Reid’s Story About Vick’s Late Arrival Sounds Fishy

I don’t know what happened yesterday with Michael Vick, but Andy Reid couldn’t make it as a politician because he doesn’t how to make up a good story that makes sense.  The nonsense about him telling Vick to arrive at 12:15, only 45 minutes before the game and keeping him in the locker room during the game, makes no sense at all.

I don’t know what happened, but I’ve never heard of a coach making an eligible player stay in the locker room during the game, especially a quarterback.  A quarterback is able to grasp a lot from hearing the conversations on the sidelines.

When Kevin Kolb came to the sidelines during the game, he and Marty Mornhinweg would discuss what worked and what didn’t work.  They talked about what coverages he was seeing and what ideas if any the quarterback might have.

The backup quarterback yesterday, Mike Kafka and Vick should have been standing right there listening to every word. All it took was one play and Vick would have had to go into the game.

Many times the quarterbacks on the sideline can see something or hear something that allows them to help the decision-making on the sidelines.  Keeping Vick in the locker room doesn’t sound like the truth.

I could understand Vick not going out there to workout before the game because throwing the ball too much might have been bad for his injury.  I could understand Reid not wanting Vick out there with the cameras rolling because the quarterback would have wanted to impress the other players.

If he went out there and got his adrenaline flowing, it could have gotten some of his teammates distracted because they might have expected him to play.

I’m not saying what Reid said was a lie, but it doesn’t sound like the truth.  Something stinks about this story.

It’s not going to take long for somebody to leak the details about what happens.  In this case, I’ll be more surprised if Reid is telling the truth in this case.  The story sounds too ridiculous.

We already had enough of a controversy with Kolb playing the way he did the last two weeks after Vick had been NFC Offensive Player of the Month during his starts.  It’s quite astounding to have two quarterbacks play so well in such a short period of time.

We will see if they keep it up.

I just want to win, and I’ve had my fill of big headed superstar qb’s. I can’t spend another 4 years with vick if this is the kind of crap he’s going to pull. Just get rid of him, Kevin obviously just need his bell rung.

G:

Who cares? Put a reporter on the case and let them run with it while your guys figure out the Titans. Again, I most definitely start Vick this week if he’s healthy. And you’re not? Conviction, G. And I don’t mean years added to the sentence.

This is my 1st post on here but I feel you G. It does sound a little fishy. My argument with the whole QB situation is that it shouldn’t have taken for Vick to go down for Kevin to finally play that good. But me being a diehard Eagle fan, I’m happy we won. But Vick is still a better QB and deserves to start. See, when Kolb went down, it was because of injury…AND he wasn’t playing well. But when Vick when down, it was because of injury BUT he was playing like the best QB in the league. So there is a difference and Michael should get his spot back. Also, Michael can throw for 300 yards and 4 TDs and do the things that Kolb can do…BUT Kevin cannot throw for 300 and 4 TDs and run for 100 and a TD ALL IN THE SAME GAME like Vick can do. Michael places fear in the hearts of ANY defense. Kolb played great but he is no Michael Vick! At all.

Something is not right. Andy is doing his press conference right now. He just said…”I wanted Michael in the back while the game was playing so that he could get treatment. He deserves to get treatment.” He also said there’s a good chance that Kevin is the starter this week.

Kolb starts and plays this week..
VIck will be dressed and on sideline this time, but will not play (unless Kolb get’s injured)
Vick can use the next 2-3 weeks to fully heal so he can throw passes without any pain..
I think Peters,Bunkley, & D-Jax will all be out for this upcoming game and will be able to utilize the extra time off with the Bye week to get ready for the 2nd hald of the season..
This entire story sounds fishy and I don’t like reading about comments being made about practicing.
The last thing this young team needs is a veteran player who is supposedly highly respected and looked at as a leader telling the public that practice is unimportant and doesn’t make a difference on how he plays… If this is true, I would deal Vick in a minute for I would not want a leader on my team who feels that practice is a nuisance.. I hope theat Vick isn’t fallen back to his former ways of being a primma-donna,not working hard to improve his skills and not being a leader or good teammate this is how he was back in his Atlanta Falcon days…

Kolb is one of the leaders in passing pct. Like usual, Manning,Brady, and Brees are up there around 67%. Vick is at 61. He has improved and exciting to watch but i am afraid in Cahmpionship game and SB those extra completed passes add up and moves the chain. When he faces great defenses, they will shut his running down like Patriots did to Mcnabb, we did to Vick. Scrambling QB look like the ultimate weapon against most teams, it’s the Championship and SB games i am worried about. Running makes up some missed passes but not all. I don’t know if Kolb can keep it up but if he can he is my QB. QB’S like Ben,Tom, Mr. Manning, and Brees always have high passing pct.(it’s common sense, best qb’s complete their passes) win SB’s against tough D. plus in SB’s the pct goes higher, and i don’t think Vick can throw a 70+ % in a Championship game.

