Making Sense Of Eagles-Raiders

folesraidersCome on Kelly; you should have given Foles the opportunity for sole possession of single game touchdown record. Being tied with Peyton Manning and Y. A. Tittle will have to do. I have to find something to complain about from what was an absolute dismantling of the Oakland Raiders.

Cooper with three touchdowns, DeSean with a monster game, Ertz with his first NFL touchdown and even a Brent Celek citing. No reason for the Eagles to really establish the run game, but McCoy still found pay-dirt with a TD catch. And our defense continues to get better. Bryce Brown looked like the back we saw last year. All these great things happening, and questions of what and why the offense was so brutal over the previous two weeks have me completely lost. Was it simply because Vick was playing hurt and Barkley is garbage? Is Foles the real deal and simply had an awful game versus Dallas?

No quarterback controversy heading to Lambeau Field. Foles versus Rodgers, the only thing left to be decided is how many points the underdog Eagles will be. There is no way we can go stride for stride with the Packers, could we? The Packers are down several starters from when the season began both on the offensive and defensive side of the football. We should be able to score points, after what we saw today.

How do you go from one extreme to the next with this offense? Would it be too much for me to ask that Kelly does away with the read-option? Run the ball with both backs, utilize both tight-ends on a weekly basis, and not just flirt with it here and there. The Packers have a defense that is smart, but lack elite speed to stick with the big play potential we can attack them with. They are going to bring the heat to disrupt Foles, so Kelly it’s on you to put the NFL level game plan together.

The Eagles have me completely out of sorts. It’s been seasons within the season with the 2013 squad.

We still don’t know who Nick Foles is. Our defense was brutal when we faced a top tier quarterback in Peyton and now we have Rodgers to deal with. Our running game since the Tampa Bay game has still been a fraction from what it was when the season started, but we obviously can expect a drop-off without having a guy like Vick in there both adding to the total and opening up holes for McCoy with the read-option.

I don’t know, I want to know, but at the same time I wouldn’t even know where to start. I’m not comfortable with understanding this team. Media who have made a living covering the Eagles for decades can’t explain all that has unfolded nine weeks into the Chip Kelly inaugural season. It’s not about being a football expert, but being a fan.

What can I say? What is left for me to attempt to make sense of? Can my fellow Eagles fan help me to figure out the real Philadelphia Eagles?

VS NYG, TB and Oak:
60 of 84 (71%) for 899 yarss 12 tds 0 ints

That is beyond sick

VS Dallas
11 of 29 (38%) for 80 yards 0td 0 int

Very very bad

So far that’s 3 fantastic games (all wins) and one terrible game (loss)

heading in the right direction I think.

3 to one good to bad.

Amazing how the oline looks with a competent QB at the helm. Makes their job easier. Amazing how our Wrs and TEs look with a competent QB at the helm. Makes their job easier.

Great quote from Ryans who says how much fun it is when the O is out there doing there job. Amazing how it looks with a competent Qb at the helm.

Too bad this didn’t start at the start of the year and we had to waste 4 games “winning now!!”

3 good games to one bad means a 12-4 record or
if you remove NYG game and just go with Foles starts,
2 good games to one bad game means 10-5 record.

Lets Enjoy the Ride as Fans,
No need to over-undercAnalyze yesterday’s fantastic performance for it was magical to watch and improbable to occur again.. Team was hitting on all cylinders, time to throw, receivers running open all over the field and cat hi g the ball, great play calling, staying agressive once having the lead
and getting the Starters out in the 4th Quarter to prevent needless injuries and get some of the back-ups some playing time
Defense is looking much better over the last month, Soecial Teams played very well.. They Protected the Ball, were not penalized too often
And were disciplined, focused and played with a lot of energy..
Day to rest up, plan and prepare for Packers who will be in a tough battle tonight with their rival, the Bears.. On to the next Game with a lot at stake
And a Playoff Chase that really begins in earnest with 7 NFC Conference Games left to play..

totally agree here!

Great game that will probably not happen again no matter how well any QB plays. Everything worked to perfection. Once in a lifetime performance and it was fun to enjoy!

“Whenever I’ve looked at records my whole life, the greatest thing about it is the guys you do them with,” Foles said. “This is something that’s special for the Philadelphia Eagles organization. You have to look at the components — the O-line blocking, guys running great routes, making huge catches. It’s special for all our teammates.”

I, I, I when things go wrong. We, we, we when things go right.

That was fun to watch. He made some really nice throws and some to WRs running by themselves.

DJ Hayden wanted to go home I think.

I really think Vick Supporter, Songs, Skayne, and TheOne need to come out of their holes and comment on why we need to go back to Vick. I’m really excited to hear their excuses.

I’m pretty sure their argument is: “Vick Can Run! Foles Can’t”

Big, why do you always defend the Vick defenders, then try to say you ain’t 1 of them? Inquiring minds want to know. Just saying….

