Notes From The Sixers’ 130-110 Loss To Milwaukee

thad3The Philadelphia 76ers lost their 11th straight game on Monday night, falling to the Bucks 130-110. Their record drops to 15-42.

  • It was an ugly, brutal beatdown for Brett Brown’s crew on Monday night complete with all kinds of defensive breakdowns and offensive failures.
  • The Sixers were decimated by the Bucks in the second quarter. Milwaukee outscored them 43-16. They allowed the lowly Bucks to score at least 30 points in each of the first three quarters.
  • Milwaukee shot a ridiculous 60% from three-point range, dropping 12 of their 20 attempts.
  • The Buck also killed the Sixers on the glass, outrebounding them 47-28, including 20 offensive rebounds.
  • Michael Carter-Williams scored 20 points on an efficient 7-11 shooting performance.
  • Thaddeus Young turned in another strong individual effort with 28 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and six steals.
  • Tony Wroten joined the starting lineup, and scored 19 points to go with five assists.
  • Arnett Moultrie made his second straight start, and scored just six points with eight rebounds.
  • Henry Sims, Eric Maynor, and Byron Mullens all made their Sixer debuts tonight.
  • Sims pulled down five rebounds, and scored five points.
  • Maynor went 0-5 from the floor, and managed two assists.
  • Mullens scored nine points on six shots.

Final Thoughts

This may have been the most embarrassing loss the Sixers have had to date.

They were ran out of their own gym by halftime, giving up almost 80 points to the 10-win Milwaukee Bucks.

This wasn’t the Miami Heat or Oklahoma City Thunder that handed the Sixers their beating tonight, it was the lowly Milwaukee Bucks, the only team with a worse record in the league.

After tonight’s loss, its fair to question whether or not the Sixers could possibly go the rest of the season without another victory.

What a legit tank job that was implemented tonight by the Sixers haha wow.. Losing to the worst team in the nba by 30 points sheesh.. They want not only the worst record in the league but also the tie breaker.. This was a very important loss for the Sixers…

Expect them to aim for that #1 pick and as many ping pong balls they can get. As mentioned Denny, they may not win another game this season..

****JH Trade Scenario****

A team that could be a trade partner with the Sixers come draft night is a team that is 0-2 since he returned to the lineup.. That team being the OKC Thunder and that player being Russell Westbrook…

Noone would expect a move like this being that OKC made it to the finals 2 years ago/playoffs consecutive years and they both avg over 20 a game and are superstars in their own right. But what must be noted is that RW wants to be the man, as in the go to guy. Granted, he can blow by any defender in the nba, hes lightning quick and can flat out ball. But when you have a guy like KD who is maybe the 2nd best player in the NBA on your team, you don’t try to be the man you try to set him up and then get yours. RW doesn’t believe in that formula..

Therefore the OKC Thunder will find a way to lose in the playoffs led by the most shot attempts of the team RW and then OKC will know that both RW and KD cannot play together.. And in a shocker, OKC may trade Russell Westbrook on draft night.. It will more than likely involve 1st round picks/players etc.. But he could very well be in a Sixers uni come next season..

Hes not really a pg at 6’3 6’4 200, hes more of a scorer and that’s his mentality. We need a scorer. We haven’t had a “killer” since Allen Iverson. I make that trade if its with our second 1st rounder and Thad and maybe some 2nds (more or less give or take). This is a very realistic trade that could go down on draft night only if OKC plummets in the playoffs though and starting 0-2 with RW back from injury when KD went on a tear and had that team looking formidable, may be just the beginning signs of this trade taking place down the road…

at half time a Comcast reporter asked HC Brett Brown what does he have to do differently defensively–
He snapped at her and said, ” We can start by playing defense, because we never even tried.” He is losing it, he called his team an embarrassment. The stress of losing 11 straight and being the laughing stock of all professional sports is wearing on him.

on the court fight in the second quarter between Byron Mullens and Tony Wroten in the second quarter. Tony Wroten drove to the basket and while in the air underhand tossed a pass to Mullens who dropped the ball out of bounds. Wroten picked up the ball slammed it in frustration because he lost an assist. Mullens not wanted to be disrespected wouldn’t leave the court on a substitution until Wroten was fully aware he is not disrespecting him in front of the crowd like that. LOL — Tony Wroten was hot and proceeded to play angry and missed 4 straight layups in a row ( 2 dunk misses) while the Bucks outscore the sixers 43 -16 in the second. Brett Brown looked like he was going to cry in a halftime interview will Molly Shannon. He is embarrassed, his words not mine.

