What They’re Saying About The Eagles

Bradford&Murray1I thought the Eagles and the Ravens had some good battles yesterday in their first day practicing  with each other at the Nova Care Complex.  It was good clean aggressive football, but no fights, just football battles.

Mark Eckel of NJ.com, talks about how this idea for the Eagles and the Ravens to practice against each other came about.

Former Eagles Special Teams Coach and current Baltimore Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh talked about how he had some talks with his brother, Jim, about then Oregon head coach Chip Kelly.

“My brother really likes Chip,” Harbaugh said of his his brother Jim, who coached at Stanford against Kelly in the Pac 12 before moving on to the San Francisco 49ers and is now back in college at Michigan.

“He knew him before he came into the league obviously. I had some conversations with Jim about him.”

Eckel also wrote about how it was a mistake for the Eagles to let Harbaugh leave here, head down I-95 and lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl title.

“It was cool to come back here,” Harbaugh said after Wednesday’s practice. “You walk through those gates, all through the facility, pass the weight room, walk onto the field, see the bushes. The bushes are all grown up now. I remember people used to sit in the trees and watch practice. Do they still do that?”

Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com writes about Harbaugh’s admiration for Jim Johnson, whom he calls the best defensive coordinator ever.  The Ravens coach goes on to tell us he believes Johnson should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“But nothing more so than Jim Johnson, nothing more so than the guy I would consider the greatest coach — the greatest defensive coach — in the history of football.

“We’re running half his schemes out here right now. He was a great man and a great mentor and a great teacher. Hi to [his widow] Vicky, hi to their family. That’s probably the best part of it.”

Johnson, inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame in 2011, left an unparalleled legacy in Philly.

Brandon Lee Gorton of BleedingGreenNation.com gives us 30 observations of what happened at practice yesterday.

Bradford has looked especially sharp in red zone practice drills. He fired a strike to Riley Cooper before hitting Brent Celek for two touchdowns on back to back plays. His quick release and laser accuracy really come in handy here. Pairing Bradford with a strong red zone running back like DeMarco Murray should really increase Philadelphia’s efficiency in scoring position this year.

Members of the Eagles secondary could see the value in having a practice against another team.  CSNPhilly.com’s Aaron Mazer shared their comments with us.

“You get to see these guys every day,” Eagles cornerback Byron Maxwell said. “You get to know their body language and their tendencies and everything, so it’s good to come out here in a competitive environment and go against somebody else. Their body movement, how they release, the quarterback — everything’s different.”

Eagles running back DeMarco Murray hasn’t been turned loose by Chip Kelly, but the running back is hopeful the head coach will open the door for him this weekend.  Zach Berman of Philly.com shares the details with us.

“It’s obviously Chip’s decision what he wants to do,” Murray said. “But I feel good and definitely open to playing.”

It was time to move on from Trent Cole whose Salary far outweighed his Production… It happens every Year to every Team where you have to get rid of Higher Salaried Players who are not full time, every down, Productive Players, though Trent Cole played pretty well last Season but his Contract was Crazy and kicked into major $$$ .. Its the Business of Football..

About the only miss I had this Off-Season Roster Moves was Brandon Graham who I did not think had a 1% Chance of Resigning with the Eagles..
I had him as a goner and obviously was way wrong for they signed him to pretty good Deal..

Next Off-Season, I expect M Kendricks, D Sproles & R Cooper to be goners

you had billy davis being fired for one. and of course you predict everything. also, everyone knew herremans, fletcher and williams were gone- you did not predict foles gone, nor shady, nor maclin… so shut up, you also predicted donahue as chips right hand man.
the writing is on the wall for the three you mention above…lets see they trade for and then draft an ILB, sproles is well past 30 and they’ve drafted like 3 WR in the first 3 rounds over the last two years… brilliant deduction sherlock…you miss more than you hit.

Had T Cole, T Herremans, J Casey, C Williams all released who were all still Under Contract .. had Maclin walking for a better deal to the Chiefs and reunited back with AR so I get double bonus points..
Had McCoy, as part of Big 3,that Chip would get rid of once he was hired
(Which included Vick & D-Jax)
I did predict ILB D Ryan’s to be Released also which I was wrong about
and I did not think the Eagles would Re-Sign Brandon Graham
I did state Eagles would Re-Sign QB Sanchez so all in all a pretty good off-season of calls player personnel wise that were pretty close to what Chip Kelly actually did..

The Lions Pass Rush was in his RG3 Face the entire time he was in there
8 Drop Backs, 2 Sacks 1 Fumble and Hit 3 other Times…
Redskins Top Pick at RT (B Scherff) was getting beat on almost every Drop back attempt that saw and has too slow of footwork to play OT in the NFL in my opinion and looks like heshould be a Guard at the NFL level..

Bills QB Tyrod Taylor looked pretty good vs the Browns
Browns QB J Manziel also had some nice throws

And Colt McCoy & Kirk Vousins come inand don’t get Sacked the rest of game…
Redskins are abetterTeam without RG3 and everyone in the Organization knows it but Owner Dan Snyder…
I believe that RG3 is Traded or Released by the Redskins before the Season
It would e better for the Redskins and for RG3 to start over for another Team..
I believe he will end up as a Houston Texan due to his Father working behind the scenes
I Could see Jadaveon Clowney straight up for RG3 Deal as both Players & Teams want to move on!!!

I can almost bet 1 of those 4 wins will come against the Eagles, they always find ways to lose to the Redskins no matter how sorry the Redskins are. What should be easy yearly sweeps against these clowns the Eagles make the Redskins matchup look way more difficult than it needs to be.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Jordan Matthews was “the best player on the field” at this week’s Ravens-Eagles joint practices.
Keep in mind Matthews was facing a revamped Ravens secondary that got back shutdown corner Jimmy Smith from last year’s foot injury, and added stingy slot CB Kyle Arrington in free agency. This news is also coming from Baltimore; not Philadelphia. Ravens beat reporter Jeff Zriebec writes, “Ravens defensive backs will be seeing (Matthews) in their sleep over the next couple of days.” Zriebec added, “Nobody on the Ravens has been able to match up,” and “if Matthews stays healthy, I’d be shocked if he didn’t have a big year.”

Breeze seriously go back and watch the difference between rg3 and colt mccoy, the oline does not trust rg3 and watch how colt goes through his progressions compared to rg3. ….for real rg3 just doesnt need to be a pocket qb he is not ready, just leave him in pistol

Hac I watched that game and it was not all on the line, rg3 thinks way too much in the pocket, the only reason he is starting is because of dan synder, I dont understand why kool would think its not his fault, so you are telling me for rg3 to make good throws he haz to have a clean pocket everytime, sry not in the nfl, it tells me rright away he doesnt understand qb play at all
