Could Tim Tebow Be Aquired By The Eagles To Run The Wildcat?

Do you remember how Andy Reid brought Michael Vick to town to run the Wildcat as a backup to Donovan McNabb?  He would come in as a change up on certain downs.  It would force opposing defenses to utilize valuable time working on stopping Vick and the Wildcat.  It shows that Reid likes the idea of changing things up by bringing in a quarterback who runs the Wildcat.

Denver Bronco quarterback Tim Tebow is a big, physical athlete who could run the Wildcat as a back up to Vick.  I agree with what Adam Caplan of TheSideview.com said on Comcast Sportsnet, that the Eagles will probably call the Broncos about the availability of Tebow.

Tebow could not only run the Wildcat as a backup, but he could also dominate the sports news here in Philadelphia and keep fans focused on the Eagles.  It will probably come down to what the Broncos are asking for in exchange for Tebow.  The Birds aren’t going to give away the store in order to get him, but I think they will be interested.

I think Trent Edwards is going to be the backup because he has a much better arm than Mike Kafka.  Edwards is a very good athlete for a quarterback, who can tuck the ball under his arm and run, if the play breaks down.  He’s got great size and can make all the throws needed from an NFL quarterback.

Then why is he a back-up?

I dont want anything to do with Tim Tebow…keep him off the roster. All we need is one game were Mikes getting tagged and makes a bad throw and the Tebow lovers will wanna annoint him the starter. We dont need the distractions of the Messiah on our roster.

Keep the storyline as “Get to the p-offs”…simple and to the point. Not,Good vs. Evil…or Tebowmanis b.s..

HELL NO!!!!…..Why would we need this overhyped bum? John Elway isn’t stupid, thats why he wants to get rid of him. They could run schemes using his abilities as well, or use him as a back up to Peyton Manning, but they’re not. Elway knows he is limited as an NFL Quarterback. I think it’s blazingly obvious. HE IS A BUM!! We have so many other issues to deal with, we don’t need any wasted roster space. I don’t view playing over your head, or totally unnecessary media hype, as a reason to think more of a player, than reality reveals. Stay away from this bum. Let some other team deal with the media overexposure….Ridiculous. Can we have bring in some people that can actually play?

NO, NO, & NO! No Teblow & his antics. No to us getting this fraud. No to the stupid, useless, wildcat. Because it worked so wonderfully for Vick in his first year back, RIGHT! Wasted plays, time & energy. But it wouldn’t surprise me to see square peg in round hole Reid pull it off. It’s right up his alley, because he is smarter than the history of the NFL. The media just needs to stop with this dude & his over-hype. He is a fraud, & not a good QB.

If they give up more than a 6th round pick, Then Andy Reid, and Howie Roseman deserve to be fired……Just plain stupid…I’d rather have AJ Feeley, who I would have brought in before Trent Edwards, and damn sure before I think about Tim Tebow…This front office does some good things, but it’s the stupid things they do that make the difference between a SuperBowl contender, and an 8-8 team.

Not so far fetched if you think about it though..
He could play HB/FB (since the Eagles have no proven FB) and could be the 3rd TE and then also do some WIldcat PAckages and maybe even some Special Teams..
Can anyone envision Coach AR at the podium annoucing Tebow to Philly Media…
“The kid loves to play football, he’s a smart, tough kid who loves to compete and play the game”….
This is exactly the type of “Out of the Bbox” thinking that fits right up the alley for both Lurie & Banner and cash in on “Media Attention” and to help continue to grow the “Eagles Brand” though it actually does little to win you any Football Games .

Eagles Trade DE Darryl Tapp and a 6th Round PIck for Tebow..

Why “no” Rocco. If you are a Vick fan (and clearly you are), then this guy seems like the perfect backup to me. They are extremely similar.

Both were one read and run guys in college. Their first 2 years in the NFL are eerily similar (both got time mid way through 1st yr and became starters in their second year. Both were areound 50% first season and a half. TDs to INTs were 17/9 comapred to 19/11 after first season and a half…One ran for 12 tds and the other for 9 in their first season and a half, both innacurate with short game, but were effective throwing deep)

Both were critizized for the exact same things – not accurate, can’t read D, not real QBs etc etc)

The only real difference is that one is a quick shifty runner and the other is more of a bulldozer.

I find it strange that someone shuch as you would be so pro Vick and so anti Tebow, when, at the same stages of their careers, they were remarkably similar.

I do not want Tebow around here for the exact same reason I don’t want Vick here. I would prefer a traditional QB.

But if you are a rah rah Vick apologist, it makes absolutely no sense why you would not want Tebow here to back Vick up.

Tebow will be a major distraction to any team that brings him in and for that reason alone the eagles should not bring him in, they are building team chemstry, Tebow is a great person, very good football player, but the media, the fans, they will turn it into a circus, and the eagles will be back to square one or worse, Vick is the qb for better or worse, not Tebow

Somehow I knew this was coming Tebow to the Eagles. That is the last thing this team needs is another distraction, especially one that isn’t worth it. If Tebow was even close to being a qb the Broncos would keep him to develop behind Manning, they’re not keeping him and there is a reason for that.

, dude you need to release some of the hate you have for Vick, it really sounds like that hate goes beyond footbally. Vick is a good qb, there is no way Tebow is even close to being similar to Vick, I don’t see where Tebow is similar to any qb, quite frankly he shouldn’t even be in the NFL.

Agree that the media circus would be a distraction. That is the last thing this team needs after last year. To say Tebow is a bum is probably the most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard. He is not a good QB but the dude is a sick athlete and can be a good football player in the NFL; probably just not at the QB position.

