Notes From Phillies’ 3-2 Loss To New York

The Phillies lost their second straight game on Tuesday, falling to the New York Mets 3-2.

  • Tyler Cloyd performed well in his major-league debut. He turned in a quality start, allowing three runs on seven hits through six innings. He walked two and struck out four.
  • Cloyd gave up a double to Scott Hariston to begin the second inning, and then hit Matt Baxter with a pitch. He then gave up a single to pitcher Matt Harvey that allowed the first run to score. However, he didn’t allow the fact that he let the pitcher do some damage bother him, and got the final two outs without allowing any more runs.
  • In the third inning, Cloyd got into some more trouble. Three batters in to the frame, he gave up a two-run home run to Lucas Duda. He then gave up two straight walks, but kept his composure and recorded a pair of strikeouts to end the inning.
  • Cloyd finished his night strong, retiring 11 of the final 12  batters he faced, including nine straight at one point.
  • For the second straight night, the offense just didn’t have a lot of energy. The managed just two runs on six hits.
  • Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins were responsible for the only RBIs.
  • Antonio Bastardo pitched to one batter, giving up a base hit.
  • Phillipe Aumont relieved Bastardo and looked good while getting through the eighth inning without letting up a run.

Can ANyone answer these 3 Questions

#1) Has the Phils beaten the Mets even once in 2012
#2) Why is Bastardo still Pitching. He’s been struggling since Spring Camp, shut the kid down and maybe you can salvage his Career..
#3) Utley taking some Fielding Practice at 3B, are you kidding me, Your quickness has to be that much better to play 3B than 2B, Convert Utley to LF or get rid of him (I’ve stated this for 2 Years now)

Thank you abnd have a nice Labor Day..
