Notes From Phillies’ 7-4 Loss To Milwaukee

The Phillies lost their second straight game Thursday night, falling 7-4 to the Milwaukee Brewers.

  • Cliff Lee turned in a fine start, lasting 7.2 innings, giving up five hits, and striking out 12 batters. All three of the earned runs he surrendered came on solo home runs.
  • For the second straight game, the bullpen suffered an implosion that ruined a quality performance from the starter. On Wednesday it was B.J. Rosenberg, Raul Valdes, and Mike Schwimer combining for six earned runs in one inning, last night it was Jeremy Lindblom allowing three runs while recording just one out.
  • Lindblom was brought in with two outs in the eighth inning to face Ryan Braun, and intentionally walked him. Two batters later, he gave up a grand-slam shot to Corey Hart.
  • Even though an error by Kevin Frandsen helped keep the inning alive, Lindblom effort out of the bullpen still left a lot to be desired. He’s only been with the team for a few weeks, but it’s hard for me to imagine him being a quality eighth inning setup man in the future. I think he can be a quality reliever, but he’s not someone that it looks like you can trust late in a game.
  • Kevin Frandsen had a big night at the plate, going 3-5 with a three-run double.
  • Domonic Brown made a great play to snap a pop-up from the crowd in the seventh inning. He’s been dependable in the field so far since being recalled from the minors.
  • Laynce Nix got the start in centerfield, and went 1-3.
  • Ryan Howard had a three-hit game, and drove in a run.

Lee has given up a lot of HR’s this Season as the entire Starting PItchign Staff has from Doc,Hamels and when Blanton was here.. The Phils probably have given up more HR’s than any Starting Staff in the NL which is a not a good thing and needs to be corrected for next Season if they expect to compete for a PLayoff Spot..

I can’t believe, I’m still watching these stiffs! It’s absolutely f^#@ing torture! By the look of thing, it’s going to be a 2-3 year rebuilding process! They are absolutely HORRIFIC! We need an entire OF, a 3B, an entire BP, 2 starters, & bench pieces. Good luck with that Amaro, you f^#@ up! They need to trade Lee, & Rollins in the off-season, & hope that Utley retires. Amaro, & the entire coaching staff, NEED TO GO!!!! IT’S DISGUTING & EMBARRASING!!!! No way, we fill all of our needs, in one off-season, with good, competent, young, ball-players! NO WAY!!!

Phils will not be able to trade Rollins who will make $11 Million in 2013 & 2014,
This is a 3rd/4th Place Team over the next couple of Seasons.. The Days aof mediocre baseball are back in Philly.. Too many long-term signing based on what players did 2-3 years ago and not what they cae do for the next 2-3 years have this club hand-tied financially.. They dominated the NL for the last 5 Seasons with 1 Championship which is not all that great when you think about the talent they had (whicle in their primes) but those days are past as I have stated numerous times since the off-season.. The Nats/Braves will be the TOp Teams in the NL East for the next few seasons and Phils are no match for either Team interms of Talent,Athleticism and Managing….It is what it is..
