Eagles Make Moves To Get Roster Down To 75

The Eagles made the necessary moves today to get down to 75 players on their roster.

Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters, who tore his Achilles tendon twice, was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list. Peters isn’t expected to return to action this season.

Starting defensive tackle Mike Patterson, who is still recovering from off season brain surgery, was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list.  Patterson won’t be able to practice again until week six of the season.

Veteran guard Mike Gibson was placed on the Injured Reserve list with a minor injury (hip flexor).

They released free agent wide receiver Jamel Hamler.  His chances of making the team were very small with the abundance of talented personnel the Eagles have at the position.

The Eagles will have to be down to a 53-man roster by 9 p.m. on Friday, August 31st.

I believe Vick,Foles & Edwards all make the 53 Man Roster
I believe Kafka will get a mysterious injury and starts the Year on PUP to buy the Eagles some time.. I think they want to stash him for theSeason since the have invested 3 Year tiem with Him.. Edwards is not a bad #3 QB to have on your Roster in case of emergency

I couldn’t disagree with you more Larrwd..
Chris Polk was a workhorse at Washington University and has taken a lot of hits and pounding in his 4 Year Career in College.. Bryce Brown is hardley broken in and fresh and has much more upside in my opinion.. A good rule of thumb that many Scouts use, once a College RB has over 400-500 Carries in his COllege Career, expect a short shelf like in the NFL.. Those legs, knees, should can only take so many hits…

I also think that with the WR depth on the Eagles this Season that WR jeremy Maclin will be Traded (Probably to the Rams) for a Safety or a LB and Draft pick in return.. This way the Eagles can still keep D-Jax,Avant,Cooper,Danrius Johnson,Marvin McNutt and possible 3rd TE Brackett who can split out wide as he was a WR in College and use TE Clay Harbor more as a HB/FB..
This is my story and I am sticking with it…

Patterson will not practice or play in 2012, I Stated this last January and am sticking with it. In fact, I don’t ever expect him to play another down of Football and wish him the best of luck with his health in the future.. It’s a shame but he needs to be more concerned about his long-term healthy and his family than playing football as the Eagles already addressed his situation this off-season in Drafating Fletcher Cox and Re-Signing Derek Landri and now with the play of DT Cedric Thornton, he is not even needed by the Eagles

Would agree with you Pman on both individuals. Polk doesn’t try to avoid contact with moves & speed like Brown; he tries to punish people by leading with that left shoulder and that’s why he’s been injured; no other clubs chose to draft him. Bryce is multi-talented with big speed for his size. What a smart move by the Eagles in 7th rd. Not close between the two if you look carefully.
Patterson should retire and retain his health for sake of family. Just don’t believe the Eagles want to risk possible re-injury or death on their consciences… they’d be open to a huge lawsuit without unequivocal clearance by several doctors.
