It’s On The Line For Eagles Brandon Graham

Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham had better show up ready to play when he gets to training camp.  I’ve learned from an NFL source that the Birds would have no trouble saying good-bye to him if he doesn’t prove that he belongs.

I thought Graham looked better during the OTA’s, but I still don’t know that his knee which underwent microfracture surgery is capable of holding up to the demands of NFL football.  At times he seemed to be getting off on the ball with an impressive burst, but at other times he seemed to be favoring his injured leg as he tired.

There’s a reason the Birds drafted Marshall defensive end Vinny Curry, despite already having Pro Bowl defensive ends Trent Cole and Jason Babin.  They also have capable backups in Darryl Tapp and Phillip Hunt.

We’ve heard Andy Reid and defensive coordinator Juan Castillo talking about wanting to throw fastballs at the opposing offenses play after play.  They’re willing to admit that Graham was a mistake, if he doesn’t show prove his worth in this training camp.

He won’t make the team then go and star somewhere like new England as a 3-4 rush end hybrid

I hear you guys… He has a whole heck of a lot to proove. He should have all the motivation needed to succeed here. I have a feeling hes going to turn out a good enough season to stick around (not really what you want from the 13th overall pick).

I could be wrong, doubtful, but possible. Didnt New England move to a more traditional 4-3?

He was not done any favors by having Sean McDermott play him as a D tackle, nor did it help that Rory Seagrest was his d line coach. That deserves a mulliganby itself. He and Pierre-Paul had identical stats in their rookie year. Paul stayed healthy, Graham got injured, it’s football so it happens. I think Brandon will have a very good year and prove his worth. Perhaps it’s the Blue and maze blood in me. Hail to the victors and Go Eagles!!!

Sean McDermott playing Brandon Graham out of position at D tackle as a rookie, Rory Seagrest (STIFF) defensive line coach. Seriously, we wonder why Brandon did not flourish as a rookie. He was behind the proverbial 8 ball with this set of clowns molding his NFL d-lineman experience. Brandon’s rookie season was comparable to JPP’s rookie season amazingly enough with the coaching he receivedand howhe was misused. I think Brandon will have a very good year under coach Washburn and the wide 9.

Get him in the position he was projected as a 3-4 linebacker and he’ll succeed….This is just another example of the Eagles trying to be smarter than everyone else..

They should have drafted a defensive lineman that could flourish in a 4-3 scheme since our team actually play a 4-3.

Eaglehaslanded?

Who told us Sean McD & Segrest would do good in those positions?

Who evaluated them for those positions?

Is it the same guy who tell us Juan Castillo will be fine?

Songs, he wasn’t projected as a 3-4 linebacker. A few said that, but many said that he could flourish in a 4-3 as a DE. That’s a fact. I know you are used to oversimplifying things, omitting facts, saying bullshit, making things up. Etc. But fact is, (and eagle has landed you seemed to miss this too) – the ONLY thing so far in Brandon Graham’s NFL career that is negative and has been disappointment is his injury. Jim Washburn loved him as a 4-3 DE coming out of college. Hmm… who knows more about DL and DEs specifically, Jim Washburn or Songs. One guy is a proven stupid fan who blogs on this site, the other is a renowned proven expert on the highest professional level coach.

Hmm…

Well if G says he looks like he is favoring his injured leg as he tires just maybe he is coming back too soon

Brandon Graham has it all in front of him this right here ad right now.. He is 18 months removed from his knee Surgery and should be as healthy as he is going to be.. reportedly he is in great shape and dropped a few lbs to about 265lbs which was his normal playing weight.. I am curious to see how he looks and will be paying close attention to his cardio-vascular consditioning.. In his Rookie Season, I never saw a Pro Athlete get so winded so fast (besides the large NT’s).. but Graham appeared to be winded after 3 players and had totkae himself off the field for Oxegyn a few times his Rooki Season and I hope there is no physical problem with him and was more of a nervous enegery,over-hyped out type of deal.. now fast forward 2 years he must take the nexxt step up and prove he is worthy of playing time,,, With youngsters like Hunt/Curry and the consistent veteran D Tapp, it will probably come down to Graham/Tapp making the final Roster Spot at DE while the odd man out will probably get traded come mid Camp/Preseason time

Schiller, Your last post was simply stupid. How can you say in one line that he wasn’t projected as a 3-4 linebacker and then basically say in the next line a people did in fact project him as a 3-4 linebacker at the NFL level? You sound ridiculous and make absolutely no sense at all. Thats called tap dancing, you know the exact type of shit you accuse many of others at doing in their posts. Sounds a bit Hypocritical to me. What is simply true is that he was projected as a 3-4 linebacker by probably just as many that projected him as a 4-3 DE. In fact he was actually rated as the top linebacker in the entire draft that year by some mock drafts and pretty much was listed on every linebacker prospect chart that year…So hmmm when a player falls on both sides of those lists to me that happens to scream tweener whose future NFL position is kinda up in the air and is most likely not a pure 4-3DE player on the NFl level since if he was he would be listed primarily in the DE prospects and nothing else.
ON another note, What did you expect Jim Washburn to say? A guy who is on my current team sucks? YEa way to believe anything you hear from the Eagles mouth…which happens to also fall further in the category of hypocritical BS with you. Since you love to accuse people of being stupid/naive when they believe what Eagles Co. say to the press.
Just saying I can’t stand when people are blatant hypocrites on here.

Now on Brandon Graham..its put up or shut up, plain and simple. He needs a big year. HE has to stay healthy which is a trait/ability people will judge you on whether you like it or not. This guy has all the pieces in place to be successful as well. HAs the best Dline coach who could get like 4 sacks a year on the NFL level from an Eagles cheerleader if he was their coach. BG needs a big year not just for Eagles fans sake by for his own when it comes to the national level. JPP is a superstar and if he continues at his pace while BG does not…BG could easily be viewed as one of the NFLs all time busts 20 years from now when people look back at this draft. IM really looking forward to seeing how this guy responds this year…maybe the most intriguing player on this team to keep an eye on.

Paulman, I hope it does come down to Tapp/Graham (maybe they just keep them all who knows) and not Hunt. I really liked what I saw from Phillip Hunt. I have a feeling if we were to let him go, he could end up being a really solid player somewhere else.
