Reactions To The Sixers’ Draft Night

noelFirst off, I would like to make apologies to Sam Hinkie for calling him a “Buddhist Monk” on a silent vowel on twitter. Going into this draft I was excited and frustrated.  I know that is a helluva combination. Well, those feelings changed quickly once the draft started.  I have to hand it to Hinkie, the dude came out swinging. Trading your best player and so called future of your franchise?  Hinkie acting like a boss.

When the trade went down for Nerlens Noel I was confused as hell. I couldn’t believe that Jrue was part of the deal. My heading was spinning. The Sixers also received a first round pick in 2014 (Top 3 protected). As soon as that traded started to sink in the Sixers were drafting PG Michael Carter-Williams. I needed a drink by then. I didn’t realize there was a lot more to come. The Sixers were making another trade to acquire South Dakota SG Nate Wolters at No. 38.

As I was righting this Hinkie makes another trade. Yes, try to keep up because I can’t. The Sixers traded Wolters to the Bucks for 6″6′ SG Ricky Ledo out of Providence.  Ledo was selected by the Bucks with 43rd pick.  Then Hinkies decides to trade Ledo for PF Arsalan Kazemi (Oregon). Kazemi was picked by the Wizards (for the Sixers) at 54.

I am not even sure if I got all that right. What a wild night. Before I get to the players, let me touch on Brown real quick. Brown has been with the Spurs since July 2002 and moved to the bench as an assistant coach before the start of the 2006-07 season.  Before Brown was with the Spurs he coached 14 seasons (9 as HC) in the Australasia National Basketball League. Brown led the Aussies to a seventh-place finish in the 2012 London Olympic Games. He has been under “Pop” the past 7 years, so I like this idea.

Moving on to the players now. Noels is a force defensively, though he is very raw offensively. He might be out until Christmas time with his torn ACL. Carter-Willams has great vision even better than Jrue, though Carter-Williams struggles with his jumper. Arsalan is decent at attacking the rim. The 6’7″ PF is the first Iranian drafted in the NBA.

Lastly, I will miss Jrue. He was the one guy you could enjoy watching this year on a team that was unwatchable. Jrue should have some fun with Anthony Davis. Wishing, Jrue the best of luck.

Some might not like this move. The bottom line is that the Sixers were not going to win with Jrue anytime soon and he had the most value. Sometimes you need to take a step back before you move forward.

To recap the Sixers acquire Nerlens Noel, Michael Carter-Williams, Arsalan Kazemi, a 2014 1st round pick from New Orleans, and two 2014 2nd round picks from Milwaukee and Dallas. I need sleep.

Neither player, bring anything offensively to the table. Noel will be out until December. The pick we got is top 5 protected, not top 3. Same with our pick. Carter-Williams, is a prototypical PG. He’s big, good defensively & a good passer. Noel is the definition of a project, & an injured 1 to boot! It’s funny, they waved the white flag, before the draft even ended! LOL! Irrelevancy is a bitch! And I thought this team couldn’t get any worse! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Well, at least they’re rebuilding correctly, now it’s time to ship out ET, Mr. Softie Hawes, Brown stain, & Fat-boy Allen!!!!

Wow what a remarkable night. Hinkie not only stripped the 76ers down he also cleared cap space. Its reported that ET was almost traded for a late 1st round pick. Don’t worry he will be gone. Hel lwho knows we maybe able to make arun at Lebron and another stud FA if he shakes loose after 2014with all this cap space. I have no problems with last nights moves.

What has Philly sports become? I have never been more excited to watch two team I know will be bad this upcoming season with the Eagles and 76ers. maybe its because (even though they try) I know 1-2 high priced FA in hockey doesnt work. 38 years and counting. Maybe its because I know the Phillies need to follow suit with the 76ers and strip it down and build it up, the Ben Revers of the world aren’t bringing us back to the promise land. If the basketball gods are good to us Noel and MCW, one will become a player. You then hope next year we can get 2 top 10 draft picks, ours a top 2 to get Wiggens or Jabari Parker in a very deep and talented draft to go along with another pick 4-10 from NO. Then in 2014 which has a ridiculous FA class from Zach Randolf, Melo, Lebron, Kyrie Irving and many more the 76ers potentially will be 40 million under the cap. Even if Hawes and ET aren’t traded they are FA in 2014. All this is possible after just 1 night. Brilliant Mr Hinkie just brilliant. Basketball gods please show your grace for us 76er fans!

