Eagles sign Nate Allen

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that they have agreed to terms with second-round pick Nate Allen. According to the team’s official website, it’s a four-year deal.

This leaves Brandon Graham as the only remaining unsigned rookie for the Birds. One can argue that it was more important to get Allen signed first, because he’s already penciled in as a starter and has a lot to learn. He needs to know coverages and figure out where to be, or else big plays will be going on all over the place.

Allen is scheduled to be the starter right now, but he’ll be pushed by Quintin Demps and seventh-round pick Kurt Coleman. In other words, it’s Allen’s job to lose.

As for Graham, only one first-round pick (Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant) has signed, so it’s not like he’s being ridiculous. This one could take a while given the uncertainty of the CBA.

Good…Now get Graham squared away.Hell, even Jerry got his 1st rd pick signed. I might also add, you got marshall, dummerville, Jenkins and all the players that showed why they’re worth the money that they got, and their teams rewarded them for it. You got rid of McNabb (he got paid well before he left), gave the keys to kolb and paid him well because he’s suppose to be our saving grace, and you mean to tell me that we can’t take care of our best offensive weapon DJax? I’m not really one for guys holding out but this is ridiculous. “Pay the man you CHEAP BASTARDS”. You can say all you want about the CBA blah blah blah, but DJax is worth more than what they’re feedin him. Two pro bowl positions (with touchdowns I might add) and a hellified eagle player. If Desean held out, I wouldn’t be mad at him. These cheap bastards need to man up. Even though the T.O.(his crap) debacle was crazy and uncalled for, you have to man up and reward players what they’re worth. Pay Desean you “CHEAP TRICK BASTARDS”.

What do you care if Desean gets a lot of money or not much at all? Is he going to give you any? You can complain about whatever you would like, but that just seems like you are going out of your way to have something negative to say about the Eagles. Jackson has a contract, he wants a new one but has not been making a big deal out of it, why is it even an issue? It makes no difference to anybody who reads this site what a player recieves as compensation. I think it is just more evidence of the negative attitude that people direct to toward the Eagles, and it is simply unimaginative and generally, unfounded.

So what Dez Bryant is signed. He plays a different position and is the only 1st rounder signed. They need to see where the other 1st round defensive players come in at in order to make the best contract. Financially, it’s in the best interest of both sides to wait. In football terms, it’s in the best interest of both sides to get it done asap. But I understand. Graham doesn’t want to get underpaid and the Eagles don’t want to overpay him. We can all thank the CBA (or lack of) for situations like this.

Very well put silva. The times the Eagles have over paid for players outweighs the disputes anyway.
