Eagles Sign Thomas Welch, Free Agent Offensive Tackle

Yesterday the Birds announced that they had signed offensive tackle Thomas Welch who was put on waivers by the St. Louis Rams.  He’ll likely be a back and the second-year pro will be battling King Dunlap for a spot on the roster.

I would imagine that his chances are slim, since he wasn’t able to make the Rams roster.

He does have some experience since he played eight games last year, which was his second year in the NFL.

Eagles now have the Following Off/Tackles on the Active Roster

T Herremans, D Bell, K Dunlap, DJ Jones, with Draft Pick Kelly and now Welch..
This gives the Eagles 6 OT’s to battle for 4 Roster Spots and you have to figure that Herramans & Bell are locks with probably Dunlap a Back-up due to his familiarirty with the Eagles System leaving Draft Pick Kelly,DJ Jones & Welch battling it out for the 4th & FInal OT Spot…
Keep in mind the DJ Jones came from the Ravens and Welch from the Rams where both Teams have some serious needs along thh OT Position so if neither of these 2 players could stand out and play well for those Teams in need, I am not so sure how good they are, but with Mudd, who knows..

Its shows that the improvement in the OL last year had more to do with coaching then talent. There has been a real improvement in the staff. Maybe Mudd can continue his magic with some of the picks. Who would have thought that a 6th round center and a FG guard would turn out to be such outstanding players.

The improvement of O-Line play had more to do with the lack of legitimate competition at the end of the season. The Eagles have done well at converting tackles to effective guards and the Eagles have flushed YEARS worth of players on the O-Line over the last two years…so it’s definitely time to replenish the stores.

I don’t agree for the most part the OL was good for the entire season and will only get better. If you said the defense was better at the end of the season because of legitimate competition that would be a different story. I don’t think they need to do anything with the OL with the possible exception of LT.

I think the O-Line will be fine strictly because of Mudd. Him and Washburn work wonders.

dtime…Good the entire season???? What are you smoking?

I guess out of sight out of mind is your mantra, but I remember D-Linemen in Vick’s face before he could get to step 3 in a 3 drop set-up pretty consistently through the season. Vick wasn’t scrambling because he wanted to he had to constantly move because there never was a pocket.

paulman
paulman
May 6, 2012 8:21 am

that was early in the Season Butch007,
Vick scrambled plenty of times when it was not necessary the 2nsd half of the season adn it really wasn’t to the last few weeks that Vick did a much better job of staying in the pocket to deliver the pass or simply throw it it away when the play wasn’t there hence the Eagles 4-0 finish.. This Season 100% is all on VIck..
He doesn’t have to be superman, run the plays that’s called and deliver the ball, if 1st ot 2nd primary targets are covered, do a check-down or get rid of the ball.. If he does this and reduced his overall turnovers (INT’s/Fumbles?Sacks) by a good margin, the Eagles will be tough to beat.. If Vick tries to play like SUperman and make something out of nothing, fails to protect the ball better and takes too many unecessary hits, then they finish about .500.. It’s time for him to step-up and be more consistent in his play and decision making..

I might have over stated but not by much the OL did a good job last year and will only get better. I agree with Paulman Vick was running around like a chicken with his head cut off and needs to get allot better. McCoy had a great season and he didn’t do it alone. Why do you think McCoy and Mudd get along so well? The OL is always an easy target when things don’t go well.

Butch,

1 – Vick has never made a 3 step drop in his life (k maybe once or twice). He’s too short.

2 – Vick loves his 7, 8, 9, step drops (and often dropping back that many steps from the shotgun). He’s the only QB in the league who has to throw the ball 30 yrds on a 10 yrd out. This puts added pressure on the oline, especially because he plants exactly at the point where the OT is trying to steer the DE to. This happens so much with Vick I want to puke. The OT is supposed to guide the DE out and past the QB set up…he can’t push the guy down the field forever. And always Vick is standing there 15 yrds behind centre, right where the DEs converging.