It is the way to go. Get off your high horse Big. Again, let me explain to you guys, the only way to properly rebuild, in a flawed league like the NBA, under it’s current structure, you have to tank, completely strip it clean, get lucky in the draft, & get a stud, or 2, & build from there. It ain’t pretty, but that’s what it is. Coming from a former season ticket holder, I’m glad that they are FINALLY doing it right! You happy with being a middling, mediocre, black hole team every year, ranked in the middle- bottom of the league every year, where you barely miss the playoffs, getting picks in the late teens? You happy with patching roster spots every year, with retreads, has- beens, & players just looking to cash a check? If we don’t get better, & properly rebuild, we WILL NEVER, convince big FA’s to ever come here again. Get it! What did you expect from a team, with 1 legit Pro, & a good rookie? It’s going to be at least 2 more years, to turn this thing around. I know it’s disgusting, & frustrating, but it’s even more frustrating, & nauseating, having the teams we’ve had since Barkley left, & a few years with AI.

Not getting off my high horse DCar sorry this is unacceptable especially when it’s not a guarantee that any of these kids coming in will change the fortunes of this franchise. you may think this is the way to go and I wish I had a better option but this is ridiculous. My opinion and mine alone.

And why is this any Surprise
The 76ers have 2-3 NBA Quality Players (Thadd,MCW)
On their Roster for remainder of the Season
This is what everyone wanted right..
To get that high Lottery Pick..

I know this paulman, they are still charging NBA quality prices. As a long time Philly sports fan this is sickening to even read about, I will not watch this crap and when you allow a culture where it’s okay to lose that is a hard stench to get rid of.

As if 1 or 2 – 19 Year Old Kids are going to make a real Difference with the 76ers in the next 3 Years
They need to rebuild no doubt, but you can’t soley rely on 19-22 Year Players to do much.. There needs to be some Veteran SOlid Players mixed in which they have Thadd Young and that’s it… They Probably should have kept Hawes around and resigned him for the next 2-3 Seasons..

the sixers were giving up 110 pts a game with Hawes without him they gave up 123 pts and 130 pts. They desperately need bigger shot altering players. the sixers have to double every post pass to Thad Young’s man even the bottom dwellars. Thad knows he is a dead duck if his man catches that pass so he tries to steal everyone. He has good steal numbers but if his man catches a post pass it is over. Easy basket or wide open 3 because the sixers double help him every time. The need to find a defensive presence -Embiib, Asik any one but what they have.

Ersan Ilyasova went 7-9 fg for 20 points against thad last night.
Dirk Nowitski went 9-12 fg for 25 points against thad the game before that.

Big, don’t go, or watch, if the prices are too high, for this slop. It’s easy, I didn’t renew my ticket package, after last year. You can easily get rid of the culture of losing & stench, because the only guy that will return next year, is MCW. Thad is gone during the draft, & the rest of the afterbirth, will be gone. So does it really matter how they look, nor lose. I’m loving it personally. We are all but guaranteed 1-2 pick.

Yep and next year they’ll be picking top 5 again and the year after. All this cap money they will have will be spent overpaying guys because nobody will want to play in Philly that’s the culture I’m talking about and when all this talent their tanking for matures guess what they won’t be able to retain them. Oh boy what a colossal mess.

Big, & if they didn’t do this, players would still want to come here? Since when? It’s damn if you do, damn if you don’t? The NBA is a flawed, abortion of a league, & they accomplished stugots, with the last lockout, but get more $$$$ for the owners. Like it, or not, this is the only way to go, in this league. Especially having to correct the prior ineptness, & stupidity, of the this Black-hole organizations, last 31 years.

The worst part of all this is there is no guarantee that these players they want in the draft are coming out. If they don’t ( and some are saying they are leaning towards staying in college) we have to do this all over again next year. Coach Brown will kill himself.

