Eagles Want Chaney In The Middle Against The Giants, But…………

Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo tried to tell us yesterday that the Eagles coaching staff has changed the positions of their starting linebackers for this game against the New York Giants. He left the door open to them moving back to their previous positions after this game.

There’s no way it will make sense for the Birds to be moving the linebackers back to their previous positions after this game. The idea of having Jamar Chaney be the middle linebacker this week, then move him back to strongside linebacker next week boggles my mind.

Chaney was the starting middle linebacker last year in the second New York Giants game. In that game he racked up 16 tackles and forced a key fumble which helped turn the game around. He belongs in the middle.

I can understand the Birds wanting him back at the middle linebacker position because the Giants are probably going to put the ball on the ground and grind it out against the Birds. Rookie linebacker Casey Matthews would be an easy target for the New York offensive line. Plus he fell apart at the end of the Falcons game and was getting turned all around.

The Eagles defense is 30th in the league against the run and they are sixth against the pass.

Castillo and his staff may believe that moving Chaney to middle linebacker in this game makes sense because the Giants have a good running game, but nobody at the tight end position to concern themselves. They may decide to move Chaney back to strongside linebacker in upcoming games to cover some of the good tight ends they have on the schedule.

I hope they don’t do it because moving the linebackers each week will make it difficult for the players to get better at their respective positions.

I really blame Andy Reid….Why in the hell would he turnover the defensive to a failed offensive line coach?

Didn’t he learn anything from the Segrest debacle? …or the inexperienced Mcdermott?

This Reid will not hire a qualified defensive coordinator who would endear himself with half the team.

That could threaten him. JJ was too old to threaten him. Mcdermott was an inexperienced project that couldn’t threaten him.

Juan is just happy to have a job after his pathetic offensive lines the last few years…He’s definately not threatening anyone.

We need a damn defensive coordinator that demands respect and wildd demand a top defensive linebacker to anchor his defense.

Andy is really the overlord of the offense and defense.

It’s time something change because this will cost us another opportunity this year. You can put your money on it.

songs i am a ried backer to a point , but agree with some of your points. right now we just need to outscore the opposition if they score 30 we have to score 31.
if the phillies score1 the pitcing staff needs to pitch a perfect game!

SONGS, the answers to your questions are easy. He’s an egotistical, stubborn, stupid, bastard, that thinks he invented the game! Square peg, in round hole Reid, is the only one in the history of the NFL, to take a coach on his staff, who has never been a coordinator, & make him a coordinator on the other side of the ball, with no experience! I’m not even going to start again, on all of his brilliant, ground breaking, roster moves. F^#@ing brilliant, absolute genius! HE & HIS ENTIRE STAFF NEED TO BE $#!T CANNED, ASAP!!! I CAN’T STOMACH LOOKING AT HIM ANYMORE!

What’s the old saying..
“When you have 2 MLB’s , you in essence, have none..”
Stop dicking around with these LB,s , put and keep Chaney at MLB and try
Rolle/Clayton/Jordan at WIll LB spot to cover the upcoming good TE’s that they will be facing after the Giants.. Or how about this, use DCR or even Asmo to lock up against the athletic TE’s of the Redskins,49ers,PAts,BIlls,COwboys.. I can’t understand why it appears so difficult for this Coaching Staff not to figure out how to get your best players on the field.. and with the current LB Corps, the Eagles strength lies with their 3 CB’s, so use them, be creative and not a flip-flop.. Castillo is in way over his head ..

This should be the game Jarret proves some value at safety. All I hear is he’s a hitter. He has to be playing with the current lack of TE and WR the Giants are playing with. If he can’t get on the field on first and second downs he was drafted too high like all the “experts” said.
I was fine with the Watkins pick, but he better start seeing the field or that picking will continue to be questioned.
These next few games may really propell the team to a good year, but the team has some very obvious holes.

Like I stated a few days ago when Tony G lit us up…we need to have DRC covering the TE’s. I like the move to have Chaney in the middle and hopefully he stays there.

