The Eagles are looking for linebackers and according to Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com, an NFL source has told him that the Birds worked out strong side outside linebacker, Ben Leber recently.
Caplan reports thatLeber was a free agent in 2006 and the Birds were interested in him before he signed a deal with the Minnesota Vikings. Now he’s back in the street after he was released by the Rams in December.
Yes he was cut by the Rams last year, so I question being interested in this guy. How bad did he have to be for the Rams to cut him during the season a year ago?
Lost his starting job in ST Louis on a pretty bad Defensive Team, to 4 year 7th Round Pick OLB named Chris Chamberlain…I would pass on Mr Leber..

bring him in ————- if the current Eagle LB beat him out so be it — the birds took a look at Donald Lee at TE last year and Clay Harbour won the training camp job but he should be able to beat out the junk they have at linebacker — the Eagle defense was really bad last season (all jobs are up for replacement )

Leber is a SAM, he’d be signed to play SAM, not MLB. So Tulloch is independent of Leber.
I don’t understand why people are complaining about Ben Leber and Dan Morgan — the Eagle Lb were the worst in the league and eveyone they could bring in free agency is better than what they have — the best current Eagle LB is not a top 50 NFL linebacker
Songs- Ben Leber is a linebacker who played the SAM position very well when he played (if you payed attention to the NFL more than you do youtube, you might know that). Been out of the game for a bit and did have some injuries in the past, but if they check him out and he’s still good to go, he’s an upgrade.
schill- i agree but the prob is that we know the eagles often try to sell us on a player that is not worthy of such a sale. bottom line….. this could be a solid backup/ push in camp to start. But we need a MLB…. and not a rook.

Keep him on the streets. Ben Leber doesnt improve this defense. Thats the bottomline…he does not improve the D. I’ll take the guys from last year whom at the end of the year played well ,they know the system and turned it up end of season. Yeah they played some crap teams but what do you want…its the NFL.
They should see if Nate Wayne and Marc Signmenow are still kicking…..heres a great idea….get closer to beating a good team at home or on the road in the p-offs by bringing in a legit starter to man the middle. Leber was very good up to about 2 years when he injured his knee.. and hasn’t been the same since// Stevo from Minnesota could give us some good insight since he played with the Vikings before last years poor season with the Rams.. But he was All-Pro Caliber for the Vikings a few years back…
I would rather they sign Connor who is younger and more athletic than an aging Leber, but that’s just me..

Erock — Mark Simoneau and Nate Wayne are better LB than what the Eagles have — this is a dire situation — the Eagles need 6 new Linebackers and everyone that could be brought in needs to be signed — they have nothing on the roster
any Eagle fan that turns away any new Linebacker addition is blind — every free agent linebacker on the market is better than their current starters

Brian Rolle will be the Will next year.I can think of a few Wills in the league who are a lesser player. Chaney was out of position a lil too much last year but he did have Baby Thor next to him. The Birds backers are not worse then all of these guys on the streets..if they were then why did these teams release them?

Marc Simoneau was a short armed bum. Chaney isnt all world but ill take him anyday over Marcy Marc…and Rolle….BOOM.At least Rolle laid the wood last year some…put himself in harms way.All i remember about Marcy Marc is running around like Baby Thor..chasing plays from behind.

While he and Dan Connor are both white LB’s who grew up in Delaware County (Morgan – Clifton Heights and Connor- Media) and both played in Carolina, Morgan has been out of the league for a few years……I know that we are looking at some pretty obscure LB’s, but doubt they are looking at Morgan.

I must have missed something. what exactly has Dan Connor and Ben Leber done in the NFL that makes them “greatly different” from Matthews?? special teams don’t count either…again, I must have missed something…
