Plenty Of Eyes On Chip And QB’s, As Eagles Report To Camp

The Eagles quarterbacks, rookies and a group of selected veterans are scheduled to show up on Monday at the Nova Care Complex for the start of the team’s training camp.  The rest of the team will make their first appearance on Thursday.  The first group will get the chance to get in a practice on Tuesday and another on Wednesday before the entire team shows up on Thursday.

Among that first group will be the two quarterbacks, Michael Vick and Nick Foles, who will battle it out for the starting quarterback spot.  The competition between Vick and Foles is one of the top stories around the NFL going into camp.  Just three years ago, Vick was in the running for the league’s MVP award, but after two turnover-plagued seasons, the veteran will be competing against second-year signal caller, Foles, for the chance to lead this offense.

I was at the NFL Rookie Symposium in Ohio a couple of weeks ago and people throughout the league were asking about what to expect of Chip Kelly’s offense, then they asked about Vick and Foles.

NFL players and coaches as well as NFL fans are eager to see what style of play Kelly brings to the league.  Along with that, they’re eager to see whether he decides to go with Vick or Foles.   Nearly everybody has an opinion concerning which quarterback they think he should go with.

Another name that keeps coming up amongst the NFL journalists is Eagles former Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters.  They know how much losing Peters hurt the Eagles rushing and passing game last year, so they wonder how well he’ll be able to play after suffering an Achilles tendon tear.  If Peters is able to play all year at full strength and mobility, it will give which ever quarterback gets the starting job a chance to succeed.

If Peters suffers through the season with the same type of leg trouble that Phillies slugger Ryan Howard, another athlete who suffered an Achilles tendon tear, then the Eagles offense has a lot better chance of struggling.

The football year is upon us. All the bickering of who should start really doesn’t matter. If Vick is here he is gonna play. Foles is gonna play. Barkley will probably eventually play. If Vick starts it wont be forever just like Foles. We will get a chance to watch all of them in reality. Lets get it. Let the journey begin!

My sleeper pick for rookies that will impress us is…………EARL WOLFF. I think this kid might be better than we thought. He has a lot to work on with his game, but with safeties we have now. He will get some playing time to do so.

I like Wolff too and got to see him play often over the last couple of years while playing for NC State on TV here in NC (ACC Country).. He’s not a big hitter, but very sound fundamentally, seems to always be in position and a sound Tackler.. He will get a lot of reps this Summer.. I have a feeling that Kenny Phillips knee is not going to hold up thru Camp and may not even make the final 53 Man Roster.. I see Allen & Chung as Starters with Coleman & Wolff as the Back-up’s Special Teamers

A couple of Rookies I am looking forward to watching are WR/Scat Back/Returnman Russell Shepard and CB Jordan Poyer and LB Jake Knott and WR I Momah and OL M Bamiro who they signed last week
