Thursday Night Football Pick

Jay CutlerMy Overall Record: 47-30

New York @ Chicago

The New York Giants are a completely lost football team right now. Allowing over 35 points a game and committing four turnovers every week is an easy formula to begin the year 0-5.

Its not going to get any better for the G-Men as they travel to Chicago for a Thursday night match with the Bears.

The Giants will be without top running back David Wilson, who is week-to-week with a neck injury. Tom Coughlin will have try to establish a running game with some horrid combination of Brandon Jacobs, Da’Rel Scott, and Michael Cox.

The Chicago Bears are one of the best in the league at creating turnovers, and a home match against the Giants, who have been serving up turnovers on a silver platter all year, will be an easy win for Marc Trestman’s Bears.

Pick: Chicago 37, New York 17

I rarely ever pull for another NFC East Team but a Giants Victory over the Bears would help the Eagłes Standing as far as the NFC goes.
A Bears loss drops them to 3-3 and an Eagłes win at Tampa makes them 3-3 making the Bears-Eagłes game later in the Season a real important one as far as positioning for a potential Playoff Spot

There are only a few Teams with a .500 Record or better
In the NFC right now
Saints, Seahawks,49ers, Lions, Packers & Bears and that’s it..

Thursday night games are stupid. This one could get away from the Giants real quick, if Chicago does what they normally do, and that’s feast off turnovers. NYG does have a bit of a chance, and that is because Jay Cutler still loves giving the ball to the other team at inopportune times during a game. He may keep NYG alive.

As for your scenario Paul – if playoffs are the goal, then the most direct and plausible route is through winning the NFC East. NYG in freefall, Wash with no D and a QB who wasn’t ready to start the s4eason and a Dallas team surrounded by a fanbase and a press corps that wants Romo’s head (even though it is a TEAM GAME!!!). So any losses of NFC East teams help the Eagles.

Yes I agree Vinnie that Winning the NFC East is the most likely scenario to make the PLayoffs for the Eagles or any other NFC East Team
but when you look around and only see that 6 NFC Teams have .500 Recors or better now opens up the possibility that a 9-7 Record can make one of the Wildcard Spots which I didn’t think was possible before the Season Started
Who would have thiought the Giants would be 0-5, Falcons 1-4 , Vikings 1-4 , Packers at 2-2, 49ers at 3-2 etc,etc .. My Point is that the NFC Playoff Race is wide open and it will come down to the Eagles going 4-2 in NFC East Games where they are now 2-0 and going at least 2-2 o rmaybe 3-1 versus the NFC North Teams (Packers,Bears,Lions & Bears) and then Beating TB Bucs and Arizona Cardinals) which is all very possible..
If you are going to lose games, dropping them to AFC Opponents doesn’t hurt as bad as far as the NFC Playoff Race goes.. Eagles have a great opportunity to make a run if they play well versus their NFC COunterparts and beat Teams like the Bucs,Lions,Cardinals,Vikings,COwboys,Giants,Redksins

Vin, did you just say its a TEAM game? WOW, I would never know when it comes to the Eagles, from listening to you and a few other guys on here I thought it was all Vicks fault.

Its a team game, but one position is more important than any others.

Vick isn’t the only problem, but he certainly isn’t helping. And many times he does hurt them. He sucks. Plus, the entire culture of the team has to change, and that always starts with the coach, then the QB.

BTW – if I was a Cowpokes fan I’d also be calling for Romo to go (before anyone else) because everyone in the universe knows he’s never going to win a SB.

One of the biggest problems with Vick is that he becomes the focus instead of playing a role QB he plays QB, RB, and Creates CHAOS for BOTH teams. Vicke breaks a team apart why oh why after 10 years do so few see this!!!!!!

Because his teammates and coaches have not said this. Because he himself has said very good things so far this year.

Tuck and Pierre Paul looked like Mike Vick limping yelping and rolling around in pain every quarter against the birds. I like the Bears tonight, only a Vick could get hurt by running into a pedestrian pass rush like the giants, Cutler isn’t that dumb.
