The Philadelphia Phillies won the first game of their series against the Dodgers on Monday night 4-3. Their record improves to 59-91.

On The Mound

  • Nick Pivetta got the start, gave up two runs in the first, but settled down to pitch five scoreless to finish the night, striking out eight.
  • Kevin Siegrist and Victor Arano combined to get through the seventh.
  • Luis Garcia pitched a scoreless eighth.
  • Hector Neris picked up the save in the ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up four runs on four hits.
  • All four runs came off the bat of Aaron Altherr, who hit a grand slam.
  • Odubel Herrera went 0-4 at the top of the order.
  • Freddy Galvis went 2-4 with a couple of singles.
  • Nick Williams went 0-4 with three strikeouts.
  • Rhys Hoskins went 1-2 with a single and a walk.

stand up inside the park home run, first time I’ve ever seen that. then 2 more dingers by the Dodgers. ( all solo home runs) wiped out by a grand slam. Clayton was destroying the phils until Altherr connected.