3 – The guys at Football outsider have Vick ranked as the 2nd worst QB in football taking sacks after 3.5 seconds. Hold that ball!

4 – The guys at Bleeding Green did a video analysis on each of Vick’s sacks last year, on several occasions there were perfect pockets in from of him, but instead of stepping up, he did his patented spin-o-rama to try to get outside, right into the arms of the DE who was converging right at his plat spot. Step up, not out!!

5 – Its amazing how Olines magically deteriorate when Vick is in and improve when he leaves. But of course, sacks are always the olines fault. I’ve posted the #s on here before, but I’ll give you a quick snapnhot, just for nostalgia’s sake:

2001
Chandler 41 sacks 365 atts
Vick 21 sacks 100 atts…sacked 2x as much per attp – but a rookie, so excusable

2003 (hurt)
Vick 9 sacks 100 atts
Doug Johnson (?) 19 sacks 243 atts
Kurt Kittner (???) 5 sacks 114 atts
Again, same oline and here’s vick being sacked about 50% more often (per att) than those other 2 amazingly talented signal callers

2006
Vick 45 sacks 388 atts
2007
Chandlier 32 sacks 348 atts
Redman 9 sacks 149 atts
Leftwich 5 sacks 58 atts
So….one year after Vick it took 180 more attempts for 1 more sack

Whenever Vick arrives, sacks go up…when he leaves, sacks go down…must be the oline

Did this happen with Eagles??

2009
McNabb 35 sacks 443 atts
Kolb 3 sacks 96 atts

2010
Vick 34 sacks 372 atts
Kolb 15 sacks 189 atts
Again, Vick taking sacks at a higher rate than the year before, or his teammates the same year…must be the oline.

Mike VIck takes sacks because he likes to run around, holds the ball too long, rarely steps into the pocket, drops back to the DE’s converging points, and is too short to hit conventional quick strike routes.

Keep blaming the oline.

vinnie, let me ask you this, but let me say first I do not think vick is a top qb, h’s a turnover machine, overhyped black qb like tebow is overhyped white qb, but nfl needs these types to pander to fans like butch, Rocko, maybe stevo for tebow, I don’t know, but back to this question:

why do you have to make a statistical treatise on every post about vick’s play, we get it, but do you have a library at home on every stat related to vick’s play? Isn’t there something else to talk about than vick’s stats?

“the guys at football outsider”….LOL

Even the best of the football experts are no experts….

All those ex-nfl players get half of their picks right on game day. 90% of them are mailing it in and collecting a million dollars for sitting in front of a camera and reciting the same football cliches…week after week.

1. They are going to have to take what the defense gives them.

2. They must run the ball if they want to win today’s ball game.

3. Turnovers will be the key to todays game.

4. He’s going to have to step up his game if his team is going to have a chance to win.

5. Anything Terry Bradshaw/Jimmy Johnson say.

Mike Vick escapes sacks and outruns defenders like nobody in the history of the NFL.

Dating back to the opening sack in the Packer Playoff game and
All Preseason and the 1st half of the regular season his offensive line stunk.

All QB’s turnover go up when the line can’t protect him. Please refresh my memory of who started the right tackle(blind side) position when preseason started….

Bad Back guy..

King Dunlap…

One guy who can’t play because of injury and another guy who just can’t play. Dunlap did not even start for his college team and he’s protecting a multi-million dollar Franchise QB.

Then there’s the immature baby at 1 WR. And Sick guy at 2. Celek has to stay in to block and there goes another reciever.

Nobody the size of Vick wants to get hit in the NFL. ask Desean (looking for a good place to fall) Jackson.

Amonst other things The line was learning a new system and it took it’s toll on the QB.

Now that Maclin is healthy and Boney James has been paid. This will be an explosive offense with Vick at QB. The team set scoring records the year before.

