Report: Michael Vick Has Nearly Paid Off All His Creditors

Michael Vick has almost totally taken care of all of his creditors according to TMZ.

Here’s what they wrote about it”according to a new filing in his bankruptcy case, he’s already reduced his outstanding debt to less than $400,000.

According to the docs, the outstanding debt is owed to Bank of America (related to one of his properties), BMW financial services, and his friendly neighborhood tax collector.

Sounds like a lot of money — but to put it in perspective … Vick earned over $11 MILLION between July and September 2011.”

You may think this has nothing to do with football, but I believe it does.  It shows discipline which is what Vick needs to take the additional steps in putting in the work to become the quarterback the Eagles need him to be.  He made tremendous progress when he was first released from prison and was focused only on football.  He needs to stay in the mindset.

I hear that he’s spending plenty of time at Nova Care Complex.  I feel all of the Peyton Manning talk has been good for him because it makes him know that getting a new contract doesn’t mean he’s reached his goal. For him to hear fans talking about discarding him to acquire Manning activates his competitiveness to make him want to prove to everybody that he can be the best.

Vick’s improvement is the most important facet of the Eagles off season.  It’s more important than the draft and free agency when it comes to how it will affect the Eagles 2012-13 season.

The ultimate goal is winning a Super Bowl which takes for granted that Vick makes major progress in perfecting his ability to read and adjust to blitzes and various defensive coverages; which then give him the ability to make the necessary adjustments to put the Eagles offense in the right play, so that he can play the quarterback position without taking physical risks which get him hurt.

The Peyton Manning talk puts a emphasis on Manning’s ability to make adjustments at the line of scrimmage, which is something you see from all the top Super Bowl-winning NFL quarterbacks, Peyton, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Eli Manning,  It’s the number area which Vick must improve.

So far I like the way this off season is going as far as Michael Vick is concerned.  He’s focused on football and getting better.

Nice article G. Congrats to Vick and his family. Sometimes you have to lose it all and suffer a setback in life to really learn to value and appreciate what you have. It happened to me and I’m most thankful to God for allowing me to learn from it. Again, congrats Vick; now lets go out there and bring a Sb home!

G I feel Vick will have a great season. If we make the right moves in free agency and the draft we will be Super Bowl contenders. We need an experienced linebacker and safety. We also should sign Plaxico Burres to get help in the Red Zone. in addition, lets get a power back to go with McCoy. If we make these moves I like our chances this upcoming season!!!!

This is a great article. To know that the leader of your football team is fiscally responsible speaks volumes to their discipline and dedication. In addition, what this shows is Vick’s resolve and determination. There’s allot for the Eagles to be excited about for next season. If they play FA and the draft just right the Eagles are SB bound in 2012. This team has much to prove and I think they will.

This is all well and good, but he was put under a court ordered payoff plan, so it wasn’t like he had much choice. And to call him fiscally responsible is kinda crazy in my mind as he got himself into 20 million + dollars in debt because of his criminal actions (not rehashing that). Glad he is out of debt, but I am not gonna praise him for it or say that this proves that he is a better leader/role model for the other Eagles.

LOL. Sure thing Lions. Vick is the epitome of `fiscally responsible`

He has been on a court ordered budget!!!

Vick`s wages have been garnìshed for the past 3 years.

They just took his $$. He was basically given an allowance to live.

Respnsible my ass…

Good job MV.

We are too quick to jump on these players for “doing the wrong things” or “puting themselves in bad situations”….MV has made his share of mistakes, paid the price and consequesnces and is working to make things right for his family and those he owes.

This is a good story and I believe that we should acknowledge the manner in which he has turned his life around.

I agree with everything you posted greenfan.

What’s really impressive is that Vick’s Bankruptcy plan was set up to pay off his creditors by 2014-15 but now he’ll be paying it off 2 to 3 years early. At the time of his bankruptcy he hadn’t even been given his new contract so he truly worked his way out of debt. Now he’ll play the majority of next season and the remainder of his contract without that hanging over his head and can concentrate on taking the Eagles to the SB.

What’s even more impressive is like many of the things he can do on the field, what he’s doing with his bankruptcy is very rare:

“But with Vick’s stunning success on the football field last year, and a bigger projected paycheck going forward, the Newport News native can accomplish a feat that might not be quite as rare as his football talents, but is rare still: Paying back all he owes.

“He has a very good chance to pay back all his creditors, which is extraordinary in bankruptcy cases,” said Paul K. Campsen, one of Vick’s bankruptcy attorneys, with the Norfolk office of Kaufman & Canoles. “That happens in only a very, very, very small percentage of cases.”

Less than 5 percent of those who declare bankruptcy, Campsen said, ever repay all their creditors. Under most bankruptcy payback plans, whatever is not paid to creditors within the agreed-to repayment schedule is typically written off.”