G ~ Is it possible AR never intended on using Vick, but put him on the active roster to throw a head fake to the Falcons. If so, him not dressing and the “getting treatment” story makes sense. If he really planned on using him for an extreme emergency there is no way he could be in the locker room and not suited up.

Andy Reid is tight lipped about some of the dumbest things. The eagles create there own controversies.

I heard thru some sources that Vick couldn’t throw a pass over 15-20 yards with any zip on it..
They are shielding him to make other teams think he may be available to play but in reaility, he can’t just yet. Vick is out of action until the Colts game after the Bye Week …

Paul, I do not know you…So I cant judge you. But I can say this…Stop jumping to conclusions man. Stop worried about how players feel and all that BS. Just focus on Football. You dont know Michael Vick. If the man feels like he can play without practicing, so be it. He doesn’t care what Paul Mancini thinks…So really all that you just said was irrelevant and waste of typing. Besides, I do remember Michael Vick saying, “NOT TO SOUND ARROGANT OR COCKY BECAUSE I’M NOT, But….I don’t need to practice to play on Sunday.” So he clearly stated he was not trying to be arrogant or cocky/disrespectful in anyway. When the media asks these players questions, they answer, some give the team answers in blue text and some are honest like Michael. If thats how he feels, thats how he feels. Stay out the media bs. Watch football. SMH.

***Today is my 1st day on here but I’ve been reading G. Cobb’s articles on here for awhile and I’m sorry Paul, but you’re very annoying and your views are just unbelievable. lol. Like, you talk as if you know it all…when you clearly do not. Just like you mentioned his premadonna image and old ways when Michael Vick was in Atlanta, WHO CARES?! That was then…this is now. Its clear to see that the man has changed….But he says 1 thing about he feels good enough to play without practicing and you want to assume stuff and harp on the man. Step off. You people crack me up.

And last, I happen to be friends with King Dunlap. Cool guy and down to earth. I knew what he could do. I would hear you guys talk trash about him saying he wasn’t good enough, this and that…prior to Sunday’s game. And what did he do? Thats right, he shut the haters up and made you respect him. You dudes want to give Kolb all the slack in the world and time he needs to mess up, then you have to hold that standard to every other player….Or you are just a biased person….YA DIG?

Paul – I tihnk you have to take what at least some of these guys say with a grain of salt. They are not the sharpest tools in the box so to speak. For instance, if I ran the circus and had TO on my time, I’d tell the QB to treat his mouth like a random word generator and basically not get worked up over what comes out. Vick could have just been expressing self confidence – he can excel regardless of the amount of time that he put in. We should resist the Philly urge to jump ship, and start remembering all the positive things everyone was saying about his work ethic, first in/last out, weights, etc… before trying to ship him off to Buffalo. And by the way (LOL) if birds can get a 1 from the Browns for KK, why not role the dice and make the deal.

Beijing – because Kolb can play. If you buy a new car, would you then sell it just because someone will buy it? Hell no, you need to drive it, that’s why you bought it in the first place. A first round pick is a gamble. But giving away a QB who is young and can play is a BIGGER gamble – keeping Vick and having nothing behind him would be incredibly stupid because the guy has screwed up things in the past and he gets injured. The best case scenario is to keep both players. You need to have two solid QBs, and it’s incredibly hard to get that. You don’t throw it away if you have it. Remember, #1 picks could be freddie mitchell, jamarcus russell, (the list goes on), you don’t trade a sure thing for a gamble, that’s just preposterous….

I am a big boy and take the criticism, I realize that I can come across as a pompus-know it all sometimes, but I am just a passionate fan like most others on here. I am glad too see you on board and hope you contribute some good points because that’s what it’s all about, more topics and points of view.
I think Vick was more seriously hurt than the Eagle let on which is why they kept him off the field but didn’t want to annouce it so the Falcons Defense would have to prepare for him…

Don’t disagree that two is better than one, BUT if one buys into the concept that the Birds won’t have both of them next year, and probalby will have to make a choice which train to ride, given all of the arguments that were flying on this site (no TD’s in preseason, brutal Packer half, deer-in-headlights, etc….) and G’s comments, AND given the porous OL that existed earlier in the year, Vick seemed like the logical choice even with his flaws. But after the past couple of weeks with what seems like a new OL, who knows what the best choice is. BUT IF the Browns would offer a #1, this probably means a top 5 pick, it might be worth rolling the dice. And BTW, KK is not that young… he is young game-wise, but not chronologically.

We need to get him outta here before his carriage turn into a pumpkin…..and with the Titans on the Horizon, it’s almost Midnight.

All this crap I’m hearing about accuracy and he hung us best weapon out to dry. This dude cost DJax a lot of money.

Get him out of here while we can still get something for him…..Do you guys know which teams wold give up something for Kolb?
