  • The victory was the 100th win of Hamels’ career.
  • The Phillies offense broke out for six runs in the fourth inning. Ryan Howard began the inning with a walk, and Marlon Byrd doubled to give Cody Asche runners at second and third with no outs. Asche came through with a two-run double, and Domonic Brown followed him with  two-run homer. Carlos Ruiz and Chase Utley rounded out the inning with a couple of RBI singles.
  • It was just Brown’s second homer of the season.
  • The Phillies struck for five more runs in the seventh inning. Carlos Ruiz was hit by a pitch, and Chase Utley and Ryan Howard each worked a walk to load the bases. Cody Asche singled home a run, and then Domonic Brown came through with a bases-clearing double. John Mayberry picked up a pinch-hit double to score Brown.
  • Cesar Hernandez hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.
  • Jake Diekman pitched a scoreless eighth.
  • Jonathan Papelbon got some work in with a clean ninth.

Final Thoughts

Nice of the Phillies to score a couple of runs.

The offense was certainly overdue for a scoring outburst, and this was a rare game in which just about everyone in the lineup was able to contribute something significant. Hopefully this win will carry over into the next few games and help the team build a little momentum.

Let’s go Phils, Win today and take the series 2 Games to 1
To have momentum for their Road Trip
Hamels was dialed in which was nice to see..
Bats coming alive and need consistency..
Asche is looking good at the Plate and seeing the ball real well,
If he & Briwn can get in a groove, it’s a whole different lineup..