Rocko, if a guy is truly a racist (and I am not picking anybody in particular), you do realize you are not going to change his mind or the way he thinks? Nothing you say or do is going to have any effect whatsoever. You are completely wasting your own time ranting about it. The vast majority of people who check this site could not care any less about whatever your issues are with races/racism. If you are feeling like a crusader against injustice, go someplace else and vent all you want. But this site is supposed to be for discussing the Eagles by Eagles fans. I know I do not check it more because of stupid crap like this. I’d love to yap about the Birds, players, the schedule but so many threads deteriorate into mindless trash like this, and it just isn’t fun, or productive. Go protest in the streets. I must say it is a joy to see you guys have as much fun with Giants Fan aka Vinnietheevictor as I used to. I mean even the guys that don’t like Vick (Jakedog) recognize that his intense hatred for Vick stems from a dark undesirable place. I think it is well know that I think Giants Fan is a bigot and I think this will show itself even more when Vick has success this season… And if the Birds win the SB… you will see Giant’s Fan’s full range of bigotry… book it!

Vick’s a winner and that’s why Reid was drawing up plays for Vick in 2008… (yes I got the year right).

You can post all the negative statistics you want about Vick… it’s been done before and it will be done again. But let’s post some positive ones for a change:

In College:

At VT Vick went 11-0 as a RS freshman and took his team to the Nat. Champ. game. He had his team ahead until the 4th quarter before eventually losing to one of the greatest teams and coaches in college football history FSU Bobby Bowden. Vick’s winning percentage while in college as a starter 95.5% 21 wins and 1 loss. All of this while not playing with any offensive players that would be drafted into the NFL. VT never had back to back seasons of this calibre before or since. In his first year at VT Vick LED THE NATION IN PASSING EFFICIENCY SETTING A RECORD THAT YEAR WHICH MADE HIM 3RD ALL TIME. His heisman trophy placement of 3rd was the highest of any RS freshman ever at that time until Adrian Peterson did it after.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_Virginia_Tech_Hokies_football_team

In the NFL:

In spite of playing for 2 different owners and 2 different coaches Vick led the the Atlanta Falcons to 4 playoff appearances and 2 playoff victories IN HIS FIRST FOUR SEASONS. The most notable being the victory in GB against Brett Favre which had never been done by any QB before Vick. If Vick can be criticized for his play in Atlanta he can also be credited. Vicks winning percentage in his 6 year career at Atlanta as a starter 52.7%. Matt Ryan’s record in the playoff in his 1st for season with a considerably better team 0-3. Matt Ryan has played with a league high 9 probowlers in 2010 alone. Interesting how teams stop winning meaningful games when Vick leaves even when they have more help. Vick’s winning percentage as a starter for the Philadelphia Eagles 62.5%…

I know people want to blame this all on Vick… it’s easy to do. Take the guy you like the least and say it’s all his fault. I know I know… the WR’s are great at getting separation and reading the blitz and were in perfect position all the time and the O-line didn’t miss any blocks and Vick is always “holding the ball too long” as opposed to “extending plays”. And even though he was running a new offense with new coaches and new personnel and philosophies with no OTA’s and a shortened off season that’s no excuse. I get it. Vick is always getting himself hurt because of reckless play even though all of his injuries in 2011 were in the pocket. Totally understandable.

@Jakedog… we may not agree on many things, but when it comes to Giants Fan I think you are starting to see what I see.

@BSM… I see exactly what your saying… What’s your thoughts on any one who uses a purely statistical argument when evaluating an NFL Player? I mean can you truly measure individual performance completely in the NFL? Some people say math is hard, but for them so is objectivity.

@Rocko… Why bother… you know who your dealing with he’s not gonna change… Napoleon can’t change his height… LOL!!!

@Pdiddy… doesn’t Giant’s Fan’s rants about Vick no matter what the topic is make you even kinda question his motives??? I’m just sayin’. I’m paraphrasing Jay-z here… Men lie… Women Lie… but post history don’t lie… LOL!