One thing I’m not worried about is having the 30th ranked rush defense through 2 freakin games. For one, we have the best CB’s in the game so of course everyone will run the ball. Secondly, it’s been two games.

songs, you are 100% correct about reid and his ego, would n,ever have a buddy ryan type coordinator, but that is what this teams needs, think for a moment, reid should be the laughing stock of the nfl, to hire a failed offensive line coach to run your defense, and then anchor it in the middle with a guy with good hair as his best attribute, i am laughing with you dcar, lmfao, linebackers, hell, we dont need em, just ask andy

I think reid’s numbing press conferences have weakened the Philly press which affects the follow ups journalists should use when questioning reid’s staff.

Juan – “INTERCHANGEBLE” statement

follow up……

“Juan, why are you switching the linebackers if they’re interchangeable?”

I would actually pay see the look on his face if the media actually followed up with a tough question like that.

but, Reid have now soften what use to be a tough journalistic city.

Another lame ass topic to bash the eagles – reid press conferences – Yahoo SHuitdown corner had a great article from Tom Brady – you know the guy that most think is the best QB in NFL :

“I don’t often say exactly how I feel,” Brady said. “And I don’t often say exactly what I think. Because you don’t want to cause controversy. When there is controversy, all your teammates start getting asked about ‘What Brady said.’ Really, it becomes a distraction to the team. You’re trying to get ready for an important game on the weekend, and then now, on Thursday and Friday, the only thing that people want to talk about is some comment the quarterback on your team made.

“When that happens, I feel bad and a certain responsibility to my teammates that in some way I let them down. That they have to be cleaning up a mess that I made for the rest of the team. And that’s never a position that I want to put my teammates in because we have too many other things to worry about.”

In those few sentences, Brady perfectly sums up why there’s no benefit in ever saying anything interesting to reporters. Unless you’re an athlete playing a character, like Chad Ochocinco(notes) or Brian Wilson, doing so can only lead to distraction

Wow – you think – so this isn’t Navy’s opinion about Ried’s PC it Brady’s – you don’t say shit becuase you don’t want to spend the next two days squaking

and my lasto today before I run off – another fine example of stupic eagles fans taking quotes and twisting them thinking they are funny but really just showing they are ignorant – If the TE is lined up to the left – and power is left – where does the Sam line up – to the left – great answer so the will is to the right and the Sam has the TE – now, what happens when the TE goes in motion to the right – and the power shifts from power left to power right – oh my god – the will becomes the Sam in everything but the name?? And why can’t a 3 LB set where you expect the W and S to have the same responsibilites be called ‘interchangeable’ Chaney has played the middle – Matthews played the outside – both just last year – wouldn’t that seem like it would be interchangeable –

but I guess when you really have nothing constructive to comment on you pick apart press conferences –

So sick of hearing about our linebackers…Whats the point to just keep stating the obvious…Yes they are one of the worst group of linebackers overall in the league but guess what every team in the league has a weakness…Im sorry but I don’t really see elite teams in the league this year…Even the Packers D looks bad this year…The Pats? Take a look at how bad their D is this year. I thought Bellichick was suppose to be the Defensive mastermind in the league. Their Terrible on D. I guess were not the only ones who don’t have high draft choices work out the way we thin they will..watch Buffalo torch them this week in a high scoring game.

Our team has one of the best Defensive lines in the league. I think Jason Babin already has more sacks in 2 games than he did the whole year he was here. We have the best set of corners in the league. They held the group of Atlanta WRs (White, Jone, Douglas) who many believe to be one of the best trio of in the entire league to 7 catches 80 yards Combined…Yes TG had a great game but he also made some catches that he prolly couldn’t make again. And our corners are going to be so much better by Nov/Dec when the games mean most. Just sayin, as a Die hard Eagles fan..I’ve never seen another game where we lost but I liked what I saw in our team for the most part. I stated before that was going to be the hardest game of the year. ATL is basically unbeatable at home and they were coming of a bad loss. I think we are a better team than the Falcons easily and if we meet them again in the playoffs I wouldn’t be worried at all.

But again you not going to have great players at every position. Noone does.

Damn I wish the Eagles would just offer a mid round pick to Seattle for Aaron Curry who is just sitting on the bench so I could stop reading article after article about our LBs here…Just because he is on the bench over there I wouldn’t hesitate. Seattle is a joke and I dont think the people over there have any idea what their doing…I mean they blew a ton of money on Sidney Rice, who might be the most overrated WR in the league. Farve played out of his mind to make Rice look great one year in his career. Had people fooled. And then the gave the keys to their team to T-Jax who is more of a joke, guy should never be anything more than a backup.