I also give credit too is Josh Harris because this team is going to take a bath next year in attendance. But this needed to be done.

The Sixers and the Bobcats are probably going to be the two worst teams in the East. Hopefully the Pelicans will be just bad enough to stay in the lottery. And hopefully the Sixers can get lucky next year.

I like the balls Heinke showed, and his aggressiveness, but I wouldn’t have trade Jrue for a flat out Bum with no Offensive game, and not enough ass to survive in the middle. Michael Carter Williams also needs to play behind a veteran point guard to learn the pro game. Dennis Schroeder would have been a better choice; Has an offensive game, can play defense, and a better overall future than Carter.

The best thing we did was get an extra 1st Round for next year, lower our cap number, and put us in a position to be players in free agency in 2014….Can you say LaMarcus Aldridge, and DeMarcus Cousins?

Nerlins should start eating 4000 calories a day and get big. Otherwise his twigs will be snapping throughout his career. 7 ft 220 lbs won’t work in the nba

OK, HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH THESE GUYS WHO THINK THEY KNOW BASKETBALL TALENT.

JaBari Parker is a good prospect, but not on the level that some hype him to be. I have heard comparisons to Carmelo Anthony….not!!

He’s good but not that good. He will be a piece of a championship puzzle but not the cornerstone.

Yeah Right Jake HAHAHAAHAH!!!! But I’m right most of the time. Parker is Michael Beasley. Noah Vonleh is a Monster Mash Clone.

I’ve learned not to say much. Some guys on this site won’t learn until their obvious choices fail like: Thomas Robinson, Jared Sullinger, Tyler Zeller, Meyers Leonard, and Terrance Jones.

This years bust are Cody Zeller, Trey Burke, Alex Lin, Otto Porter, and Ben McLemore. You heard it here first.

The Noel trade really shocked me because we just had to go through a headache with Bynum’s injured knees now we take a raw Noel with knee problems. Hopefully he can get healthy and see some action at the end of his rookie season.

As for Michael Carter-Williams, I think this guy will be even better than Jrue Holiday. I saw this guy play in high school at a high school showcase in 2010 and his team played Andre Drummonds team. Cater-Williams stole the show, scoring 42 points and controlling the game. He’s the type of guy that has star potential. His jump shot needs some work but he’s young and will get better at that. But his mentality and control of the court will make a great future sixer. This guy is the real deal.

I like the philosophy. Shed salary and start young. Noel could be a Marcus Cambyses without the offense. Next year they get some decent players and build.

Seems that this second round trade is maybe the most confusing ever. I noticed in this article you seemed to think we got 2 second round picks for next season, but I didn’t see that information anywhere else.

Sixers picked 35th > traded for > 38th selection & 54th selection > Kept 54th & traded 38th selection for > 43rd selection & Second round pick. Then Traded > 43rd selection (Ledo) for > ________________________

Basically to sum it up, that would be: Trading 35th overall pick for: > 54th selection & 2 picks in the second round next season (if your article is right).
but no extra player from that…

I love the Deals..
Basically the 76ers traded Jrue for Noel who many saw as the #1 Pick this Year plus a 1st Rounder in 2014.. With the Addiotion of PG Williams , they have 2 Starters with long range Potential that they can grow with and on Roomie Deals where JRue would be looking at a big deal when his current contract is up
Lots of Cap Space and Kazemi is a poor Nan’s Joakim Noah, a banger, rebounder and a more athletic PF than many think and should work well with Noel as a tandem
With the additional 2 2nd Round Picks recreived, the 76ers are positioned to make some more moved in the 2014 Draft which is considered to be an excllent one..great first Draft by Hinkie as he puts his stamp and remakes the 76er
With size, defense and fundamentally sound young Players who are all Coachable, high motors and have upside..

Wow, the Sixers set out to make an impact and didn’t sit idle.
I worry about Noel, he’s so skinny, can he really bang with the big boys in the NBA? Love the Carter-Williams pick, he looks like he could be the steal of the draft. Please trade Evan Turner.
I’m glad they made the moves they made. They had become irrelevant, now there is a reason to watch. Still curious who they hire as coach.