I like a leader who has gone through adversity, learned their lesson and shows contrition, and is now coming out on top because of hard work. All of this while making his dim witted detractors look more and more foolish with each comment.

Why is this article even being discussed. That’s his business. Who cares?

Because it is our “Right” as Fans to know if QB Vick is being responsible with his $100 Million Contract.. It’s the Fans money and interest that allowed the Eagles the opportunity to pay Mr VIck and now he answers to us, the fans..Now TE and media darling, Brett Celek, gets into an accident while celebrating his Birthday and riding with a Driver who faces DUI Charges, reckless Driving, etc, etc… but we don’t care about that for it’s none of our business.. but not Mike Vick, he is a different story, and always will be… We need to know what he’s doing at all times and what he’s doing with his $$$$ and where he’s going, who is he with…etc, etc… .

Been on Football Hiatus for a minute… I see vinnie is still as much of a Vick hater as ever. That 400k that’s like a mortgage note. I would pay that thing off as soon as the checks start flying this year. Then tell all the creditors to “kiss my bujmper”. Looking for a big year from 7 this year.

, I totally agree with you, just like I agree with Greefan. Really whose business is it, not mine that’s for sure (have enough to worry about with my own bills).

@bugshawk, you’re wrong he definitely had a choice, he could have easily kissed all of his debt off by filing chapter #7 (which is exactly what a lot of people do), however he didn’t he chose to take responsibility for them and get a court ordered payment plan to make sure his creditors were paid. Yes he is financially responsible, otherwise he would have taken the easy way out. No one is looking for any praise from you, so please don’t flatter yourself. Quit being a hater dude, fact is his finances are really no ones business but his own.

@Paulman, its none of your dam business what anyone does with their money. Is it your employers business what you do with your paycheck? Because you are a fan doesn’t give you the “special” right of knowing what a player does with their money. Do you know what Andy Reid, Maclin, or any of the other players are doing with their paychecks. Its none of your business……………..period.

@peace112- I love when you are called a hater for disagreeing with someone. This really doesn’t have any effect on whether or not I root for Vick and the Eagles. I just don’t think that the praise is warranted in this situation. Most people file for bankruptcy, because they don’t have the ability to pay off their debts in the way that Vick did.

As far as who’s business it is… you seem to be very interested in defending him if it is none of your business.

My argument is that this has nothing to do with the football field which seems to be what you are saying too if this is no of our business…period.

@bugshawk, Using the phrase “hater” in my comment wasn’t used literally. If you remember correctly Vick didn’t have the ability to pay either he was locked up without a job, as I said he could have chose to file chapter #7 and been done with it. I guess my thing is this everytime (it appears) that Vick does something positive people like to say he was court ordered to do it, as if he’s not making those choices himself but is court ordered. He was court ordered in this instance strictly by choice.

No I’m not interested really, didn’t even bother to read the article, just the comments, fact is I am still trying to figure out why Vick’s financial status is even newsworthy. We do agree this has nothing to do with football, which is why I don’t understand why its even written.

shelve this talk about Vick’s or any other dude’s cash, phillywill once reminded me of bhopkins calling out mayweather after he asked hop if he wanted to see his crib hopkins said, “what do you think I am your bitch”, in the classic prose of phillywill, “who cares what another dude get, got dont got”, bitch talk, as is this “hater”bs, fems

Just for the record fellas, I was being facetious with my above post for I have no interest and don’t beleive anyone else should either in what M Vick’s or any other player or person’s finances are like….
Re Mathis, He is a goner as I suspected he was, once the Eagles didn’t come to terms with him the 1st Day of Free-Agency.. No surprise here..

-Eagles did offer Dan Connor a deal but it was very low, no real interest there
-Trade rumor involving Asante Samuel and a 3rd-4th for NaVorro Bowman of 49ers

Schiller, No I am not a Republican, I am a registered Independant if you really need to know.. As far as Mathis, goes, I believe he will go for the biggest $$$ offered..If it’s the Eagles than great, but I think he will get a bigger deal offered by someone else whether its the Ravens,Redskins or whomever and it’s not typically the Eagles style to get into a bidding war with other team, they usually make an iffer which they feel is appropriate and then let the chips fall where they may, so hearing the Eagles making a counter-offer is surprising for me tand I hope it’s true for I would like to see them re-sign Mathis which I stated all Off-Season was an important piece in keeping continuity along the OL which hasn’t happened in a few years with the Eagles..

49ers re-signed C Rogers and Free-agent Paeerish Cox so I see very little interest in the 49ers going out and pursuing Samuel and especially for a LB Bowman who is just hitting his prime as a Player and probably a Perennial Pro-Bowler over the next few Season while Samuel is towards the back end of his career..
