Mike Adams Heads To DL; Ken Giles To Be Called Up

gilesThe Phillies received some bad news on Saturday when they learned that veteran reliever Mike Adams will need to go on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation.

Adams had already spent a month on the disabled list earlier in the season, but had pitched pretty well for the most part this season, posting a 2.12 ERA through 19 appearances.

Adams was reportedly very concerned about the status of his shoulder, and it sounds like he could be out awhile. Its bad news for the Phillies, who might have been able to trade the reliever away before the trade deadline since he had been pitching pretty well.

However, the good news is that the Phillies have finally decided to bring up top prospect Ken Giles to the major leagues.

Giles, who is capable of throwing a 100 mph fastball, had been pitching extremely well in the minor leagues, and his presence will at least give Phillies fans something interesting to watch out for the in the coming days.

Adams was a horrendous signing. He just can’t stay healthy which was his problem before they signed him. Doesn’t matter what his splits are if most of his time is on the DL.

Let’s see what Giles has.
