Post Game Celebration In The Eagles Locker Room

Caution: There will be immediate audio when you click on this story.

It took maximum effort for the Birds to find a way to battle back againt the New York Giants.  They had to believe in each other even though the situation looked impossible.

Their backs were up against the wall and the NFC East Division title was slipping away.  They were being dominated by the Giants and it looked like all hope was gone.

Some how, some way they picked themselves up, fought back and pulled out an improbable victory.

It was a once in a lifetime event, which we’ll never forget.  The emotion of coming back from 21 points down in less than eight minutes had Eagles fans going crazy.  Imagine how excited the players were who were going through this.

They were on a tremendous high in the locker room after the game.  It was truly incredible.  After seeing this you can understand why head coach Andy Reid was out of character when he talked to the media after the game.

Take a look at this:

i watched it about 8 times and it gives me goose bumps over and over again…….. My Son who is 5years old was imitating Mike Vick while throwing punches at the camera LOL!……

For a kid who is 5yrs. old to see what Vick is doing on the field….. Makes me say to myself…….. What an Influence this guy has made….. My son wants a Vick Jersey….. And him and D-Jax are his favorite players……. Like when I was a kid Randall Cunningham was my favorite and keith Jackson…… What Vick did in the past is something my kid didnt witness…. He only sees the positive things on the field and the will to just fight win or lose……… TO never give up… NEVER……

I think this is making AR a better coach and better father to see young guys responding the way they are this season….. He is having the most fun as a HC………. He believe’s in this team….. He believes that second chance is something that people needs to consider in this world…….(That judges and criticizes individuals) He takes heat more than any other person i’ve ever seen in coaching……… Thats why I say….. AR coach of the year candidate this year???????? WHo knows with a team who is the youngest in the league!!!!!!!

Herreman’s play this 2nd Half of the Season has been very good (as has Jason Peters)
maybe Todd is finally over those nagging foot and ankle injuries that he’s has the last 1 1/2 years..
and also maybe him and Peters are finally comfortable and used to playing next to each other for as a tandem, there are not too many better LG/LT tandems as solid as Herremans and Peters..

This is the closest knit team we have had. Even more the 2004. The team both O and D have total confidence for Vick. He is the clear cut leader and man I am praying that this is finally the year I relieve all my past anguish.

ozzman, we don’t know for sure that this is the closest knit team in the history of the Eagles LOL. We didn’t always have access to the locker room to really know that. Having said that, this team is together and hopefully they keep it up. Remember, it wasn’t that long ago that Andy was chewing them out.

I know they said Avant got a concussion on that block when he leveled the Giants player but it didn’t seem too bad considering the way he was talking and looking while walking off the field. A bad concussion and a person is looking dazed even when they are just chillin.

Re-watching the game: On the Giant’s first TD, we blitzed but didn’t get to Manning. Patterson had good position, but was manhandled, as Manningham pushed off on his helmet. That’s how he got the separation. I can’t blame him for that one. When we send the blitz, it’s got to get there.

Transactions today

Eagles release TE G Mills (after releasing C Ingram last week) now the team is down to 2 TE’s
on the Roster (Celek/Harbor)

Eagles place FS N Allen on IR and is out for the season
Eagles activate FS J Wall to the active roster and will be the 4th Safety and a reserve (Behind Mickell/Coleman/Anderson)

What I am curious is that Eagles promoted to active Roster DT J Owens (who has been on the Practice squad all season) which now would give then 5 DT’s which is alot to carry…
Is one of the 4 DT’s hurt (Dixon,Bunkley,Patterson or Laws), Are they tinking about sliding one of
the DT to DE in passing situations … Carrying 5 DT’s seems to be a lot especially when Eagles are a little thin at ILB and the Secondary..

anyone know what’s going on here..

December 21, 2010 3:49 pm

you really believe that this team would have reacted the same way with 5?

that they were every bit as much a team as this one appears to be?

yeah, we have definately had some strong leaders in the past, Dawk, Sheldon, BWest, Runyon, Vincent, Joyner, BE, Reggie….but it was well known back in the day that there was an offense vs. defense mentality in the Buddy days…..last year there appeared to be an “Old gun vs. Young gun” mentality….yeah we don’t often get a chance to see shots from inside the locker room like this, but these guys appear pretty united to me…..at least that is what I am hoping because for us to win the SB it will probably take the magician pulling another one out of his hat!!