Did Vick really go 11-0? In college?

Wow, that’s fantastic!!!

Just like Chris weinke!!!
As a sophomore in 1998, Weinke led the Florida State Seminoles to a 9–1 record and #2 national ranking before a season-ending neck injury forced him to the sidelines. During his junior season in 1999, he led the #1 ranked Seminoles to the school’s first undefeated season and second National Championship,[6] defeating Michael Vick and the Virginia Tech Hokies 46-29.

Wait….what? He beat Vick? That’s no good!

Lions you’re getting pretty desperate bringing up the old college records.

Vick in the playoffs? 2 and 4?? Fantastic. What’s that…one win was against a GB team that turned the ball over 7x….shhhhh….be quiet…vick’s 52% 117 yrd 1td performance was KEY!!! And please don;t mention that Vick followed up this masterful TRIUMPH wil a solid 57% 2 int disaster in Philly the following week…shhhhh

And the other VIctory? Another amazing performance. Vick threw for….wait for it…..wait…an incredible 82 yrds agains a stl team rolling with the incomperable Marc Bulger…..now shhhhhh….again…please don;t mention that Vick followed up this triumph with another solid 46%, 124 yrd 0td, 1 int performance against Philly again……shhhhh

We’re talking about Vick’s playoff Success!! Victories against Marc Bulger and a team that turned the ball over 7x! How much better can you get????

Face it Lions. We’re in the middle of a 3 yr rebuilding process. First the transformation on O. Now D. Vick was called in to scramble around, get some pub, and try to hold the team at 8-8. We’ve got one more year to suffer through this mess at QB, then ready to roll with this young team in 2013.

@Giants Fan…

Chris Weinke… much like Josh Weedon was 40 years old (just kidding… but he was a 27 year old junior) when he played against the 19yr old RS Freshman Michael Vick in the National Championship game. Your argument is lame at best… the fact that a 19yr old RS freshman had his team ahead in the 4th Qtr against one of the greatest college teams/programs/Coach in sports history after bringing them back from a 21 point deficit is highly impressive. If VT would have won it would have been Epic. This is why Lee Corso called Vick “the best QB he’d ever seen” coming out of college. Chris Weinke… Really??? BTW how’d Chris Weinke’s NFL Career Turn out? Also, respond to the fact that he lead the nation and ranked #3 all time in passing efficiency as a RS freshman…

Giants Fan… I’m getting desperate by using old college information or Atl information???!!! For YOU to say that is hilarious! 90% of your hate filled rants about Vick comes from his college days and Atl days. And the other stuff you rant about during his time here in Philly is stupid at best… But I’m beginning to realize that if you can’t make a statistical argument about a player… you can’t make an argument period! The is how I know YOU DON’T KNOW FOOTBALL! Vick got to the playoffs and won in the playoffs in spite of poor team mates, coaching, and a poor front office. It’s well documented. You can find negative in ANY QB’s game. The question is… do they win? Vick has been a winner and will continue to be a winner in this league.

But this by far is the dumbest statement you’ve made yet:

“Face it Lions. We’re in the middle of a 3 yr rebuilding process. First the transformation on O. Now D. Vick was called in to scramble around, get some pub, and try to hold the team at 8-8. We’ve got one more year to suffer through this mess at QB, then ready to roll with this young team in 2013.”

Where do I begin… So AR wanted to bring in a convicted felon linked to dog fighting and killing and torturing dogs… as a back up to “get some pub” when not a single other team wanted to touch Vick??? And Jeff Lurie signed off on this because it would boost ticket sales right? But wait… I thought Kolb was the answer??? Wasn’t Kolb a “real” QB??? If so why would you need to bring in a convicted felon that will likely bring huge amounts of negative press and potential lost revenue? Giants Fan… your stupidity is the stuff of legend! This was a huge gamble and took a heck of a lot of balls on the eagles part. And is was done to win SB’s not to be a stop gap. Winning a SB is the only way Reid and Lurie can justify this move to the doubters.

