Sam Bradford Loses Duel With Carson Palmer

SamBradfordvsCards1Last night Sam Bradford threw for more yardage that Carson Palmer, 361 yards to 274 yards, but the two quarterbacks or should I say the two passing attacks aren’t in the same league.  Palmer completed 20 of 32 passes with one touchdown and no interceptions.  He had an outstanding game despite his receivers John Brown and Mike Floyd dropping at least six, maybe seven or eight passes and two touchdowns.

Bradford completed 28 of 41 passes with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Unfortunately, one of the picks was taken back for a touchdown. I will give him credit for taking some thunderous hits from the Cardinals defense, yet he got up and continued to stand in there and throw the football.

Of course, Arizona won the game going away by a score of 40-17.  The Cardinals have the highest scoring offense in the NFL and the Eagles in the bottom half.  Palmer is without a doubt one of the top three MVP candidates in the NFL, while Bradford has struggled for much of year, but he has shown improvement of late.

Palmer, a former number one pick is leading a 12-2 team to the playoffs, while Bradford a former number pick in the draft is trying to get a 6-8 Eagles team in the post-season as well.  Palmer has thrown 33 touchdown passes and 9 interceptions for a quarterback rating of 106.7, which is number two in the league.  Bradford has thrown for a total of 16 touchdowns with 13 interceptions for a quarterback rating 83.8, which is in the middle of the pack.

Palmer, who has endured two ACL tears is a franchise quarterback, but our question concerns Bradford.  Is he a franchise quarterback or maybe more accurately, will he ever be a franchise quarterback?

The big question that will be asked before and after the last two games of the Eagles season is what should the Birds do with Bradford.  Should they franchise him and give him $19 million dollars for a year?  Should they agree to pay him $20 million dollars for five years?

Do you think Bradford wants to stay here and play in Chip Kelly’s offense that features the read option?  Does he think he’s the right fit for Kelly’s offense?   Does he want to play for a coach who lets him audible at the line of scrimmage and contribute to the weekly game plan?

Would he rather be in Houston in a pro style offense and throwing to DeAndre Hopkins, one of the top wide receivers in the NFL with top level defense led by J.J. Watt?

It won’t matter what Chip Kelly thinks, Sam Bradford is going to bolt for friendlier pastures and take the Starters Role for another Team..
He’s not a Northeast Guy, Plain & Simple…
He’ll get calls from the Texans, Broncos, Browns, and possibly the Saints & Cowboys as both those Teams have to address old age/Injuries at QB

With QB’s like RG3 , Johnny Football, Geno Smith, Brock Osweiler, EJ Manuel, and possibly some Veterans like D Brees, P Manning, , there will be a lot of Activity in the QB Market early this Off-Season for Teams in need

Sam is obviously not a gun slinger! The eagles offense used to be dynamic and explosive… it is now boring, repetitive. Bradford is not a special guy– not even a second tier QB bottom 3rd…

On the real Sam looked awesome early. I was into it then he took a big shot and turned into Sam again. Fumbling and throwing picks. I was happy he showed some heart and was throwing down field quite a bit rather than his normal check down shit but the fact is he isn’t good enough to win it all or games by himself. And what’s worse is chip gonna bring him back. Just a sucky position. Hopefully we invest in o line this year.

If “Throw a 1 yard pass on every 3rd and 5” is “good”….then Ya….Bradford is best in the League!

“trending upwards!”

Here’s a proposal. Perhaps Eagles could ask the Giants and Skins to play 10 men on D for the next 2 games. That might even things up.

Bradford was able to throw more than 10 yrds when there were only 10 guys out there, and Kiko doesn’t exist on the Eagles side of the ball….so I think its fair.

Give the Eagles a chance to compete…..maybe…….

Bradford showed heart last night but let’s face it, the GM has destroyed this team, they are a soft non tackling team right now. Maxwell and Alonso are embarrassing and why is Taylor Hart playing did you see him unblocked on Johnson’s long TD run just fall down? I hate Chip Kelly.

