Notes From The Phillies’ 11-2 Loss To New York

San Diego Padres v Philadelphia PhilliesThe Philadelphia Phillies lost their third straight game on Monday night, falling to the Mets 11-2. Their record drops to 24-31.

  • Roberto Hernandez got the start, and pitched 5.1 innings, allowing five runs (four earned).
  • Hernandez allowed just one run through the first five frames, but fell apart in the sixth inning where he managed to record just one out and got charged with four runs.
  • The offense manufactured a run on an RBI-groundout from Ryan Howard in the sixth. The inning began with a Cesar Hernandez walk, and a Chase Utley double.
  • The team scored their only other run in the bottom of the eighth, when Ben Revere scored on a wild pitch. Revere and Hernandez reached to start the inning.
  • Reid Brignac played third once again. Brignac was thrown out at the plate in the third inning, trying to score on a single from Ben Revere.
  • There just wasn’t must offense to be found tonight. While Ben Revere, Cesar Hernandez, and Reid Brignac all reached base multiple times, the heart of the order struggled mightily.
  • Ryan Howard, Marlon Byrd, Carlos Ruiz, and Domonic Brown combined to go 1-14.
  • Hernandez played shortstop to give Jimmy Rollins a night off, and went 1-3 with a walk.
  • Mario Hollands took over for Hernandez in the sixth. He allowed an inherited run to score on a double before getting out of the inning. Hollands also pitched a scoreless seventh.
  • Cesar Jimenez pitched a clean eighth.
  • Jake Diekman came on to start the ninth, but allowed two runs on two hits and two walks before being lifted. He would be charged with four earned runs.
  • Phillippe Aumont entered for Diekman, and immediately walked the first batter he faced. Two batters later, Aumont allowed a three-run bomb to clear the bases before getting out of the inning. Aumont’s final line: 0.2 innings pitched, two runs allowed on two hits and a walk.

Final Thoughts

Let’s take a moment and reflect on how terrible this homestand has been for the Phillies.

They’ve finished this 11-game stretch with a wretched 4-7 record, bringing their overall record at home for the season to 12-19.

Along the way, they were shutout twice, no-hit by Josh Beckett, scored three runs or less six times, and dropped four of five to the lousy New York Mets.

Its a very sad state of affairs for baseball in Philadelphia.

Chase won’t be going anywhere
I do see the Texas Rangers as a possible landing spot for Ryan Howard to make up for the loss of Prince Fielder bat and power production
Phils will have to eat about $8-10 Million of Salary a Year for Rangers to trade for him.
I see Cliff Lee to the Yankees, Red Sox or back to Rangers
Papelbon to a Team with Closer Issues and again the Phils will have to eat some of his Salary to make that happen.. Maybe the Rockies,Dodgers,Tigers or Brewers

if pap keeps pitching like this we may be able to move him and not eat anything.

chase has to go just like last year teams would give their left nut for him if our clueless GM got a fuckin clue and realized this team cant do shit.

move chase to the dodgers for joc pederson.

this team blows, fans arent coming to games anymore its time to blow it the fuck up.

byrd, utley, papelbom and cole or lee have to go

mh, if they can get Pederson, & a lower promising prospect for Chase, I’d drive him to L.A. Hopefully Rollins gets the hits record before the deadline, & he changes his mind to leave. We got to blow it up, but does anybody in the free world trust Ruin 2morrow to make these trades? This is a hot, trash truck juice smelling mess!

i suggested they do this for chase last year and they resigned the fucking guy. unreal, reuben operates like a happy go lucky fan. fuck no i dont trust him making any deals for us.

regarding pederson i dont see how they cant get him, they wont let him touch the field in LA and Chase would be a HUGE upgrade to that team both offensively and defensively, i think that would make them the best team in baseball. shit we can throw in this loser dom brown to give them a power bat off the bench for him too… they gotta make trades to get younger and better but they wont…

Stick a fork in this franchise, for the foreseeable future, until wholesale changes are made, & an organizational enema takes place! This is the most lifeless, hapless, hopeless, talentless, bunch of overpaid mutts, that I’ve seen, in all my 45 years! They are embarrassing, & nauseating! They have become even worse than a horrible team, they have become irrelevant!

PHILLIES NEWS

THIS IS NOT A JOKE

Phillies signed RHP Jason Marquis to a minor league contract.
Marquis, 35, is currently making his way back from Tommy John surgery last August. He’ll report to extended spring training Wednesday and could serve as depth for the starting rotation if he continues to make progress in his rehab.
