Fight Breaks Out At Eagles Practice Between Cary Williams And Riley Cooper

RileyCooper&CaryWilliams1A fight just broke out all of sudden at the Eagles practice at the Nova Care Complex. Eagles cornerback Cary Williams was covering wide receiver Riley Cooper as he ran an inside slant route during the one-on-one drills near the beginning of practice.

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick threw the ball to Cooper, who dove for the football but Williams knocked the ball down with his left hand.  He also had his right arm wrapped around Cooper as he took him to the ground.

Cooper felt like he had been tackled and the practice was only in shorts, helmets and shells, so he got up and approached Williams to grab him.  But Williams stepped back and started firing punches.  The cornerback was landing punch after punch on Cooper, but the wide receiver had his helmet on to protect himself.  Cooper tried to lift his hands to protect himself, but he didn’t fire back any punches.  Williams also grabbed Cooper’s helmet to prolong the scuffle.

Cornerbacks Bryce Brown and the newly acquired Shaun Prater came into grab Williams and break up the fight, but the former Ravens cornerback wasn’t interested in breaking it up, so he continued pursuing Cooper can yelling at him.

Eventually Vick came in and grabbed Williams to cool him down.  Defensive back coach Todd Lyte came into help Vick as they tried to talk some sense into Williams.  It seemed that Williams said something that fired up Vick, so Lyte stepped in to get Vick out of the altercation and back into the huddle.   At the end of it all, wide receiver DeSean Jackson came in and escorted Williams out of the action.

i like it who thinks it had anything to do with vent up frustration over coopers racial slur so he lashed out only way he can. Also Cooper was smart not trying to fight because knowing the media it would back up that cooper is in fact Racist and not that he was defending himself but hey get riled up for it so we are ready for the skins.
Also Williams is going to get in the Redskins ears.

Just dont get ejected or kicked out for it but yes even if his approach isnt likeable he can instill what the Defense has needed which is Attitude and and Chippy Defense.

Also and i know its pre-season but him being on Defense was like night and day

This would be great if Williams could actually cover someone.

He is all talk, but doesn’t have the game to back it up. He will have more penalties than INT’s this year. Baltimore had Lewis and Reed to reign in this crackpot, who on the Eagles defense can keep this guy from causing them trouble on the field?

CHIP KELLY. But i think there are players on our D that dont have to be Lewis or Reed that can control him plus i think Riley cooper could of popped him one in the lip an he would calm down but then again that would be Racisim.

i think cary is on the short leash with chip as you can tell after his outbursts chip talks him down an he changes his stance on the matter but it was a scuffle nothing more nothing less.

If these are lingering feelings from what Cooper said then Coach Kelly needs to get this shit settled and settled fast…If he has to let Riley fight every single player that has a problem with him, then so be it…But this can’t be going on, a distraction that isn’t needed before the first game of the season…ESPN is already running wild with this shit.

I have a feeling Cary Williams will be public enemy #1 this season for Eagles fans. Nothing worst than a guy that talks tough on the field but cant back it up in his play.

I want attitude on this defense but I want it coming from guys that can actually play. Williams will be getting burned all season long, and then he will throw temper tantrums the following drives costing us 15 yard penalties. Esp with the whole bed bath and beyond shopping (whatever the hell it was) Im to good to practice crap he pulled earlier, I don’t think he is going to survive this city.

Pot calling the kettle black, bruh! Neither of these dogs should be on the team. Cooper is useless, & should have been waved right after the comment, & Williams is a bum, that should have never been signed in the 1st place. He was ranked in the lowest 1/4 of the NFL CB’s, last year. He sucks @$$, isn’t a team player, will get burned routinely, & get many stupid penalties. BTW, what jersey you wearing, Vick, RGIII, Wilson, Kapernick, Smith, or Manuel? Flat out fool, troll!

diddy, he had nothing to do with them winning the SB. As a matter of a fact, he almost got thrown out of the game, for shoving the ref. He was burned all game, & all season, & was at top of the league, for penalties to a secondary player. He is a punk, loud mouth, that can’t play, & is no better than DRC. Guaranteed to be burnt, at least twice a game. He’s a solid tackler, but he sucks in coverage. Think a combination of Izell Jenkins skills & Andre Waters temperment, without his skills. He will be villafied by week 2-3. Bank on it!

haveacigar- it’s not the word so much as it is who uses it. It’s a terrible disgusting word. It’s also the reality of how the word was created, by whom and for what reason. It’s not the same. Yes you I to get a kick out of it when someone tries to play victim when they are, not so it is very funny. I don’t care about the media, they are going to hype it up. The players, perhaps some of them do. But you must put yourself right up there with them because you are complaining about it not being fair and where is the national outrage. All is not fair in this world, it doesn’t feel good when it’s not fair to you.

speaking of victims think of the low expectations of ones own people to use such an offensive word toward one another. you don’t hear other persecuted and victimized people calling each other by their slur names– NEVER! They are too busy recovering from their victimization and moving forward– and once they have they become contributing members–
As an educator I have worked with and for many many AA colleagues and non of them use that word– they are too busy becoming successful– my mentor who i loved dearly was a principal about 20 years ago and heard a kid use the word with GA on the end– he took him into a vacant classroom and jacked him against the wall and laid him out about respect and the vulgarity of it all — i guarantee he’d be with me on this one if he was alive today.

– The Vietamese might disagree with you on that (See their entire history)

– And yes AA might disagree with you on that (history book spectacle lynching, Jim-Crow, Share-cropping post slavery, The Tuskeegee experiment, the current prison industrial complex)

– so no the Jews were not the most persecuted group in the 20th century. There persecution was just caught up in WW2 but WW2 was not fought b/c of their persecution.

To your other point..I grew up surrounded by Jews and Catholics and I can assure you that Jews refer to themselves with stereotypically derogatory terms and also perpetuate widely held Jewish stereotypes – I just don’t suggest you do it.

My point is that other persecuted groups don’t speak that way so openly and ignorantly. They move on build great societies and assimilate if necessary. They conform to the norms but the ignorance and low expectations that say its ok to speak this way is a hindrance in moving past the atrocity done to them

WW2 was fought b/c Hitler was a problem.

Had England fallen he would have taken over the rest of Europe (though the Russian excursion wasn’t bright) and then would have crossed the seas…we sent a barge full of Jewish women and children back tot heir death…we allowed Pear harbor to be bombed ’cause that was the only way to really convince the American people to get involved with what was viewed as a Eurpoean problem.

WW2 was not fought b/c of the Jews it was fought b/c Hitler was a REAL world threat…and Churchill had to do a lot of begging and pleading to convince the US to get involved.
