Michael Vick Confident In His Team; Gets Birthday Gift From Cowboys

It’s no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles are on the hot seat this season. With star-studded line-ups on both sides of the football, making the playoffs should be no problem for this group. After speaking at the NFL Rookie Symposium, Eagles QB Michael Vick spoke about the pressure on he and his teammates with the NFL Network.

“The only time we talk about it (the pressure) is when we talk to the media so it’s like it doesn’t even exist to us because we’re so motivated on the season and excited about the season,” Vick said. “We’re really excited about going into this year as far as football and being able to go out and have fun and play good football. Not to prove anything to the world or to the critics, but to ourselves that we can play with the best.”

The Eagles have the individual talent to compete with the league elites, but the burning question is if they can mold all of their individual talent into a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Although the Eagles ended the season with four consecutive wins, they started the year losing four of their first frive games, which eventually led to an 8-8 record and no postseason. However, with a year of experience under their belts and a full offseason to prepare, Vick and the Eagles are as confident as ever.

“We feel like we’re one of the best teams in the league,” said Vick. “We feel like we can play with any team in this league on any given Sunday.”

Speaking of playing with any team in the league, one division opponent is already anticipating a meeting with the Eagles this season. The Dallas Cowboys wished Michael Vick a happy birthday on Tuesday by tweeting a photo of the quarterback being sacked by Demarcus Ware. The photo read “Happy Birthday M. Vick See You Nov. 11.” Although the Eagles did have their woes last season, one team they did not struggle with is the Dallas Cowboys. In both of their victories last year, Vick threw for nearly 300 yards and he completed two touchdown passes in each game. Although I applaud the Cowboys for their humor, they’re only adding more fuel to the fire. November 11th can’t get here soon enough.

Whats funny is the cowboys are still talking and we trashed them last year in both games haha, and i see much of the same this year. I see the birds running away with this division. Arrows going upward for this team. I like that the birds let the cowboys dig there own holes then bury them. Romo only has 1 playoff win on his record (he beat us) but its as if hes won multiple championships if you listen to the cowboys. They still havent learned from last year or previous years in not trash talking before the season begins or you play a game. What a foolish move on there parts.. I do have concerns with that LT position where Demetrius Bell is at. Thats where Ware rushes from and the cowboys are fully aware of all our player injuries and new acquisitions. They probably think they can take advantage of that side. I hope the birds can compensate for our loss of Peters and hopefully Bell will step up and be what we need him to be there..But the team seems very confident and unfazed over at Nova Care

Glad our qb has that type of confidence in himself and the team, it would be nice however, if some of the “suppose” to be fans had the same confidence.

Mcnabb, tells the truth.

McNabb reached three NFC championship games before Owens and one after, but never again played in the Super Bowl.

He was asked to reflect on his time in Philadelphia and had positive things to say, but it’s clear McNabb has been paying attention to the fact that the Eagles have not won a playoff game since he left.

“Obviously there are a lot of people in Philadelphia right now who would love to have that same success we had,” McNabb said.

And finally, he was asked to identify the best player he ever played with. McNabb first said it was tough to pick just one, but eventually settled on Brian Dawkins.

“When you think of a great player who dominated the game at his position, when he was out on the field, everyone on the opposing side knew where he was lined up, I would say Brian Dawkins,” he said.

Well, you guys are correct but McNabb do have a point here.

Have the team won a Playoff game since he left?

There’s something to what he’s saying here and obviously Reid is the constant while the team wallows in mediocrity.

