Jets Would Be A Good Trade Partner For DeSean Jackson

deseanjackThe likelihood of #10 running out of the Eagles tunnel in 2014 is rapidly diminishing.  Rumors are swirling, and although the coach and general manager like to stay out of spotlight, they have done nothing to silence trading Desean Jackson.  Our most productive wide receiver in 2013, and sales tag is saying “third round.”

In comparison, two notable trades for big name wide receivers occurred with Randy Moss and Percy Harvin.  In 2007, the Patriots sent a 4th round draft pick to the Raiders for Moss.  In 2013, the Seahawks sent a 1st and 7th round pick in addition to the following seasons 3rd round pick to the Vikings.  Completely different returns the Raiders and Vikings received, so which is more likely for the Eagles to have happen if they unload D-Jax?

A tremendous weapon in Chip Kelly’s offense last season, it appears that his “character” is not fitting well with the new Eagles culture.  So what is the value for Desean?  I think the value is greatest with finding the best trade partner.

In my opinion, the New York Jets should be contacted if they have not already called the Eagles.

Geno Smith had a lot of success with Tavon Austin during his career at West Virginia.  The Jets have already signed Decker, a bigger body receiver and D-Jax would really help out the sophomore QB with his speed and playmaking ability.

With Marty running the offense in NY, this would be a perfect match, especially if Vick also ends up signing there.    What I like about this landing spot for Desean even more, is the possibility of landing a player like Quinton Coples.

A former first round selection, Coples is currently playing OLB in the Jets 3-4 defense, but I believe he is better suited for the defensive line.    He would bring a nice set of intangibles to what we already have in Cox, Thorton and Logan.  Vinnie Curry would be a name I would add to this potential deal.  Curry could add depth behind Wilkerson and Richardson for the Jets defensive line.

 Breaking down the trade:

The New York Jets send: DE/OLB Coples and their 3rd round pick and (Tampa Bay’s 4th) ** acquired in the Revis trade.

The Philadelphia Eagles send: WR Desean Jackson and DE Vinnie Curry.

SInce Revis was released, I don’t belive the Bucs owe that 3rd Round Pick to the Jets any longer…

The Deal with the Jets may work like this …

Eagles Trade D-Jax & Brandon Graham to the Jets for the 3rd Round Pick
in 2014 and QB Mark Sanchez (who agrees to re-do his Current Contract which would never Fly)

QB Mike Vick signs a 2 Year Deal with the Jets this Weekend
D-Jax reunited wit Vick help Set Jet Franchise Records as the Jets go 14-2 and into the Super Bowl in 2015…
Meanwhile back in Cheesesteakland, Mark Sanchez replaces Nick Foles who separates his Shoulder in Week #3 of the Preseason and leads the Eagles to a 2-14 Record and with the #1 Pick of the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles Select QB Marcus Mariotta of the University of Oregon…

Remember, You heard it here First…

The phillies just has a press conference with Amaro and Rollins with Amaro squashing all trade rumors that’s been going around, that’s how it’s done, the Eagles should take a page from them if its not true about trading DJak, if not don’t expect a trade till draft time.

Who cares if he gives in or not? If they want to send a message they would sit Rollins all season until he caves and requests a trade, its very easy to do to a player who wants to play, if you have a player already on the team you feel can play that position then it doesn’t matter how much he makes, Amaro did that cause that’s how its done, you let rumors go on long enough and they take on a life of their own as is the case with DJak, you squash a rumor in the very beginning before it disrupts the team, take note Howie n Chip.

I am telling you, Chip Kelly likes QB Sanchez..
If there’s no trade, the Jets are going to cut him anyways
as they would love to get rid of that Cap hit by Trading him..
Don’t you just love this time of year..
An under the radar trade Partner could be the Jaguars
As far as D-Jax goes, burry him to a weak opponent
In the AFC.. Jags have early Round Selections so a 2nd Rounder is almost like a late 1st Rounder

Zach Berman on DNL last night said he spoke to numerous NFL executives and GMs about the DJax situation and everyone of them laughed. He said they said Chip Kelly wont last 3 years if he thinks hes gonna get rid of every player who is a supposedto be a “Diva”. They told him most DBs and WR are divas and that’s what makes them tick. He was told you need more than “hes a me first” person as a reason to get rid of these mega rich superstars. For the Eagles to remove DJax and depend on Cooper, Maclin on a 1 year deal and a unproven rookie the executives said that would be ridiculous. He was told probowl players aren’t traded. The last time in the last 30 years probowl players were traded was Portis for Champ Bailey and Eric Dickerson for Cornelius Bennett, Greg Bell etc. and of course the Hershel trade.

