Tim Tebow And The Broncos Worked Their Magic Again

What can you say about Tim Tebow?  This guy is a competitor and he is a winner. Tebow was at all awed by the situation, but he stepped up and made plays with the season on the line.

He showed it again yesterday by throwing for 316 yards against the league’s number one defense, the Pittsburgh Steelers.  They stacked the box against the Broncos running game by bringing up their safeties and it opened them up for big plays downfield.

It was a foolish game plan by the Steelers.  I know you have to control the Broncos ground game, but all they needed to do was play solid defense and let their own offense get going, then Denver would have had to start throwing the football and they would have had no trouble with Tebow and the Broncos offense.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau has been brilliant throughout most of his career, but his game plan yesterday was ridiculous.  He had his safeties playing up by the line of scrimmage and his corners in man-to-man coverage without any help inside.

It was foolish.  If the Steelers had played their regular defense, the Broncos would run the ball with some success, but they would have trouble putting a lot of points on the board.  Once the Steelers offense had been able to put some touchdowns on the board, Tebow would have been forced to throw the ball against a regular defense.

I guess LeBeau figured that they would force Tebow to beat them with his arm…even one of the best DC’s can have trouble.

With no safeties to be found that was a shocking end to the game, but Tebow recognized the opening and made the throw. There are alot of people who hate on him for his open display of his faith, but I like watching him. The guy won in FLA and he is finding ways to do it in the NFL. It is a good story, I would like to see it continue against “the hoodie”.

The Steelers really missed their most Valuable player on the Defense yesterday, and no it’s not #43 Troy Polamula.. It’s actually Safety Ryan Clark who usually covers the middle of the field and helps cover up Polamula’s over aggressive style and lack of Pass Coverage..
That was one of the worst Safety play, poor coverage technique and really poor angles taken by the Steelers Safeties all game long on those pass plays .. CB Ike Taylor should didn’t look that good yeasterday did he..

I’m glad the Steelers loss. I felt they were overrated and the defense isn’t the same. Tebow took advantage of his opportunities when no one give them a chance. I also felt Denver out coached the Steelers. John Fox seems to get the most of his players something that Andy Reid never does. All we do in Philadelphia is continue to make excuses and give him another year. If we don’t make the playoffs next year Reid will definitely be Fired!!!!!! Time Yours!!!!

Most of the wildcard games stunk this weekend, the Steelers Broncos game redeemed the whole weekend. I’ve been agnostic since I was a young child, but this Tim Tebow guy has been making me think twice about it all season. I know it’s a mighty long shot, but I hope they can bump on NE next week.

hey Pman….what is the feeling in Carolina with Fox winning in Denver?

A little surprising but Supportive.. John Fox did a good job while with the Panters but got a little stale his last season or 2 in Charlotte, What I tihnk is most surprising is how he ha gone with a young QB in Tebow to begin with since he never has liked using young QB (and was most likley forced to by Elway to see whather Tebow could cut it as a starter or not)
Fox was a luke-warm relationship with the local media in Charlotte similar to what AR has in Philly, talk about vauge and platitudes during Press-Conferences.. He was always cautious what he said and how othere views him but this year in Denver, it’s seems like he’s a little more relaxed and has openjed up.. I think most fans in the Charlotte are are happy for him that he’s doing well and have no ill will towards and it helps that the PAnthers apperaed to have hired a good young HC in Ron Rivera who is very straight-forward, positive type of personality but goes about his busines and since the Teams did better than expected and has a long of young promising players.. the Fans are noe excited again about the Cam Newton era..

Fox coached his last year as a lame duck, right? Many here are convinced that Lurie would never do that with Reid, so they feel that next year he is either extended or fired, that he would never coach that last year of his contract like Fox. Any thoughts?

Yes he did Green –
John Fox did Coach out his final year of his contract which is very unusual to see in this day of age of Teams/Coaches .. AR deal runs thru 2013, bu the remainder fo his staff thru 2012, If Coach AR/Eagles do not make a serious run in next years Playoffs, then He and his staff are finished.. and I really think that most of the NFL knows this which will hinder his chance to Hire top-notch assistants who don’t want to uproot and move for what could turn out a 1 Year Job/Position if AR/Tea are not sucessfull in 2012..
Yo often hear why Coaches hate to be in the final year of teir deals for this very reason, It’s hard to attract and hire OCaches and potential Free-agents if the rest of the NFL believes there is a good chanve of being a goner the following season and right now, that’s the feeling about Coach AR

I think Lurie would simply buy Coach AR out of his final Season and I would not be surprised if this buy-out fee/salary was already included abnd agreed upon when AR signed the 4 year extension a couple of years ago…
Since the rest of the Coaching Staff contracts are all up after 2012, there would be no cost to Lurie or the Eagles Organization to simply let them walk and not renew them and bring in a new HC Coach who would then bring in his own Staff..

