There are a number of reports regarding Eagles inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks and nickelback Brandon Boykin being on the trading block. They are both undersized and likely to be playing for another NFL team in the 2015 season.
“Big people beat up little people”, said Chip Kelly after becoming the Eagles head coach. The Eagles have a specific height, weight and speed profile for each position on their football team. They want the players at each position to have certain leg lengths and arm lengths. They want them to be built in a very specific way at each position.
Both of these guys are good players, but they don’t fit the plan of the Birds front office. The Eagles front office is reportedly trying to get a second round pick for Kendricks, but they haven’t been able to find any takers as of yet. Kendricks, who is an outstanding young linebacker, is on the block simply because he stands only 5’11”.
Kelly and Player Personnel Director Ed Marynowitz have made it clear that they want their players to fit a certain height, weight and speed profile. They let it slide in the case of Brandon Graham, but they don’t want to make a habit of not sticking to their position profiles.
The Birds want big inside linebackers, who stand at least 6’2″ or 6″3″ and weigh at least 240 pounds. Kendricks is a speed and quickness linebacker rather than a big pounder.
Boykin has been the nickel back for the two years Kelly has been the head coach and hasn’t been given a chance to start at the outside cornerback spot because he’s not tall enough. They want corners who are at least 6 foot with long arms, so they can get their hands on wide receivers to jam them before they come off the line of scrimmage.
Kelly and Marynowitz have both talked about the depth in this draft at the wide receiver position.
Don’t be surprised if both of them are traded before the weekend is over.

Has some of his moves not worked? Yes. Not replacing DJax was a mistake. Rewarding Cooper was a mistake. Not having a legitimate backup RB to McCoy was a mistake. The dum dum twins at CB hurt.

He took care of the ball in college and one year in the pros. Last year before he had a season ending injury. Overall he has 49 (38 ints, 11 fumbles lost) turnovers in 49 career starts.
But wait you have an excuse for that right. System, scheme… blah blah blah. I care about results. If Chip’s system is good enough to take this average qb and make him into something great, then we should be happy with another average quarterback instead of someone who is damaged goods.
