Notes From The Phillies’ 3-2 Win Over Pittsburgh

On The Mound

  • Cole Hamels pitched three innings, and allowed both of the Pittsburgh runs to score. Hamels gave up two hits and two walks, and also allowed a homer. 
  • Jonathan Papelbon pitched a clean third inning.
  • Lefty Andy Oliver pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just one walk and striking out two.
  • Elvis Arujao pitched a scoreless seventh.
  • Mario Hollands gave up one hit in a scoreless eighth. Hollands has now put together two straight scoreless appearances after allowing four runs in his debut.
  • Jeanmar Gomez pitched a scoreless ninth to get the save.

At The Plate

  • The Phillies generated three runs on six hits. 
  • Ben Revere singed, walked, and scored a run.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 1-3 with an RBI. Hernandez had the team’s lone extra-base hit with a double.
  • Grady Sizemore went 0-3, but drove in a run with a sacrifice.
  • Ryan Howard went 0-3 with a strikeout, dropping his average to .211.
  • Jeff Francoeur went 1-3 with an RBI.
  • Domonic Brown went 0-3.
  • Tommy Joseph went 1-2 and scored a run.
  • Maikel Franco went 1-3.