Lion you have been on that since day 1…. from the ‘what could have been’ you just wonder if they had hired arians and added to that roster of playmakers. I’m not sure who the qb would have been but the LLCB’s method is not working

Just look at the difference in the rosters from the game last year the Eagles should’ve won and last night, unbelievable.

My Sources are hearing about a 3 Way Trade involving the Eagles, Redskins and Texans and Players who have all disappointed with their Current Teams

Texans send DE Jadeveon Clowney to the Redskins
Redskins Send QB RGIII to the Eagles
Eagles Send RB D Murray and their Top Pick from the 3rd Round (from Detroit) to the Texans

Eagles open up 2016 Camp with QB’s RGIII, Mark Sanchez and Thad Lewis

Sam Bradford Signs a 4 Year $84 Million Deal with the Houston Texans
in Free-Agency

That’s the issue HAC. There was no reason to offload all those skilled players at one time unless you had a viable replacement for them and no reason to trade a cheap QB who had questions as to whether he could be a franchise QB for another, more expensive QB + a high draft pick who has questions about whether he can be a franchise QB or not. Especially when they both could have been moved on from after this season. To me it was a lateral move at QB and with getting rid of all your skill players and replacing them with overpriced slop, rookies or practice squad players, no QB could be successful on this current team. Your right, should have kept what they had and build onto what was already a 10 win team. Even though I disagreed with the Kelly hire, I’ve tried to give him the benefit of the doubt throughout the process, but I no longer see this getting fixed. Both sides of the ball are woefully suspect.

Everz, I too was not happy with the Kelly hire, the Bradford trade etc but in both cases I really made an effort to get on board, see what this guy could do. But I think its obvious that Kelly is completely out of his element both as a GM and coach. Many of the coaches hired the same year he was are not doing well- McCoy is in trouble, several have already been fired and Bradley isn’t doing anything…the only ones that seem to be doing well are Ariens and big red…

Sitting here with not much to do so I went through the QB play of every team and the eagles are in trouble. The eagles have thrown 20 TD’s and 17 picks. Only Dallas 13/19 (Weeden, Cassel), Ravens 19/19 (some back up), Minn. 13/8 (they go through AP), ATL 18/16, Denver 17/21 (PM can’t throw five yards and was 9/17) and St. L 10/11 even compare to those numbers.
Everyone says Bradford is A. Smith… I WISH!!!! smith 16/4– It gets better Cleveland– the land of QB HELL… wait for it 20/9, How bout Houston (revolving door of has beens and never was) 26/4

In order to Win with the QB Play the Eagles have gotten the last 2 Seasons then they needed to be a Damn Good Defense and have the Ability to Run the Ball which the Eagles can’t do neither very well… So now fast forward to late 2016 Season and the Eagles Rush Defense is getting gashed week in and week out while the Eagles Rushing Offense has no True #1 RB and has an aging RB Corps with injury issues and now a unhappy camper and trouble brewing in the locker room with DeMarco Murray..

Bull!

Sam Bradford’s turnovers in the Arizona game was meaningless.

The Defense was humiliated…disgusting

We gave up Shady McCoy for a linebacker who doesn’t like contact

I’m sick of Alonzo…they cut his ass…

Bradford showed heart and fight…he took hits and was delivering the ball

His receivers suck…Bradford has no outside receivers, no running game, a weak offensive line…and he still threw for over 300 yards

He turnovers were inconsequential…Jason Peters got beat so quickly…even Bradford couldn’t get rid of the ball.

The answer to the Quarterback’s problem is to get better receivers…Bradford has the skill to play QB for this team…he needs a running game and receivers on the outside that can get open.

