Notes From The Phillies’ 5-4 Win Over Tampa Bay

sloweyThe Philadelphia Phillies won their Grapefruit League match against the Rays on Sunday afternoon.

On The Mound

  • Kevin Slowey made his second start of the spring, and threw three scoreless innings. Slowey didn’t allow a hit or a walk. With Cliff Lee batting elbow problems once again, Slowey could be in the mix for a spot in the rotation. 
  • Joely Rodriguez pitched two scoreless innings, allowing one hit.
  • Elvis Arujao pitched a scoreless sixth, allowing one walk.
  • Cesar Jimenez had a rough outing, pitching 1.2 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits. He did manage to strikeout three.
  • Hector Neris pitched 1.1 innings, and allowed two unearned ones.

At The Plate

  • The Phillies scored five runs on 10 hits, highlighted by a three-run seventh inning. 
  • Ben Revere went 0-3 and picked up a sacrifice RBI.
  • Odubel Herrera batted second and played second base, going 0-4 with an RBI.
  • Domonic Brown went 1-2 with a walk.
  • Cody Asche went 1-2 with a double.
  • Tommy Joseph went 0-3, leaving three men on base.
  • Freddy Galvis hit out of the bottom of the order going 2-3 with an RBI.
  • Brian Bogusevic entered the game as a pinch-hitter, going 2-2 with an RBI.
