Notes From The Sixers’ 126-125 Win Over Orlando

mcwpistonsThe Philadelphia 76ers snapped their losing streak on Tuesday night, taking down the Orlando Magic 126-125 in double overtime. Their record improves to 7-12.

  • Michael Carter-Williams led the way for the Sixers tonight with a triple-double. MCW had 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. He shot a tidy 11-19 from the floor.
  • Thaddeus Young and Evan Turner each also surpassed the 20-point mark. Young had 25, while Turner added 24. Thad also supplied 12 rebounds.
  • Turner did have a rough night taking care of the ball, turning it over eight times.
  • Hollis Thompson got another start at shooting guard, and scored 10 points on 4-5 shooting.
  • James Anderson led the Sixers off of the bench with 19 points.
  • Tony Wroten continued to struggle, scoring just two points in 13 minutes off of the bench.
  • The Sixers didn’t have to contend with Nik Vucevic, who missed the game with an ankle sprain. Vucevic had an incredible game against the Sixers last week, with more than 20 points and 15 rebounds.
  • Orlando did get some incredible performances from Aaron Afflalo, Victor Oladipo, and Glen Davis. Afflalo led the team with 43 points, while Davis scored 33 of his own. Oladipo matched Carter-Williams with a triple-double, scoring 26 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Final Thoughts

A pretty wild game with a lot of great individual performances.

The Sixers keep allowing marginal players to have career-nights against them.

Last Sunday it was Andre Drummond, who dominated for 31 points and 19 rebounds. Tonight it was Afflalo scoring 43, Davis scoring 33, and the rookie Oladipo with a triple-double.

As hard as the Sixers have fought this year, the numbers that they’ve allowed some of these players to put up against them is truly staggering.

drummond, vucevic, and hibbert all dominated the Sixers this year. I wonder if Nerlens can do anything about that or Moultrie?
The game was entertaining but both lanes were open for business. Not much basket protection last night.
Turner for sale, a 20 point small forward for sale, Naismith award winner for sale

I agree E0S, time to trade “the kid et” he just doesn’t fit in with what coach brown wants in his players moving forward. One thing he wants is no turnovers. ET’s turnovers have increased more and more each year he has been in the league and as his playing time increased. 10′-11′ 1.0, 11′-12′ 1.6, 12′-13′ 2.3, and 13′-14′ 3.8. Evan is averaging nearly 4 turnovers a game and this is contributing to the Sixers having the 2nd worse turnover average in the entire league with 18.1 per game. Hes no rookie, 4 turns a game? He dribbles into trouble too much, his court vision isn’t good. He has a one track mind, “let me get mine” or “how are my stats” its all about Evan. Time to part ways with him. Like I said before, both him and Thad are almost a lock to be traded. Hawes I would hold on to. A 7 footer that can shoot the three is rare. He may be a good compliment to Nerlins Noel in the near future after the kid heals up..

would the Sixers trade Turner for their own first round pick back ( from 2012 draft used for Arnette Moultrie) plus a matching salary

eagles0SB I ll have to look into that, im not sure if they can do that, if they can by all means do it. But they may trade for ET. Very possible, it would allow the heat to start all 3 with chalmers coming off the bench. ET needs a team like that where he doesn’t have to be “the guy”

Of course, these are my own made-up Rumor’s, but I do believe a Trade of ET to the Heat could happen and would actually be a good landing spot for him..

The Sixers could trade Hawes and Turner to the Thunder for Perkins, Lamb and their 1st round pick. Im not sure that the Thunder would want to give up Lamb after they’ve spent so much time and energy coaching him up and helping him improve is game. But that would benefit both teams and the numbers match up. This trade is realistic and could happen..