The Sixers tried to trade away Evan Turner during Thursday’s draft, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Tyler Tynes.
All the Sixers wanted in exchange for Turner was a late first-round pick. The fact that they could find no takers speaks volumes. In three seasons since going No. 2 overall in the draft, Turner has failed to improve his brutal jump shot, clashed with former coach Doug Collins and earned a bust label. New GM Sam Hinkie would probably accept a ham sandwich for the Ohio State product.

Paulman, hands down the biggest fraud, bullshitter extraordinaire , passive aggresive racist, profiler, he’s entertaining if you can look past his nonsense, but ultimately a ” hater”, big time pussy

Dcar, will there ever be a bigger loudmouth, look at me, I’m one eight this, that, I work hard, you don’t, I know more than you, I will kick your ass if you disagree with me, what another pussy loud mouth

Gmcliff, less obnoxious, but equally odious with his bragging about his scouting ability, sucks nonetheless

There’s no hate, partly tongue in cheek, but partly true, more observational, and certainly meant to instigate

Paulman, you make some of the most off color comments about race, ethnicity, yet you say you never make it personal, well it’s personal to the group that identifies with your disparaging comments

Dcar, you are the loudest, biggest braggart, biggest bully jackass I have encountered, thankfully for you it’s only through internet communication,

And gmcliff is so damn arrogant that he’s a blowhard too

Now for the top three gcobb posters as determined by the big dog:

Vinnie, hands down, the smartest, most articulate, knowledgeable eagles fan,his limitation is his arrogance at times, and his tunnel vision on vickology

Songs, the most reverend, erudite, instigating, Socratic in his approach, no doubt blinded by prejudice, but unabashed about it, besides will offer sound historical perspective and advise on health issues, vaccines, aspertame, etc

A close third, one of my all time favorites and early sparring partner about the eagles, a four sports Philly fan, mr. Phillywill, loyal though mistaken supporter of Vick, mcnabb, extreme intellect , he checked out of here because of the omniscient blow hards

You make racist comments all of the time (paul is the resident “DEGO” Lurie likes his black QB’s, “you don’t care if I’m black, Italian, Cherokee”, just a few). You’re an attention seeking, pathetic little man. You’re the GCobb, internet heavyweight champion. I never brag, nor bully anyone. The only times, I’ve EVER brought up my mixed heritage & race, the only times I’ve ever mentioned my background, & the only times I’ve called people out, was in response to clueless, punk racists like you, your boy Songs & the rest of the race mongers on here. I’ve ONLY called out, know nothing punks like you, Jon Hart, haveavagina, mhenski, & Schiller, in response to their initial unwarranted verbal bashing of me, my manhood, intelligence, Family comments against me & my honest assessments of the teams. I’m guilty of being brutally honest, over-the-top, & using profanity most of the times, but I’ve never bullied anyone unwarranted, nor unprovoked, & I never brag, because I have ZERO to prove to irrelevant people in my life (posters on here), & couldn’t care any less, what ball-less, douchebags like you think about me! You are an attention seeking goofball, an ignorant racist, a coward, a bipolar hypocrite, & a joke of a man! I will continue to always be my brutally honest, realistic, factual, informed self, that uses his unbiased brain, & I will continue to defend against ALL the racists on here! I have ZERO tolerance, nor patience, for racism, bigotry, ignorance, ill-informed stupidity, hypocrisy & keyboard tough guys, so if you don’t like me, what I have to say, or what I stand for, you have choices-
1- Look at yourself in the mirror & change YOURSELF!
2- Don’t provoke me unwarranted, with stupid digs & childish comments.
3- Don’t read, or respond to my comments.
4- Go F^#@ yourself.
5- Grow a pair & do something about it.
I’d go with 1-3, if I where you. I try to be civil, humorous, & discuss intelligent ways of changing the dreck, that is now our local 4. But, some of you imbecilic numbnuts, are incapable of using your brains in conversations, are in denial, are irrational, are delusional, & think with your hearts in the past, instead of using your brains, for the betterment of the now & future!
