Michael Vick Says He Wants To Get Out Of Dodge

Vick warming up before the game Eagles back up quarterback Michael Vick made it plain yesterday on the Dan Patrick radio show.  He believes he’s still one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league and wants to be traded out of Philadelphia.

He wants to go somewhere else to start, so he can prove he still has the skills to lead a winner.

“I know I can play in this league,” Vick said. “I know I have a lot of games left in me.”

It seems from the way Vick was talking like there was some type of understanding by his camp and the Eagles that he would be dealt to another team during this off season.

“Me and my agent spoke briefly about 2 days ago [about the Eagles being willing to let him out of the final year of his contract],” Vick said. “He’s just trying to get an understanding on what we thought was the best-case scenario and how we should approach the situation in regards to being respectful. We thought that was important. We didn’t put a timetable on it but it should happen pretty soon. So, we’ll see.”

Vick preparing to throw Patrick asked Vick if he thought McNabb would be back with the Birds next year.  Vick wisely gave the safe answer, “It wouldn’t surprise me if he was back”.

Vick said he thought McNabb would be like Elway, who took more than a decade to win a Super Bowl, after the Broncos put together the best running game in the league with Terrell Davis.

I don’t think the Eagles know what they’re going to do with their quarterbacks, but I think it would make sense to keep Vick if they trade McNabb and make Kolb the starter.

Having an experienced quarterback like Vick as a backup would give them some security in case Kolb were to go down.