It was apparent from his first preseason game against new england that he had the tools to be starting nfl quarterback, great size, good arm, pocket awareness, elusiveness and instincts, these are rare traits in combination, some have the arm, but not the package like foles

His development since then is typical of a good nfl prospect quarterback, if not superior at least by his numbers, but he has had tremendous games and at least one poor performance, but looking at his body of work over nine games there may not be a better prospect at qb in the nfl right now

Nick foles played the best game in eagles franchise history

Nick foles played one of the greatest games in nfl history

These achievements do not occur because of anything but talent, rare, rare talent

It’s now time to build around the next franchise quarterback

Completely agree. 2 weeks ago when Foles played against Tampa Bay Ike Reese & the other broadcaster got on the radio and said: “Foles played above himself today.” “Don’t expect Foles to have many performances like this.”

Well in 2 out of the 3 weeks he has started this season w/ 1st string talent around him, he has played EXCEPTIONAL! So far one can easily argue that he has outplayed Andrew Luck, RG3, and Russel Wilson in his short time as a starting Quarterback.

It’s still possible that Foles may prove to be a 1 month hero, but his play on sunday was unlike something I have ever seen.

He makes the Quarterback position look so Easy. He makes it look so easy that people start to think they could play quarterback for this team. Fact is the man knows how to find the holes in the defense and exploit them better then almost anyone in the game.

Watching him play yesterday was magnificent.

best thing about Foles which was noticed his rookie year is he is brave in the pocket. never looks rattled in the pocket with or without pressure.

Except in the Dallas Game he looked a bit uncomfortable and that was Out of Character.

I have been a Foles guy and loved yesterday.

If he were a 1st rounder and we were seeing his 9 starts people would be talking about how he is really developing and Philly will have something special very soon.

I was told that Foles was ass…that he had a baby arm and couldn’t run. After starting 9 games it is still early to anoint him as “the guy”, but so far he has had more positive results than poor. I want to see how he deals with the rest of the season. How Kelly deals with him as his QB, and how the other players on the offense perform with him as their leader.

It probably is too early. Look at Colin Kappy in San Fran played lights out for 10 games last year and when team tried to hand him the keys he sucked. San Fran quickly went back to the same way they played with Alex Smith simply because Kappy is still not ready to be the focus of the team……yet.

Either way the rest of this season will give the team enough to know if Foles is ready to be the franchise or they still need to look. If they continue to win it will be probably because Foles plays very well. If they lose it will probably be because Foles didn’t get it done.

Love what I see so far, but after week one everyone in the league was labeling Kappy the greatest QB every until they got stomped two games in a row.

I sure hope Foles shows the fans and the team he can grow into a franchise QB. Yesterdays game was incredible! Hope it means Foles is going to be Peyton like the rest of his career!

Kap is average without Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham but when they return the 49ers of the playoffs last year will be that 49er team again this year come January again —-
Flacco, Eli and Roethlisbeger are all struggling without their former teammates

As I see, the only thing that would hold Foles back is management indecision.

Let’s remember that Vick was brought in by Lurie-Roseman, not Andy Reid.

If the Eagles insist on getting a so-called ‘read only’ QB to ‘fit Kelly’s system’, then ship Foles to some place he can flourish.

A certain rather heavy set coach in KC might be interested.

Haha, big, did you get a testosterone shot today, few extra reps down at pussy fitness, I mean planet fitness, it’s all good though, let’s hope foles continues to develop because it solves a huge problem, if Lurie is to be believed last week he issued a direct challenge to foles to solve this quagmire and the young man answered the bell, very impressive indeed

See Jake I respect the fact that you would be here whether Foles played good or bad unlike some of these other front running so called fans of the team who are only happy when certain players play well.

Word out in Oakland is that Jeff Lurie paid off some Raiders Executive to have their Secondary wear Sneakers instead of Cleats, Hence, all their tumbling, slipping, falling down etc, etc… Lurie’s Wife was seen on Video handing a Black Breifcase over to Raiders Executive at a bay Area Chinese Restaurant on Friday Evening..
Commisioner Roger Goodell says he doesn’t have time to Investigae due to the Miami Dolphins Fiasco with Martin/Icognito and the 2 NFL Coach’s (Fox/Kubiak) going down this Weekend with Heart Issues and stated that Record and Game Stands and that he has filed and sealed the issue away.

Spare me!! The biggest game this year was against our hated rival…the Dallas Cowboys. For us fans its the smack talk game with hated, dispicable Cowboy fans in Philly….the game for the division lead..Foles embarrassed the fans and was the sole reason for the loss~! Now we watch Foles play a good game where he could sit comfortably in the pocket..no pressure…where cornerbacks where constantly falling and receivers where WIDE open…and now the Vick haters want to annoint him the starter.
Well…why hasn’t Chip Kelly come out and say…”Foles is my starter”
There is a good reason for that!!
