(Video in Article) Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was interviewed by Dave Spadaro of PhiladelphiaEagles.com this morning in front of his locker at the Nova Care Complex.
Vick enthusiastically said It was great to be able to get the franchise tag.
“It guarantees one more year”, Vick said. “A year that I plan on making one of the best years of my life and whatever it takes to put things in motion and try to make that Super Bowl run that’s what I’m going to do, as well as bringing the guys along and pulling them in with me”.
Vick said he’s looking forward to getting better by studying the game tapes, looking at the things he didn’t do very well last season and working to improve in those areas. The NFL Comeback Player of the Year says he’s got all of the “cuts” which are the tapes of specific plays broken down by the play, the formation or the defensive coverages or blitzes which they faced. These allow you to focus on specific fundamentals and detail because you get the chance to isolate and pinpoint something you want to change.
I still Vick would benefit from being with Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg to get their feedback about what he needs to change. Unfortunately they won’t be able to spend time with him if there is a lockout.
The franchise quarterback also said he’s going to study the game plans which he had to work with last year.
Vick said he’s thankful for the awards he has won this season and that includes the Maxwell Player of trhe Year award which he will receive tomorrow night at Harrah’s in Atlantic City.
This could be the last time Vick spends time in that building for a while if a new CBA isn’t agreed upon by midnight tonight or if the deadline isn’t extended.
I hope he really means it and is working to improve his game. You can be rest assured that he is being studied on tape and our competition will be ready to face him next year (if there is one)………….