Also reports from South Jersey are that 76ers Coach Brown has entered the “Ancora Physciartric Center” for Treatment,Observation and potential Long-Term Care … Unclear right now who wil lcoach the 76ers the remainder of the Season, some have BIlly Cunnighman coming out of Retirement to help the Franchise Out, others have Dr J or Bobby Jones taking the reins over for the rest of the year …

Not gonna happen TH, if they get the 1st ovr pick it’ll be between Embiid and Wiggins. More upside with both players over Parker in my opinion..

Making a comparison. Parker is CBarkley, Wiggins is MJordan. Both are really good, but one guy is just better and has more upside, that guy is Andrew Wiggins..

As for centers. Guys like Embiid come around every 10-15 years. He’s not only a offensive machine in the post with an array of moves reminiscent of Hakeem the Dream but too is a very good shot blocker and paint defender.. Whoever has the #1 pick and it may be the Sixers after this is all said and done, has a very tough decision to make…

In the end I’d take Wiggins and build around him. But I also really like Embiid and would be okay with them selecting him too, we’d then have the twin towers 2014 edition..

I hated and still hate this whole tanking thing. Its such a mess. I wrote why tanking is a bad idea a few months back on here. By doing this we’re not a lock to get the first overall pick. Check out what i wrote…

If you tank, the league will not grant you with the 1st overall pick or even a top 3. In the past 23 draft lotteries, only one team with the worst record ended up with the No. 1 overall pick (Orlando Magic). In those 23 years, six teams with the worst record dropped all the way to No. 4. Some eye opening stats for you unknowledgeable basketball guys who want them to lose out. Do your research, analytics plays a huge part… And anyway like I mentioned before, this draft lottery will totally be fooled around with by the powers that be because of all the great prospects coming out. This means $$$ for the NBA. They want major markets and teams of past success to return to greatness. Like the Sixers, Lakers(Kobe will be leaving soon they wanna draft his replacement) Pistons(How great it would be for this team and city whose in desperate for a winner again), Jazz, Celtics etc.. The league needs and wants these teams to be great again. You will see, this draft is the best since the Lebron,Wade,Bosh,Melo draft. This may be a bit premature but I have the feeling that this draft is deeper.. Remember these names.. of course you have the top 3, then you have more…
Dante Exum PG/SG, Aaron Gordon PF, Marcus Smart PG, Joel Embiid C, Andrew Harrison PG, Montrezl Harrell PF/C, Glenn Robinson SF, Wayne Selden SG, Willie Cauley-Stein C, Gary Harris SG, Dario Saric SF, Doug McDermott PF, Adreian Payne PF/C, Isaiah Austin C, Mitch McGary C, James Young SF, Jahii Carson PG, Spencer Dinwiddie SG, James McAdoo PF, T.J. Warren SF, P.J. Hairston SG, Perry Ellis F.. among others! Deep deep draft..

I don’t know why you feel this way maybe its why I do too, but as I mentioned in the comments, finishing with the worst record is not a top pick lock… And also, the league wants the Lakers and Celtics to return to greatness. They’ll somehow be in the mix in the top 3..

And the league doesn’t reward tanking teams.. Never have never will.. Only one team in the last 23 lottos with the worst record won the lotto, the magic.. The sixers better stay around in the 2nd worst record spot or even 3rd. Don’t be #1 in the league..

Jon Hart
Jon Hart
February 25, 2014 4:38 pm

I also like Dante Exum who is 6’6 and can play both guard positions, hes more of a scorer. If he slides out of the top 5 and were picking 6th, draft him. I doubt he slides though

Jon Hart
Jon Hart
February 25, 2014 7:38 pm

Don’t be the team that’s the worst in the league. Your almost a sure bet not to be rewarded with the # 1 pick. The Sixers need to stay where they are or drop to 3rd or 4th worst..

I have this weird feeling that both the Lakers and Celtics will be picking 1 and 2.. They want these teams to be on top again. This will generate a lot of $$$ for the league. The Bucks wont be one of these teams in my opinion.. Noone goes to Bucks games..
