationalized that since they make money and its a business – its ok to be ‘scrutinized’ I guess in your world ‘Reidtard’ is scrutiny – but remember – I love myself so that makes your argument solid

navy – little e is the troll of all trolls, a true hater’s hater…. the man’s grumpiness gives the term curmudggeon a new extreme, and his obsession with Andy Reid’s waistline is both disturbing and illistrative of E’s lack of understanding of relevant information.
