According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Eagles are interested in signing Miami Dolphins free agent offensive tackle Jake Long, who has made four trips to the Pro Bowl during his time in the NFL. It seems that the Eagles are interested in moving Todd Herremans back into the guard position and not having to rely on former number one pick Danny Watkins.
Long, who was the number one pick in the 2008 draft, is only 28 years old. He has had quite a few injury problems during his time in the NFL. He has ruptured his left triceps muscle, as well as suffered injuries to his knee, biceps and shoulder.
It’s understandable why the Eagles would interested in Long because he’s the best offensive tackle on the market and he would help to solidify the offensive front. The Birds would feel good about their tackles if they could line up Jason Peters on one side and Long on the other.
I’m sure that the Eagles have set a ceiling regarding how much they would be willing to pay him, but remember they have as much money to spend as anybody.

Cannot disagree more .I know its hard to sit and watch a lot of the big names get signed but i had seen an article that half the leagues teams had 10 mil or less to spend .The eagles will be sitting pretty in a day or 2 .I really believe that they will be able to add 6 or 7 quality free agents, and then will have a great draft with tom gamble around to help out hr.The more film i watch of ej manuelthe more i like him. I think he will be their guy early in rd 2 ,or even jumping up into the late 1st .I liked the way he threw more than geno smith.

The journeyman former fifth-round pick appeared in all 16 games for the Panthers last season, playing 103 snaps on defense. Phillips is injury prone, but could carve out a role in an Eagles defense that’s going to be on the field a lot in 2013 because of Chip Kelly’s quick-strike offense.

Eagles signed S Pat Chung, formerly of the Patriots, to a two-year contract.
Chung played at Oregon while coach Chip Kelly was the offensive coordinator. He easily becomes the Eagles’ best safety, despite falling out of favor in New England. He’s still just 25 years old, and is a physical player at 5-foot-11 and 212 pounds.

Eagles signed NT Isaac Sopoaga to a three-year deal worth nearly $12 million, with $5 million guaranteed.
Rather than blowing their wad on a Dashon Goldson or Sean Smith, the Eagles are trying to rebuild their roster by simply adding good football players. Sopoaga is a two-down nose tackle, but should help shore up Philly’s run defense at 6-foot-2 and 330 pounds — fire hydrant size. He’ll anchor the new 3-4 defense.

Will be strong against the run, short yardage and red-zone Packages, about a 40 snap a game player and strong as an OC.. Will be replaced in passing downs when Eagles slide Fletcher Cox from DE to DT in 4 man rushing schemes