Let me address one last foolish statement you’ve made regarding Vick being brought in to “run around”. And let me first say that I like Foles and I hope he does well in this league. If Vick was really on the outs… Reid wouldn’t have drafted Kirk Cousins back up. And sorry to hurt your feelings but Foles was not Reid’s first choice… it was Russell Wilson but Seattle surprisingly drafted him. Reid has admitted to drawing up plays for Vick since 2008 while he (Reid) was on vacation. Vick is here to stay my friend… what you have to face is that Reid brought Foles in here to shut people like you up by making them think Foles could be the QB of the future… Kinda like he did with Kolb. Because in reality Kolb only had one bad game before Reid pulled the plug and replaced him with Vick… He said he did it to protect Kolb which he did but the question is what aspect of Kolb was he protecting? Answer: Kolb’s trade value because if the league continued to see just how bad Kolb was we wouldn’t have received a pro bowl corner and high draft pics in exchange for him.

Got any more bright ideas Giants Fan? BTW when are you going to answer jakedog’s question?

Now back to football. This happens at all levels of football and it’s the same old story with some people concerning line play. QB or RB runs for a touchdown…………….. Array look how great the RB or QB is playing. The same back is tackled in the backfield and the same people are yelling for the line to block. Should not be able to have it both ways but it just way it is and always will be.

LOL the nonsense posted on here sometimes….wow!

DTime – I hear what your saying…but that is only true with fans that dont know the game or understand that football is a team sport…it is broken without the other…one part struggles, the team will be impacted…

But also, DTime you dont hear anyone saying that Dunlap, Watson, or any OLineman is responsible for an interception…even if the interception occurred because of their failure to block their man and keep their man’s hands down…nope that INT goes to the QB…so the same can be said in that regard as well…

@RT777….you are right about turnovers being a function of the entire offense and not necessarily just one player….our high rate of turnovers was a symptom of some poor line pline early oin the season and poor decisions by the qb and execution by the wr’s……I really believe that with the ability of full camps and the second year of our coaches we will see a MUCH better offense this season…provided #7 stays healthy!!

So the question is why do I have to put up a statistical analysis every time I speak about Vick?

Isn’t that obvious?

There are 2 reasons:

1 – to counteract the ridiculous blanket (and untrue) statements people make on here. Mu last bit about Viick liking to take sacks was brought on by the Butch’s incorrect statement, “I guess out of sight out of mind is your mantra, but I remember D-Linemen in Vick’s face before he could get to step 3 in a 3 drop set-up pretty consistently through the season.” I just posted some counter arguements to that statement.

2 – I have to. And this is the completely interesting part. I have to provide stats because, a) they’re readily available – in fact the deeper I look the worse Vick gets! and b) if I don’t, then about 6 of you immediately start screaming hater, and more specifically racist!! The ridiculous assumption made, by Rocko, Lionsden, Real and all, is that it is so completely idiculous, so inane, so impossible to criticize the all powerful and ever living Vick, that to do so, clearly means he/she doing the criticizing is a raging racist.

Point out he’s 2-4 in the playoffs? F-ing racist
Shitty comp % – bigot
3.3% career average throwing ints…”you don’t appreciate the balck QB – racist

and on and on.

ANd the most amazing thing of all…..I get called a racist by people dropping lines on here like:

the black athlete is superior
like you who deny these superior athletes with superior African athletic genotypes get better and better.

I mean holy shit. I don’t need to look up the definition of irony, its live and ewell here on Gcobb.

So fine. You don’t like stats. No problem,

Lions…here’s a statsless prediction. Vick will miss most or all of 5 games this year. He’ll come in at his traditional 3.3% int rate. He’ll be in the bottom 3rd in completion %. He’ll get sacked a lot. He’ll be close to the league lead in fumbles as he always is. He will not be on the Birds next year and good riddance.