Mcnabb haters amaze me,To had a great game in the superbowl?Who threw the football to him,oh yeah the guy that doesnt get nevous in some games when the seasons on the line but does in others!LMAO!The greatest show on turf, one of the most prolific offenses in NHL history won their NFC chp gm against the BUCS 11-6.Warner threw a td to rickey prohl with 5 minutes remaining(a catch that one of our revievers over the years wouldve dropped!)If that team had been the Eagles you know what wouldve happen? The Defense gives up an 80 yard td drive then when Mcnabb doesnt lead down for another score its his fault they loss!!Here the greatest offense ever struggled the whole game putting up 5 measly points until five minutes left in the forth but theyre d stepped up and hence they bacame SB champions!!Football is the ultimate team sport, thats why I love it.thats why qbs like dilfer and rypien win superbowls and qbs like mcnabb dont.alot of the fans have been trained by the media and the pundits that its all about the qbs and to me its a total team sport.Keep hating on Mcnabb,at the end of the day we had a great run and I enjoyed the many great victories;ultimately we lost as a team, offense defense special teams.

Philly…I’m with you

People can say what they want to say about Mcnabb but can’t deny the team have not won a playoff game since he was traded and also this tema would be in better shape with Mcnabb as a Backup right now compared to the nothing on the bench behind Vick.

When we signed Vick all the haters who are now hating on McNabb hated on Vick…when the truth of the matter is the McNabb encouraged Vick’s signing.

Vick need to do the same if he really want to win a Superbowl…..lobby for Mcnabb to come in to back him up so if there’s an injury the team can win with little to no drop off.

paulman…you’re right.

Mike Kafka is a great option along with bum ass Trent Edwards f Vick go down for a few games.

Let’s make this clear ..ok?

Mcnabb playing on one leg with a path over one eye is better than every QB on this team behind Vick.

no songs – get it right – McNabb – in his prime, when his weight was down – was better then any QB on this team period…

what concerns me is that you seem to get your panties wadded all in a bunch about how the eagles drafted kolb.. and how it seemed to upset McNabb (I think your words were it made him disgruntled..) Now if McNabb is so healthy and so ready that he is better then Foles, Kafka and Edwards..

why not bring him in to compete with Vick? But why – if bringing in a rookie 2nd round DP makes a veteran disgruntled – how can bringing in a former Pro BOwl QB, that led the team to 5 NFCC games and the SB – NOT make Vick wonder what is going on –

it seems to be (huge surprise here) you are contradicting yourself.. in one case its fine to bring in a guy and the starter should be fine with it – in another – drafting a rookie made him ‘disgruntled’

seems we have another of you talking out both ends of your ass again –

care to explain?

If Vick goes down for a few games, the Eagles are toast anyways, Coach AR gave up on McNubb’s 3 Years ago, then Coach Shanahan gives up on McNubb’s 2 years ago and then to add insult injury, Mcnubb’s loses his Starting QB position tothe Vikings Rookie QB C Ponder after what 6-7 Games.. He’s toast.. Kafka will be a suitable back-up (similar to AJ Feely) and we’ll see how Nick Foles develops down the road.. The main ingredient for Eagles Success is to Vick to stay healthy and eliminate his risky play and stop taking all those extra unecessary hits and if he’s unable to do so, then Vick is toast and a goner after 2012 and so are the Eagles chances of winning a SB anytime soon.. It’s the way it is and hat have you done or me lately League… Vick needs to put up or shut up, No excuses

Songs only thinks the Eagles can win with Black QB’s, He’s rascist, end of story.. There I said it.. it’s the way it is was Songs.. last year he was GaGa over Vick, VY .. but soon as it comes to any white players on the Eagles ( Watkins,Kafka, Cooper,, C Hall, Matthews JR) They are all Ass to him.. Songs is such a Hypocrite and a Ass Clown

Navy, this have nothing to do with Kolb and that’s absolutely the wrong comparison here.

Kolb is ass and have always been ass.

Mcnabb wanted Vick and lobbied for him to be an Eagle so Vick wouldn’t feel threatened but welcome Mcnabb who would support and help Vick in this offense, and would definitely be a better backup to step in whe Vick go down for a few games.

If we’re talking about winning games then a QB who can step in and win games in the event of an almost probable injury to Vick during the season is a must…

There’s one guy out there who knows this offense and excelled in it with DJax and that’s McNabb.

His arm is stronger than every back up on this team and knows how to command a huddle.