That was what I thought Pman…and I think that because of this contract situation, it is making it difficult for AR to attract DC’s if he were to remove Castillo.

I agree with you 100%.. A top level Coordinator is not going to uproot his family or stain his reputation for a 1 Year Save Coach AR from getting fired Season.. I just don’t see it happening.. Last off-Season would have been the time to bring in a new experienced DC, but AR blew it as usual .. First mistale was hiring DL Coach Washburn before you have a Coordinator in place, not everone is enamored with the WIde 9 and not every DC candidate wants to deal with Washburns very strong personality and feel that as DC you are playing 2nd fiddle to Washburn .. Now with Castillo, you don’t get that for Castillo is worrying about learning his own job duties plus Castill has no ego, but that would not be the case with a Spags, Del Rio, or another strong fiery type of Personality.. DC’s Set the tone and the rest of the Defensive should fall in line to what the DC wants.. DL Coach Washgbur mdoes what he likes hell or high water and doesn’t care about stepping on anyones toes.. It’s how he operated but it does turn off a lot of his colleagues…

I wonder Pman if last year AR was against the McDerrmott firing and thus the search for a DC was really badly managed. I agree that last year the position would have held greater status around the league, but with Reid’s current contract situation, it would be more of a fall back position then prime spot.

I think Cacoh Ar was torn a little about Firing McDermott and that he hands were forced.. There really wasn’t any progress on the Defensive Performance from 2009 to 2010 while McDermott was DC and in denfense of MCDermott, I think it;’s fair that the Defensive Side of the ball was not given the attention and resources like the Offense was in Draft Picks,Free-agents, Coaching Staff support which is just another clear indication that Coach AR really has little clue or understanding about the Defensive side of the Team and that he was very fortunate to have a Coach JJ run the entire Defense with little attention from AR, but fast forward after JJ is gone and look what happens, Lets the sould and leader dawkings walk, Put in a young but over his head McDermott in place, keeps stiffs liek Rory Segrest as DL Coach even though he failed at ever other coaching positon, retians LB Bill Suey who never developed an LB to anywhere close to Pro-Bowl Status.. Hires a Cowboy Retread Bill Stewart as Secondary Coach, then after this disaster hired a proven former HC.DC in Dick Jauron but doesn’t giver him any authroity to do anything … What a waster coach AR has been on the Defensive side of the ball and when I actually think about, Juan Castillo did a pretty good job considering the shape of the Defense that he took over and then add new Assts, new Schemes and 4-5 brean new Starters and basically 1st and 2nd Year players at LB and Safety Position, I am not so sure who could have done much better or had better results than what Castillo did, I put th blame at AR/Roseman for Poor Drafts, Poor Coaching succession and mentoring and of course no real Depth at the LB for years and years..

The Teblow soap opera comes to a screening end next week, when reality sets in, & future HOF QB Brady puts an end to this media whore. It’s getting as bad as when Favre was on ESPN every 2 seconds. Hey I’m all for routing for the underdog, but this unwarranted craziness has to end.

And Tebow would have led the Broncos in 1 Season with little to no expectations and about 12 Career NFL Starts further and deeper into the Playoffs than the $100 Franchise Fraud that is Mike VIck…

You are right Dcar, no one should cover a rookie QB throwing for 300 yards and 2TDs, running for another to beat the Pitt Steelers in the playoff in OT. Terribly over hyped there. Why would we even want to talk about the most exciting playoff game of the weekend?

Paulman, vick and tebow are similar yet worlds apart it is fair game to criticize tebow but not vick, at least his mediocre q b skills, some with chutzpah like sal pal do and gcobb, but most others too week to say the truth like you just did

Bugs, no one is saying not to cover it. But this dude is getting overhyped, astronomically. It’s getting nauseating. I give him props, but he hasn’t did $#!t yet. It’s the same garbage we got for Favre, the last ESPN media whore. He didn’t win $#!t the last decade of his career, yet was talked about like he was the greatest ever. It would be cool to see this kid do good, but the media, headlines, & ridiculous overhyping of this kid, puts me off, & makes me sick of him already. Also the forced religious aspects of all this is also getting out of hand, & doesn’t belong in sports. I’m a raised Catholic, so don’t think I’m a non-believer, because I’m not.

It just makes me laugh at how much people are annoyed by him. Whether it is how he can’t throw or the religion thing. I hope he keeps winning, so he can keep driving you guys crazy.

Great stat Greenfan.