It amazes me that you can talk so much ish on Vick and use stats to “back up” your claim, but what about your Kolb? Why don’t you use stats to back up how horrible he is?

I am not sure Kolb has met the minimum requirements of snaps to do any statistical analysis.. All you really need to know about Kolb is that he was beat out from a rookie 7th Rd Draft Pick from Hofstra named John Skeleton playing for a team with one of the best WR in the Game (Fitz) and for a Team that has been desperate for just average QB play to manage the games and Kolb has not even been able to do this.. Kolbs a misnomer and irrelevant when it comes to QB Rankings,Ratings or Stats fior he get get or stay on the field..

Realtalk 777 I understand what you’re saying and your right.………….. good post. I guess I’m a little sensitive when people call out lineman. Concerning the race issue there is no room for it on a football field or this site. Anyone that has worn a helmet knows that.

“So the question is why do I have to put up a statistical analysis every time I speak about Vick?” No that’s not the question… “The inquiry I put to Vinnie, which he has not responded, is why does he have to go into a statistical tirade every time vick’s name is mentioned” that was the question posted by Jakedog. with the emphasis on tirade every time Vick’s name is mentioned.

“Point out he’s 2-4 in the playoffs? F-ing racist
Shitty comp % – bigot
3.3% career average throwing ints…”you don’t appreciate the balck QB – racist” None of this makes you a racist or a bigot. Calling Vick, DJAX, and T.O. Punks. Thugs, and Gangsta on a football blog makes you a bigot. Asking if the reason people like Vontaze Burfict is because he has a youtube video with 50 cent on a football blog makes you a bigot. Saying that no body heard of “that guy (Russell Wilson) Seattle drafted except on APB bulletins” makes you a bigot. Posting all of Vicks personal history on a football blog makes you a bigot. As I’ve said before these comments are insidious and detrimental to this blog. You sir need to go from this blog because every time you start this crap we have these kinds of conversations. People on this blog are always talking football until you show up and then the question becomes “why is this dude disparaging one player all the time in what appears to be a very personal way”. There is a site just for you it’s called Rant Sports. I’ll even sign you up if you’ll just leave.

I love talking football, but you don’t know anything about it so talking with you is fruitless. Because the more you delve into our starting QB’s past you will see how much he has done without much help.

Regarding you statless prediction based on you past ineptitude when making predictions about players on this team I’ll take that bet. But I’ll up the ante… if Vick is on this roster after next year and plays in 11 or more games you leave this blog for good… If the Eagles win the SB with Vick at the Helm you have to make an apology… admit you are a bigot… and leave for good.

Vinnie- as always when you post all this.. i ask the q….. what should they have done? they had 3 options as of now….

1) Mcnabb- out of football
2) Kolb- almost out of football
3) Vick- is what he is.

You have stated that you would have stayed with Kolb. Fair enough i guess. Im glad they didnt. Your point for going with kolb has flip flopped over the months/years. At last i pressed you to say that Kolb would have played bad football and we would have been able to use a higher draft pick to get a real qb in here. I wouldnt have done it that way and clearly the eagles knew what they were doing. You talk as in if they had 4 qb on the team and one’s name was Tom Brady.

Now- here is some truth…..

Vick holds the ball too long and causes many sacks.
Vick has shown they he CAN read D’s- but hasnt shown it enough.
Vick can make amazing plays and amazingly bad plays.
Vick has a deep ball and we have deep ball recivers
Vick has more then enough talent around him
Vick has to show something this year or he and andy are looking for jobs.

The Oline showed moments of greatness last year.
The Oline showed that it has 2 rookies starting early last year.
The Oline should thank Shady for making them look good.
The Oline will really miss Peters this year.
The Oline should be glad they have Mudd- not Juan.

The WR’s- need to use stickem.
The WR’s need to help Vick out this year- last year they didnt.
The WR’s MAY be greatly overrated. Im looking at you AVANT.
The WR’s need a red zone player.

