So Far Today, Quite A Few Surprises In The NFL

Quite a few shockers in the NFL so far today. Here’s a quick look at what’s going on in the NFL so far today.

Could rookie quarterback Cam Newton, whom quite a few experts have already called a bust, lead the Carolina Panthers to a win over the Green Bay Packers? Well right now they’ve got a lead on them, 13-7, at the half and Newton has thrown for 180 yards. Green Bay has gone ahead of the Panthers 14-13. The Packers have taken over from the Panthers and picked off Newton three times, but the rookie has thrown for 422 yards today. That’s two 400 yard passing days for the youngster.

The Oakland Raiders are starting to impress me, Darren McFadden. Richard Seymour has made them a better defensive team. They’re putting it on the Buffalo Bills at the half, 21-3. The Bills have come back to make a game of it. Now they have taken the lead 38-34.

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints are battling it out with the Chicago Bears and they lead at the half 16-10. This has turned into a laugher in favor of the Saints, 30-13.

The Minnesota Vikings who stunk up the place last week against the San Diego Chargers, but they’re leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the half 17-0. Will they be able to keep it up? The Vikings have blown a 17 point lead and are now trailing 24-20.

The Detroit Lions are trying to convince people they’re for real. They lead the Kansas City Chiefs 20-3 at the half. The Lions are totally blowing out the Chiefs 48-3.

The Cleveland Browns are currently beating the Peyton Manning-less Indianapolis Colts, 14-9. The Browns are now leading 24-12 as the Colts aren’t the same team any more.

The Washington Redskins continue to surprise fans and experts as they lead the Arizona Cardinals at the half, 10-7. It’s a close one between the Skins and Cards with Arizona currently leading 21-19. Washington has kicked a field goal to take the lead and win 22-19 over Arizona. Imagine that the Skins are 2-0 in the division.

The Steelers are rebounding from the beating they took from the Chicago Bears as they have been all over the Seattle Seahawks, 17-0 at the half. The Steelers have shut out the Seahawks 24-0.

The New York Jets are handling the Jacksonville Jaguars 15-3. That doesn’t surprise anyone because the Jags are a terrible football team. The Jets have destroyed the Jags, 32-3.

The Tennessee Titans are shocking the Baltimore Ravens at the moment. They lead them 20-10 in the third quarter. The Ravens have come back to earth as the Titans look they’ve got this one,

G-Man,
Name me 1 ‘expert” who has labeled Cam Newton a “Bust”, that may be the most ridiculous statement I have read on any of your articles ..

Looks like all the bottom feeder teams who have had high top 10 picks for the last 10 years are starting to reap the rewards. I mean hell Detroit should be good they have been picking a top 5 pick for the last decade.

Nobody knew this kid was gonna be this good. I mean there are certain situations where qbs that arent that good, ala Kolb. have good games. You can just tell this isnt a fluke. This kid is good. He can do it all. I for one didnt think he was an NFL qb at all. Im not alone. This is his 2nd friggin game. He has that swagger. He has that it factor. I believe.

6 players in NFL history have passed for 400 yards in consecutive games, Marino and Fousts among them. Cam Newton has done it in his first two starts in his NFL career. amazing.

Romo is out with cracked ribs and Kitna’s been intercepted twice; G-man…Cam’s going to be a good Qb. He just has tot get his mechanics and foot work down. Imagine If Big Reid was teaching him how to be a Qb, he’d be sick. Romo’s coming back in the game with cracked ribs at this point.

I stated after 2 Preseason games, that I was impressed with Newton and that whatever you want to call it, maturity, confidence, natural leadership, intangibles etc,etc … He certainly has the “it factor”
He has a bright future ahead of him if keeps his focus and work ethic on getting better..

Is it me or is the NFL redzone the greatest thing ever? Even if you have Direct TV and all the games you cant keep switching to diffrent games you miss to much. NFL redzone does it for you. Its great.

VJ is playing under the Franchise Tag, so he’s making a very large Salary for this Season and then will move on afterbeing a Free-Agent next off-season
I can’t see him playing for SD Organization moving forward and for their GM AJ Smith who many players learn to despise playing for him after a couple years..

PMan – people don’t like Roseman or Banner – AJ Smith will sit there on TV and tell you he is smarter then you, knows more about footbal thenyou, and you can kiss his ass – player, coach (he is the reason Marty Schottenhiemer got fired after a 14-2 season) or fan, if you disagree – he tendered three players last year – and told them if theydidn’tsign, they would play for league minimum.. V Jackson made I think a prorated 800K last year.) grass is always greener on other side

For the Record G-Man,
Rod Chudzinksi is the Offensive Coordinator for th Panthers and was previously the OC for the Chargers under HC Norv Turner and this Panther system is a virtual copy of what the Chargers have done in recent seasons under QB Rivers . Lot’s of Double TE Sets, lots of max protection and deep routes and of course, utilizing the screens to the RB’s.. I don’ think the Chargers have dumbed down their offense the last few years under QB Rivers and I don’t think the Panthers are dumbing down their Offense now under Newton..
This is not the old Panthers Offense that they ran the last few years under HC John Fox and former OC Jeff Davidsion where it was Run 1st down, then Run 2nd Down and then throw short safe passes to keep the chains moving, It’s an entriely different Coaching staff and schemes they have for their Offense now..

Wide open recievers all day long throughout the NFL. QBs putting up huge numbers. No reason why Vick doesnt put up huge numbers and recievers dont get open all night long. No excuses. Lets go Birds!

WHO the hell cares about the Panthers or what their offense does..Newton has been impressive but wait until NFL Defenses actually have film on him to plan for before we think he is any good. But anyways Panthers wont make the playoffs in the next 5 years so who cares…

Tonights game might be the toughest this year…Falcons at home..playing with desperation to avoid 0-2…Matt Ryan will not want to get shown up by Vick…If we can get a win tonight it will be huge

Matt Ryan just got killed by Jenkins on a helmet to helmet hit…And guess what no FLAG(Im happy as an Eagles fan) but just wanted to point out the white boy didn’t get the call…So take the race conspiracy BS and shove it

mimitaro – The wide 9 surely doesn’t make defending the run any easier.

mimitaro

September 18, 2011 8:56 pm

Theyre only in wide 9 on obvious passing downs though. Most first downs we are lined in a basic 4-3

pheags88

September 18, 2011 8:56 pm

I like this wide 9 approach but on running downs lets have the D lineman line up much closer together..come on way too many big holes to run through

DRC was trying to point out that WHite had stepped OB before the pass got there, not at the catch…making it an illegal touch…but of course idiots on tv can never figure this shit out and so didn;t show proper replay.

Bradley going to be blamed (again) on here…but turner’s big run came to the left and it was the OLB who completely overpersued and left a huge hole