Nice hyperbole……but anyway, this doesn’t have to do with his hand signals. 9NOT DIRECTLY ANYAY)

It has to do with his attitude on the team. With Quitting in the Dallas game. With Quitting in the Minny game. with quitting on the entire 2011 season. Basically ith quitting every time the going gets tough or falls behind by 14. With not getting along with his coaches. With being a me first player.

Do the gang symbols, tattoos and the rest of his well constructed image play a role in that? Probably.

But the bigger issue for Chip is the fact that Desean Jackson has quit on the field several times over the past few seasons, wheras the “hillybilly redneck” has not.

Tell Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson they need to be “divas” in order to “tick”.

DJax is a tremendous talent, he was even able to put up respectable stats with that awful turnover machine, gets scared and runs Mike Vick. If Djax can get open for a midget with no passing game instincts like Mike Vick he can play with anyone.

BTW Dag,

If “pro bowlers aren’t traded”, then explain the trades for:

Daryl Revis, Hugh Douglas, Terell Owens, Brett Favre, Marshall Faulk, Champ Baily, Ochocinco, Haynsworth, Reggie Bush, Boldin, Cutler, McNabb, Sheppard, Deangelo Hall (from the falcons – not now), Vilma….
just to name a few probowlers that have been traded in the past few years…..some old, some young, many moaning abut their contracts…….

or a Jordy Nelson,Anquan Boldin, Andre Johnson, Wes Welker, Damarius Thomas,AJ Green, Julio Jones, Greg Jennings, Torrey Smith, Kennan Allen,
Vincent Jackson,Marquis Colston, etc,etc….
Most NFL Players are True Professionals on and off the Field but as in any other group or segemt of our Society, there are those bad apples that try to spoil things and ruin it for everyone else .. Not much you can do about it but address it, eliminate the distractions and move forward..
I believe the Eagles are in the “eliminate disractions” Phase right now in regards of the D-Jax Situation…

Pretty much.

But Jax is getting traded. My Uncle called it awhile back…I disagreed…but on this he is (likely) right. The “me first” stuff is just..whatever…WR are Divas. Everyone knows this. The real thing is Kelly wants a Big WR for this offense (think a TO type) and they need a bargaining chip to get it. Jax is that chip.

Think the trade is a bad idea for a number of reasons. But anyone who gets Jax will def upgrade their offense instantly.

“”(That) doesn’t mean something can’t happen to where a team wants DeSean and that the Eagles—this is also Howie Roseman’s department. The personnel department,” Reese said. “To me it makes sense for the Eagles, that they at least convey to DeSean that he’s fine. That he doesn’t have to believe the rumors that are out there if for no other reason, you want to keep DeSean’s mind in the right place.””

I’m so glad Byrd is out new safety….oh wait…

Anywho…there was rumblings late last year that Smith (Carolina) was gonna be traded or released – there was a lot of “No ways” “Not gonna happens” “Doesn’t make sense”

Well we know how that played out.

Trade rumors don’t just pop up out of nowhere. Also all of this is easily fixed by an official statement from anyone in the Eagles org.

Hasn’t happened.

If he’s an Eagle come the start of the season – I won’t be surprised.
But if he’s not an Eagle by the start of the season – I REALLY won’t be surprised.

Of course we could focus on “The Call of Allentown” but I guess NESN, ESPN, NFL, Star Ledger and slew of other posts are wrong too.

Yeah. Like I said. Smoke. Fire. All that jazz.

They are paying Foles 750K for 2014, so a $1.5 Million Deal to Vick (league Minimum) was going to be the miost the Eagles would pay and Vick as a 11-12 Year Vet just can’t play for that and the Eagles simply can’t pay their Back-up 4-5 Times more than what they are paying their Starter,