I wont wear a Vick jersey but i root for him. All this crap from punks like Vinnie- he is our QB. He gives us the best chance. He was not the only reason for the problems last year. You can talk all you want vinnie about his Int’s but you and i both know that MANY of them were because of stupid plays by others (2 fumbles by avant that go down as int’s).

Bottom line is- this is a team sport.

Funny Lions. I’ll take that bet. Know why? Cause I made the same one last year with someone else. Enjoy your last 4 months in here.

As for everything else you wrote…I again have to ask if you’ve had anyone look into your reading disability. You read one thing, then extrapolate another.

1 – I called Vick a thug – getting involved in multiple criminal investigations somethimmes brings with them those labels sometimes
2 – I called desean a punk – because he whined and quit on the team like a punk
3 – TO – you really want to defend that wack-job?
4 – Funny you haven’t mentioned my negative comments towards Celek when he f-ed up a few months back
5 – I didn’t say gangsta – I said wannabe Gangsta. Mostly to do with the way Vick, Desean dress. Unprofessional. Immature. You find me a QB who’s won the superbowl wearing his hat sideways and I’ll eat my words. Of course you also seem to leave out that I was also slagging Stafford for wearing his hat backwards like a juvenile punk. But you only seem to get upset when I make the comments about athletes who happen to be black. Why is that exactly?
6 – “that guy Seattle picked/APB bulletins” was in reference to Bruce Irvin who was arrested the day after the combine I believe, and was a suprise 1st rounder….but of course you interpreted that as…there’s Vinnie going after the black QB again!! Who’s the one with blinders bucko?
7 – its completely legit to comment on the Vontaze Burfict video because he’s a peice of shit LB who only became popular around here because of it…certainly not from his play on the field.

You sir, are the one who reads everything through the eyes of a bigot. You should get that checked out.

How about some off-season football talk…

My next wish for the Birds is that given the excellent position that they have placed themselves in regarding cap-space…please learn from last seasons problems with DJax and sign Shadey to an extension. The least amount of distractions entering training camp will give us our best opportunity of reaching a SB….not that I believe Shadey will react as poorly as DJax, why cause yourself a possible problem when you have room to move under the cap without hurting other areas of your team.

Any thoughts??

greenfan, Arian Foster’s five-year deal is worth $43.5 (21 guarantee);Marshawn Lynch 4 years / $31 million( 18 guarantee),Ray Rice1 years / $7.70 million, and Matt Forte franchised still unsigned —– Eagles know the ball park

@bugsy…I am with you. Our D-line rotation is crazy with talent, and then you throw Washburn into the mix and we are going to be a nightmare for QB’s this year. Demeco Ryans is the leader we need last year. The only real question is the safety play.

I concur,@green… the safety position is most def the position of most concern. However, the DC position is where I have even some concern as well..if the players aren’t played to their strengths, won’t matter who we have on the field..I am looking forward to see what Ryans impact will be on the defense…
I dont think Shady will let his contract affect his play…but the Eagles should definitely sign him sooner rather than later…

Most of you guys know I am an AR supporter…but did anyone else catch when he said he felt he over utilized Shady a bit too much last season? I felt Shady didnt get the ball enough…not really in terms of his rushes but screen plays…I def want to see more screen plays with the RB this up coming season.

RealTalk – i felt the same way. he used shady a little to late during the latter half of the season then the playoffs were about out of reach. he needs to use him more in screen plays along with the new power back poulk. We need a 2 or 3 headed monster to wear opponents d-line down. They need to sign him soon as well.

Safety is a concern that we need to get straight or it will be our doom again this season.

good stuff man lot’s of good facts good shit. My biggest problem and only problem with Vick is just getting rid of the ball faster. Just avoiding those extra hits will help him big time, so he won’t miss games. I like Vick I just want him to get better at read recognition. Like he showed in the first half of the 2010 season. Give me that guy back we will be unstoppable.