I am convinced that the outside receivers suck badly and Bradford throwing the ball to whoever gets the slightest bit of separation…none of the Eagles receivers are running wide open…they were shut down…Bradford throwing for over 300 yards is a miracle

The Eagles and Bradford just have too much of a Loser Mentality to become relevant anytime soon..
Look at these other Teams who were losing big this weeken
Eli Manning & Giants in their comeback vs the Panthers to make a Game out of it.. Drew Brees & NO Saints who made a4th Quarter Comeback vs the Lions
At least these Yeams QB’s willed their way back into their Games
Does anyone other thanKBever feel that Bradford & Eagles would ever make a1-2 Score out of thst Cardinal Game…
Eagles get down, they are Losing due to the lousy Coaching and lack of Lack of Leadership on both sides of the Ball including at QB with Sam Bradford..
His 300 Yards were Hollow, His Stats mean very little .. It’s about Scoring TD’s and he is not Good enough to do consistently damage

You are “convinced” the WRs suck because the QB never throws to them. You never see tham open on TV, and you make the assumption they are never open for 2 reasons:

1 – The QB never throws it to them so you assume (wrongly) that they aren’t open
2 – you listen too much to the idiot talking heads who continually say some version of “the receivers just aren’t getting open”

Here’s a newsflash kiddo, “The wr aren’t getting open…they just aren’t getting any separation” is #4 on the colour guy cue cards to say when a team is losing. Listen to a Boomer Eisiason game…guy says that line on every single sack or throwaway.

Its just a line they use.

Remember when I used to talk to you about the difference between variables and constants. You still haven’t seems to grasp the lesson….

Whenever we see the same thing over and over and over and over again, we have to ask, “what is changing, and what is staying the same”. Its usually the thing that is the same that is the problem.

In STL Bradford had one of the lowest Y/C and Y/A in the league. His passes were always short and had one of the lowest”distance traveled in the air” in the league. He rarely throws deep to his WRs.

In Philadelphia Bradford has one of the lowest Y/C and Y/A in the league in STL. His passes are always short and he has one of the lowest”distance traveled in the air” in the league. He rarely throws deep to his WRs.

When the same thing happens over and over ask….who or what is the constant???

Bradford is the shitty constant.

Ask yourself another question….you went on and ona dn on about that “beautiful” pass to Agholor, as if a QB throwing a 40 yrd pass to a WR that had 2 steps on a defender was some sort of magical event.

What is the more probably answer.

That this was the one, exact, and only time Agholor found himself open throughout the entire season (your premise – they NEVER get open) and Bradford just happened to hit the guy deep on the one and only miracle opportunity he had with a WR open.

OR

Wrs have been getting open as often as any other group and the guy who never threw to them got his first 5 years, is still not.

I’ll take option #2.

You’ll take fantasy world option 1 of course, because you always love the variable and never look at the constant, especially when its a constant you’ve hung your hat on.

koolbreeze

Fool!

This is the only ‘constant’…you are Vinniedafool with the same ridiculous contentions, same stupid ‘stats’ approach (except when it doesn’t favor your claims) and the same lack of understanding of the game

Same old Vinniedafool

“His passes were always short and had one of the lowest”distance traveled in the air” in the league. He rarely throws deep to his WRs.”

Fool!

The Eagles passing offense is based upon West Coast Pass game principles that always favored the short passing game…the emphasis is on Bradford making quick decisions, getting the ball out of his hands and having receivers get YAC!

So of course, Bradford ‘stats’ are going to reflect the Eagles passing philosophy which places emphasis on getting the ball out of the Quarterbacks hand…Bradford despite poor offensive line play hasn’t taken a lot of sacks
Bradford has shown repeatedly that he can throw the ball accurately deep…his first pass to Cooper in the Buffalo game was a perfect pass dropped by Cooper.

Anyone who watches the game and sees the film consistently see covered Eagles receivers. Agholor is running poor patterns, not creating separation, and being covered like a blanket…Their receivers just dont have the speed like Djax or even Maclin to get deep so Bradford…unlike Foles who would hold the ball waiting and waiting for receivers to get deep and taking a bunch of sacks…Bradford gets rid of it and gets positive yards for the offense

The bottom line is that the Eagles receiving corps are among the worst in the league. The film does not lie…The starting wideouts-Riley Cooper and Josh Huff suck. They could not start for any other team in the league.

The Quarterback play has improved, Bradford will be here and will play even better next year…it is incumbent on the Eagles to obtain better weapons and hope the Agholor’s play improves as a route runner, that he catches the ball better,