Trent Edwards is garbage and so is Kafka..Get them both the hell outta here, pick up Mcnabb to backup Vick, and let Foles learn as the number 3.

songs, youu are flat out wrong on this one, no way in hell mcnabb wanted vick, he may have said it to the media, that’s his passive, aggresive, pussy style, but that clown is afraid of real competition, he pouted when the eagles drafted Kolb,,

and get this straight, the nfl, also known as the wwf, directed that vick sign with the eagles just like tebow to the broncos, and vick was never reid’s qb, reid was told to start vick over kolb

for someone like you rev. who borders on conspiracy theories its time for you to look a little closer at what the hell is going on in the nfl, vick is where he is because he makes the nfl money, that’s why his ass is in philly where loyal apologists will root for him no matter what, just read the crap on this site

Why do you have to call him McNubb?Hows that funny, hes the best QB in the history of the franchise and you disrespect him like hes Sam Dalembert!Regardless of how you want to hate he was an Eagle and a very good one.The decade he spent here was the greaest times I had watching football.Did it end painfully?Yes it did,but I still enjoyed season after season leading up to that point and I dont forget that unlike other people. Before Donovan we were covered nationaly like we were a small market team;he put us on a national level. We didnt win a SB before him,we havent won since, like it or not hes the benchmark that Eagle qbs have to live up to,he set the standard and flaws and all I can appeciate that.

WHat make any of you think that McNabb would even want to be a back-up in this league? Personally I think if a coach/FO didn’t guarantee him a spot as a starter before signing him, McNabb would not put 100% effort into the team (which is evident by all the fat, lazy, stupid reports which came out daily when he was with other teams). He is not a leader and never was in my opinion (never took responsibility and always threw others under the bus)…good but not great Qb. Was a product of Reid’s offense, which is evident of him sucking everywhere else he went. End of story.

some of guys here are too immature to talk about anything without sounding like they are 10 years old..

No need to call McNabb juvenile names… He was the best QB the team has ever had..

Should he be offered a spot on this team? HELL NO!

he wants to start, and if he comes here, he’ll be hell bent on trying to get his old job back. I dont want any drama from the players on this team this year. McNabb would come through the door thinking about himself and how he wants his spot back. He is nearly washed up, so having him back would be a bad idea.

I liked McNAbb who may have been the best in Eagle Franchise which still doesn’t say much.. His time was up and it was time to go like it will be for Vick if he doesn’t bounce back in 2012 and play much better than he did in 2011.. All these players a great athletes or they wouldn’t be in the NFL, they are all highly compensated as well, but they all come and go and I make no personal attachment to any of the players for it’s a professional sport that they choose to do which brings fans excitement, civic pride and anguish too on occasins but in a few years,w we’ll be talking aaout another set of players and no player is bigger than the Team. Mcnabb had his time and good career with the Eagles, but the past is the past and he would only be a major distraction to the Team,Coaches and Locker room where the Eagles have spent all this off-season getting the right, team focused attitude and morale back after last years fiasco with too many ego’s.. If Vick get’s hurt, then Vick get’s hurt.. what happens if D-Jax,McCoy, Celek ot T Cole or Asmo get hurt.. You carry 53 players and d oto the best you can in putting a Roster together counting on 35-40 players to be your Starters and significatn Rotational and Special Teams Players and then fill out the Roster with Depth, Youth, Draft Choices to help plan for the future and fill in the event of injury..

JAKE…WHAT IS A CONSPIRACY THEORY?

That’s a word one would use to ignore the truth in a statement and redirect people into an argument of conspiracy opposed to actually looking at what’s said.

For instance…2 planes hit the WTC – 3 Buildings fell.

The owner of the buildings told the firemen WTC7 was coming down and to evacuate the building…He gave the order with his own words to “pull it”

Pull it, is a demolition term for explosives used to bring down a building in it’s own footprint.

Now, everything I’ve just said is fact and is documented.

Is that what you call a conspiracy theory.
