Reid: “Michael Vick has a hand contusion. Not a break”

Andy Reid just completed his Weekly Monday New Conference. He had some major good news for Eagles fans. Yesterday everyone thought Michael Vick had a broken right hand.

Reid says Vick doesn’t have a broken right hand after all.

“Michael Vick has a hand contusion”, Reid explained. “Not a break. We had a few different shots taken of his hand yesterday during the game. The early clips showed that there was no break. The ones that came back when he was on the field showed that there was a potential fracture there. Today he had a scan and it showed there was no break. It was a blood vessel sitting above the bone. That happens at times with X-rays. The blood vessel makes it look like it was a fracture. There is still a bunch of swelling. It is sensitive to the touch. The positive is there is not a fracture there.”

Reid wouldn’t rule out Vick playing on Sunday against the 49ers. He said the key would be how much of the swelling would go down on his hand and how much pain Vick could take.

Last night when Vick talked to the media, he said he felt he could play with the broken hand if he were able to bend it enough to hang onto the football.

Reid wouldn’t commit to starting Vince Young or Mike Kafka if Vick isn’t able to play.

Just rewatched the game and Vick holds on to the ball to long. He holds it to the very last minute and he gets drilled every time. Vick has to learn when to give up on a play. If someone is not open dont stand around and wait forever for them, just throw the ball away or run it. This is what Vick was doing early last season and why he had success. Why did he stop? i have no idea.Maybe because the coaches want him to stay in the pocket more, but the problem with that is, he’s getting hurt more in the pocket than when he runs.Vick didnt even fumble as much when he was playing his game. He needs to play his game and they need to stop trying to make him a traditional pocket passer because thats not what he is.They should just keep showing him how to read blitzes and let him play his game. The Problem isnt Vick, its the coaches.

How is this good news? Vick has declined in every game he had played thus far going back to last year. They gave a old quarterback that plays young relying on his legs and his arm a long term contract. I am much more scared to play against Vince Young than I am Michael Vick. Giving what Reid and Marty did with Vick if they can do the same thing in developing Vince Young the way they did Vick I see Vince Young as the future of your team not vick.

I would sit his Vick’s ass down this week and observe from the sidelines,
If the Eagles cannot beat the 49ers at home with VY or Kafka, then they don’t deserve not will they be a Playoff Team anyways…
I think the Eagles are coming to regret this $100 Million Deal they signed Vick too and now makes them even more hesitant to extend D-Jax Deal for big $$$.. ..

i agree he should sit .. but i belive its the coaches.. just let vick do what he does .. he sitting in the pocket way too long.. its not going to be a well oiled machine like brady and the pats although brady threw 4 picks yesterday.. they dont have the personal for that..

***This is what they are saying in the desert***

Kolb needs to go through his reads faster and make better decisions.

kolb bailed out the pocket way to often when it wasn’t necessary.

Combine that with Kolb’s overall lack of ball security, 2 INT 1 fumble

Kolb comes off passing plays, turning his back from the play far too often

Kolb relys now too much on Fitzgerald to bail him out of plays.

Kolb has a tendency to lock on receivers at critical junctures of the game…

You could say the same for Vick and about 80% of the QB in the NFL these days..

Here’s the funny part about some of the statements about Vick is that even when he isn’t playing well, the team is winning and the he gets hurt and it all falls apart. I agree that he needs to play a lot better but it’s quite evident that these players look even worse when Vick leaves the game.

Gotta Luv It, I was watching a lot of the Cards game yesterday and Kolb is nothing special. He makes good throws like everyone else and makes terrible ones too. The touchdown to Fitz was like the Eli Manning super bowl no look pass just tossing it in the air and not even knowing where the ball is going. He’ll probably get better but he’s not special right now.

Being the underdog is what I like…Now everyone is talking about how bad the Eagles are playing…I like it! This team will perform better with their backs against the wall…Now we got a hill to climb…I guarantee you, it will be climbed…few months from now, I’m gonna let off on all the silly ass cats that wanted to jump ship back in week 2…

There are concerns with this team, but let’s not over-react. This is the same Reid who can’t ever coach in September. The same Vick that finished 2nd in MVP voting last year. New O Line (what else is new), new D Line (what else is new), LB’s are weak (what else is new). Not saying this is a Super Bowl Team, yet – but the Buffalo Bills are a top tier power ranked team?!?!? Come on folks, calm down a little. It’s week 3…