I remember some of the morons on here who wanted Sidney Rice over D-jax..Thank god people who think like that don’t run our team. Just because Sidney Rice has size and is strong blah blah blah…Yup thats why he is the one that hurt all the time.

How about the Eagles Offer RT W Justice and CB J Hanson for LB Curry..
Seattle has serious needs at their OT and CB positions.. (Justice did play under Seahawk Coach P Carroll at USC..)

I don’t see Hanson going anywhere now. But I wuld love to unload Winston Justice off this team..If they were going to do that trade they would prolly need WJ cap space to fit Curry in here since he was a very high pick. WJ and 4th or 5th why not.

Random note…How does Romo’s “injured” lung heal in 4 days…a sore throat doesn’t even heal that fast…Sounds like some straight up BS that JJ made up to the media to alter the perception people have for Romo. Would love to see Dallas lose to the Redskins.

AWOL (WMONELL), whatever your name is, you do nothing but bash us, this site & the media, but yet you’ve tried to promote your own blogsite, out there in SD. You are nothing but a jealous, condescending, hypocritical, @$$hole! I can’t speak for everyone, but I base my thoughts & comments off of how what I see, how I feel & what is reality! I don’t need, or want the media’s influence. Nor am I stupid, or weak minded enough, to be brainwashed, or influenced by anyone! But yet you, Navy, Schiller & Birdo, to name a few, constantly have nothing negative to say about this organization, like they have actually been a dynasty, or accomplished something special. Being in contention ever year, destined to fail to win it all, is nothing but a loser mentality & a comfortable mind set at being mediocre, or just about right there. If that’s the case, i’d rather be labled a negadelph, or a pessimist! I’m no loser, so I will never take on that mind set! I will die first!

This team will never win a SB, until this staff(Reid, Morningwood, Ritalin boy Castillo), are gone! Their philosophy is ignorant, repetitive, predictable & flawed & their attitudes are egotistical, stubborn, condescending & stupid! Need I say more! If anybody disagrees with this, you absolutely do not have a clue, & what you say & think has no bearing on reality! You are a mindless, sackless, brain washed, zombie, Reidford & should get your fan card revoked! I route for my teams, not the f*ing FO’s or coaching staffs. I wear my heart on my sleeve, & i’m brutally honest. If the truth hurts you guys, I don’t care & I don’t know what to tell you! Everything that I’ve stated, since the lockout ended, has either come to fruition, or I have been vindicated, & proven correct, in my accessment of this team. So your comments are nothing, but noise pollution. Until this teams FO, changes & proves me wrong, they will never win. It’s too late now to do all of this BS roster shuffling! We don’t have the personnel!

“The idea of having Jamar Chaney be the middle linebacker this week, then move him back to strongside linebacker next week boggles my mind.”

Boggles the mind is an understatement…

When Andy Reid traded out of the 1st round and gave the pick to a division rival. That Boogled my mind.

When Andy Reid saw his starting center go down at the end of the season and made no effort to replace him. That Boogled my mind.

When Andy Reid started this season protecting Mike Vikes blindside with Knee Injury guy, Could not start in College guy, and 3 time back surgery guy… That boogled my mind.

But hiring a offensive line coach to be a defensive coordinator sent me strait to the medicine cabinet for some Zanex, To the dentist for some novacane.
To the emergency room for some spinal anesthesia.

On the way I crashed my motorcycle into a car that caught on fire. Luckily some kind hearted pedestrians pulled me from under the burning car. (did you see that young girl get in there and try to lift that car? awesome) Any way what they did not report on TV was, when they dragged me out, I asked them was Andy Reid still the head coach, when they said yes…

I told them to put me back under the burning car, and have a nice day.

The bottom line is if it looks like a duck it probably is. Everyone before the season said we need to upgrade at linebacker and now 2 games in it has proven to be so. I guess we could just do the ostrich thing and put our heads in the sand and act like there are no issues with this team but to anyone wanting to see this team win the Super Bowl we know that we are going to have shore up our holes on defense. To act like the linebackers are “interchangeble” is simply a lie and if you believe that you have been sniffing too much paint thinner.

Instead of moving mathews to weak side lineback they should of moved him to his more natural position.. the practice squad where he’ll be able to help the real players get ready for sundays