phillywill

December 21, 2010 3:56 pm

yea they came back from 40 in the 4th qtr
do u think they would go in the lockerroom and lay down or something i dont understand

i thought we celebrated a lil to much if u ask me
we beat the giants a team we beat 6 str8 times
a feat that 5 did damn near every yr here
so maybe ur right green maybe he wouldnt have hooted and hollered as much for the nfc east crown maybe ur right
hoot holler pop champagne do whatever the hell yall want if yall win the big 1

actually PW, I don’t think what I was trying to say came out right…..I wasn’t talking about the reaction after the game in the locker roon with 5, I was talking about him leading them back like that….I didn’t do a good job of getting my point across. I was comparing Vick to McNabb in their abilities to “rally the troops” and lead them back from a big deficit….the locker room stuff really is secondary to my initial point

scorpiodsu
scorpiodsu
December 21, 2010 4:08 pm

green, no one said this specific team would react the same way with 5. But we’re not talking about this team with number 5. We’re talking about this team vs other years. Who knows if this team is more tight knit than the 2004 team or the 1992 team or the 1981 team? No one knows. They were hyped from coming back from 21 points in the 4th quarter. But it was just a couple weeks ago that Desean was pissed and Vick had to face questions about getting him the ball. So for someone to just say this is the most close knit team ever, is just a silly thing to say. Now it may appear that way now, but we’re living in the moment. Who knows what when on in the locker room of all those teams that made the NFC championship. NO ONE KNOWS.

scorpiodsu
scorpiodsu
December 21, 2010 4:10 pm

Yes they appeared united and I fully believe they are. But any team that comes back from that deficit would appear the same way. We weren’t talking about unity after the Bears smacked us around on the field. People just go way overboard. Every time some happens in Philly sports it’s either worst thing ever or the best thing. Never in between.

I feel you PhillyWill
just the way that this victory came to be is what excited the squad…when they reflect, I hope they realize that they got they *bleep* busted for 3 1/2 quarters…alot of excitement following a comeback like this know doubt…but the big picture is we got man handled the first 3 quarters of the game…as a fan, I dont want to see that type of performance again…

scorpiodsu
scorpiodsu
December 21, 2010 4:15 pm

Rallying the troops is not the same thing as being close knit the way people want to portray it. I do agree that I don’t think McNabb could have brought this team back but I think that’s more ability than anything. So just because we see a locker room celebration they are all of a sudden the closest group of guys in franchise history? I’ll pass on that.

And like PW said, it was the Giants. Not the Superbowl. A great comeback win for the ages, but again, it wasn’t the super bowl. Celebrating after that win doesn’t prove that they are anymore tight knit than they were a week ago or more than a team from. decade ago They were living in the moment. And people say silly things. I bet the 04 team was very tight knit going to the bowl with TO chant on the sidelines, Freddie Mitchell having fun and destroying everyone they faced and everything looking great. Doesn’t look so “put together” when you lose.

greenfan
greenfan
December 21, 2010 4:18 pm

scorp…I was commenting on PW’s talk about past leaders on the team, that was how a former leader was brought into the discussion.

You guys are right…this team is nothing special…every team in the NFL would react this way….we shouldn’t care or get excited about this team.

scorpiodsu
scorpiodsu
December 21, 2010 4:18 pm

And people have to understand comparing different eras of football just doesn’t make sense. For 1 winning makes everything look better than what it is. 2 circumstances are different. 3, we do not know what goes on in this or any other past Eagle’s squad locker room or off the field. This was a great win that warranted that celebration but that’s all it tells me, they were just excited about coming together as a team and winning that game. And that’s great. Doesn’t mean no other team in history has ever had the same unity.

greenfan
greenfan
December 21, 2010 4:23 pm

I believe that these Giants have the 3rd ranked defense in the league…this wasn’t some win over Detroit….it was a division rival with an equal record….division title and playoff seeding on the line…I do not forget, and have posted earlier regarding the fact that they played like sh** for 3 1/2 qtrs to dig themselves the hole they were in…but they found a way to win…..if you remember a similar circumstance last year we had the last game of the season, a win meant a playoff bye and #2 seeding…everyone remembers how last season ended…we have a new team in town, a new attitude and a new swagger…sorry if fans sometimes get excited, if that offends

scorpiodsu
scorpiodsu
December 21, 2010 4:24 pm

green, I know what you were commenting on and I agree that McNabb would not have been able to do the same thing. But when people say silly stuff like this is the most close knit team ever for the Eagles, that’s just someone going overboard and living in the moment because that’s an observation based on something that almost never happens and not on facts. The facts are we don’t know/remember that much about how those other teams bonded or whatever. This team is something to be excited about but there’s a fine line between being excited and going overboard.

And the reason I say stuff like this (and about all Philly teams) is because this past baseball season idiots had this past Phillies team has the best ever when they didn’t win squat. With the pitching and injuries and still winning all those games and Halladay, Oswalt, Hamels, people immediately went on to declare the best Phillies team ever. How ridiculous was that? They were living in the moment and it was great at that time but at the end they didn’t accomplish much. So people just need to hold off with making outlandish statements like that because in a lot of cases they are just living in the moment and saying whatever emotion they are feeling rather than thinking.
