Chip Kelly Has To Trust His Team During The Bye Week

ChipKelly1The Eagles are sitting in a great position right now at 6-5 and enjoying their bye week.  Starting quarterback Nick Foles leads the league in passing and LeSean McCoy leads the league in rushing.  The biggest concern I have concerns this young team losing their edge during the week off with everybody patting them on the back.  In all likelihood, they’re somewhere right now listening to somebody tell them how great of s season they’re having and it’s the worst thing for young players.

Even though they’re in a great position, the Birds haven’t done anything yet.  It’s no time to be celebrating and they should be getting in some workouts during their time off or they’ll come back to Philadelphia eager to continue the season, but having lost that intangible of being a hungry football team.  All it takes is a few days off and you can lose more mentally than physically.

Most of the team has left town, so Chip Kelly has no idea what these guys are doing from this past Tuesday night to next Monday morning when they must be back.  Are they drinking a lot and getting smashed every night?  Are they’ getting their sleep?  Are they lifting any weights or doing any running?  Who knows?

There’s not much that Kelly can do other than hope that what he has drilled into this team will influence to take care of their bodies during the time off.

They should be able to finish strong, but that’s going to require a hungry attitude down the stretch.  We will be able to decipher whether they lost anything during the week off when they battle the Arizona Cardinals new week.

Bruce Arians loves to throw the football down the field. I hope this defense can duplicate the Washington performance and continue to generate some sacks. Barwin had a sack fumble and Trent Cole 2 sacks vs RG3

These are highly paid Professional Athletes, yes they can all use a couple of days of downtime, spend some quality time with their Families,Friends, etc,etc.. What I like about the make up of this Team is that a lot of these new Players (Veterans) that they brought in are trying to make names for themselves and establish themselves as Core Players (Cary Williams, Connor Barwin, B Fletcher, R Carmichael) and then many of the Young Players like Cedric Thornton, Bennie Logan, Boynkin, N Goode, N Allen, R Coopper, J Maehl, B Smith again are trying to establish themselves as significant contributors to the Team and then you have Veterans who are highly conmpensated like Herremans,Ceelk,Avant, T Cole, Graham, etc who are playing for their Future Status and keeping their nice Contracts with the Team knowing the Eagles have some Salary Cap issues for 2014..
A good Blend of Eagle Veterans who know how disappointing the last coupld of seasons have been, with some new Veteran Players added trying to establish themselves with the Team and then of course, many Young Players trying to get more playing time, and wanting to contribute .. so a good mix all around …

I get the feeling that they would all hold each other accountable for doing something stupid.

As much as I agree with your premise,I feel a different, pulse. The defense has stepped up of late ,albeit ,when issues of bending but not breaking have been addressed they’ve done an admirable job.I think the defense sets the tone and these hungry dogs are flying around having fun…The stability at all the positions including the always sexy QB has settled in ,and the team recently rose from the abyss ,only weeks ago..Nick Foles shares the ball and spreads it so offensively vibes are good…I think any celebration at week 11 is a tad presumptions….it’s a new regime ,as coach has shown he too has resilience ,I like a team peaking as the leaves fall,I like having both offensive weapons ranked at the top in Foles and. shady …boys will be boys but men win championships ..this team has a few good men …you just can’t handle the truth…you recently hopped on the foles bandwagon..welcome ,stop the worrying ,he’s driving and as you yourself said ,he has the keys to the caddy..so sit back G ,watch an inspired dee and let st nick guide the sleigh …presents too come …we best not sleep on AZ …they’re a true litmus ,with the foes ahead ,I don’t sense any napping by these birds ..

Haha gcobb, you remind me of certain players of the past eagles past, of my playing days

I nearly missed curfew when a bunch of us decided to hit the clubs on a Friday before a pivotal road game

The players positioned dummies in their beds , with the pillows propped, so when coaches checked at midnight they would think all were accounted for

I initially said I was going out to get a piece of ass, but balked, went back to my hotel room, made curfew

Those who didn’t all got caught, were benched for the game

I set records the following day, what a memory

This current eagles team is not like my teammates or like the teammates you are talking about, it starts at the top, with nick foles

The eagles will be ready
