Tony Hunt surfaces with the Giants

Remember former Philadelphia Eagles RB Tony Hunt? The Penn St. guy they took in the third round in 2007 and cut him after his second season? Yeah, that guy.

Hunt was out of football all of 2009, but it would seem that he may get another shot with the New York Giants – however long that shot might be. According to Giants.com, Hunt will be one of the 54 players at mini camp on Friday for the G-men.

I don’t really know that Hunt has the speed to compete at the NFL level, but he seems like a nice kid so it’s good to see him get another shot.

Wouldn’t surprise me if started looking like the 2nd coming of Brandon Jacobs up there. I think he would be fine as a North/South tailback…Not a fullback, not a scat back, just a straight up smash-mouth punisher. It will also be interesting if he has any success up there since the Eagles FO assessment was that Lorenzo Booker was the better back of the two.

I don’t think he will stick, but good luck to him. That 2007 draft was a good one for Da Birds. Kolb, Celek, and Bradley are all beasts! I hope the class of 2010 has that kind of production.

Interesting but I really think this guy is a true dud. Just my opinion.

The rumor on him was a guy who was kinda into the lifestyle of an NFL player, but not into the work part. There were questions about how much he loved football even back at PSU.

A typical Penn State RB…
In the last 30-40 years how many RB’s have actually had a good, productive carreer in the NFL outside of
Lydell Mitchell & Curtis Warner… not many …The most overrated College Program (besides Nortre Dame) in the history of the NCAA…”Happy Valley” should be renamed
“Below Production Results Valley”

Uh Paulman, ever hear of Franco Harris. He has 4 more Super Bowls than the Eagles.

Richcow, you hit the nail on the head. Besides, I think natural ability is more important than the college program. I mean, would Franco have been a different player if he attended Miami?

Larry Johnson would have been a superstar in this league if he stayed out of trouble… Tony Hunt wasnt utilized very well with the birds.. They drafted C Scott out of LSU, because they know they need that power back behind Shady.. Hunt was not a fullback and the birds knew it.. I hope he beats out A Bradshaw for a spot.. Either way, watch out for Ramses Barden the WR, could be another Plaxico in the making….