I can hear the chants now at Lincoln Financial Field.. Tebow! Tebow! Tebow! Tebow!.. Bring this man to Philly.. I have already begun my campaign for the man to come here.. Hes a winner. Why wouldnt you want a winning QB here? Hes the type of player that does whatever it takes to win, he will run the wildcat, hed do it all..Let me ask you guys this, would you not rather have Tebow here over Mike Kafka? How bout over Trent Edwards? Cmon guys you cant tell me you wouldnt. Let him come here and battle it out with the guys here, perfect guy to come in and push Vick if you ask me, the other two mentioned will not push vick at all.. Heck Tebow may come here and outplay vick in camp, im just saying, anything can happen.. This is a great story to mull around and discuss because in actuality its a possiblity that Andy and Marty could be licking there chops to get there hands on this QB.. Also consider that Tebow is Left handed just like Vick so the OLine wouldnt have to make many adjustments to there blocking schemes and where they flow.. ive given this alot of thought even last year while Tebow went on his run and i wanted him here… Im not trying to cast Vick to the side but i want a winner behind center that isnt fragile and one that has the durability to last all year long and the heart to lead us.. This guy may be the best vocal leader at QB in NFL history, he could motivate a man in a wheelchair to walk, this guy has high positive character that any team would covet.. I would make the deal if i was the Eagles, or at least look into it and as i reported they will..

I would love to have Tebow on the team as a TE/FB. I think everything about him would be good. Vick knows Tebow is not a threat to start.

BUT, I do not want the Eagles to sign him because this is the type of project Reid loves to do to prove how smart he is. The goal is Super Bowls, not to takes greta athletes and make them sercable quarterbacks!! This is the kind of distraction that the coaching staff has to avoid. Focus on the rings, not selling Tebow jerseys that I would probably buy.

I usually enjoy gcobbs articles but this one is just plain stupid. If you want to run the wildcat why not just use vick since your’e paying him alot of money anyway. Also if vick plays like he did last year the fans will be calling for tebow to start as they will remember how he defeated the steelers in the playoffs last year. And all the nonsense about how great trent edwards is is funny. He did not even play at all last year and has a career qb rating of 75.He could not even keep the starting qb job in buffalo. He still might be better than kafka though because kafka has a weak arm.Kafka is another bad eagles draft pick.

“Vick is a good qb, there is no way Tebow is even close to being similar to Vick, I don’t see where Tebow is similar to any qb, quite frankly he shouldn’t even be in the NFL.”

That’s a stupid statement that doesn’t make any sense. Tebow is not an NFL QB, but Vick is good? How is he “not even close to being similar to VIck”, when his stats were basically the EXACT SAME as Vick over their first 2 years.

Go ahead and yap all you want Rasheed about my “hate” or whatever. I’m only making this point:

If you like Vick (and I don’t) then it absolutely makes no sense why you wouldn’t also want Tebow, as he is basically just a younger version of Vick….except that he’s nice of course.

If the Eagles’ brass is as set on Vick as they like to say they are, then bringing Tebow in here makes sense.

Denver and Peyton Manning reach an agreement on a 5yr 96m’s Contract.

My Thoughts: I didnt think it was possible for a 35/36 yr old could get a another monsterous contract, But this proves my point i made about QBs, there is a huge value on quality/great QBs.. teams covet them.. The broncos see that they made it to the first round of the playoffs and beat the Steelers who are a very tough out in the playoffs.. they were a great QB away from being an elite team, they still have time to add guys to the roster but they are on there way to a 10-13 win season and a tough out in the playoffs…

I don’t like the man from afar, but it’s definitely worth investigating. If the price is right (5th rounder) I’d take a flyer. You know it’s funny that if this was about Jeff Garcia most people on here would be all about it. When it’s about Tebow everybody is a hater. The guy works his but off and still get hated on because of all the good he does off the field. It the media’s fault not his. Don’t you think he would rather not be talked about for helping people or answering their wishes? Now truthfully he needs work, but what QB doesn’t? Even Tom Brady admits he has work to do when he has a down game (that’s not that often). Tebow is a hard worker who fits the mold of a hard working player for the “Hard Working Town”, I don’t think that can be used to describe Philadelphia anymore. Why wouldn’t you want this guy to be a backup to Vick? Its just stupid to hate on this young guy. I see all this hating because of jealously! This is a guy with high moral fiber and is a professional athlete. Something that is “Very RARE” these days.Get off the hate train! This should be about the eagles improving the team anyway they can, he would provide a major improvement over Kafkia.

Someone claims on rumor central, the Eagles are looking into trading for Bart Scott. While he is a good MLB, I don’t believe he has played in a 4-3 before and he is close to 32 or so years old. Why wouldn’t they sign a guy who is used to running the wide. I’m so lost with Andy’s decision making. LB was such a weak part of our D. It’s not like we didn’t get any pressure on the QB. Why won’t they just upgrade? I like some of these younger kids but when they are ready in 3 to 4 years, most of these other guys will be gone. Our window is 2012 to 2013. Maybe…MAYBE 2014. I really am fed up with this organization. They are doing the right thing by extending our really good players. But c’mon man. We need 2 LB’s at the very least a consistent, helmet smacking, angry MLB to lead this Charmin tp defense.

The most logical place for him to play would be Jacksonville, or Miami. He already said he would like to return home to play in FLA. Highly doubtful that the Packers would be interested, but stranger things have happened! I think the only reason he’s linked to the Patriots is because of McDaniels. Although Bill does like to take players from the UF.

and Rocko… What’s up fellas, hope you’re as excited for the next season as I am. Vick 3.0 will be on full display. He’s been at the Nova care complex almost every day DJax is signed, Maclin is healthy and the line has a full year together and under Howard Mudd’s system. It’s going to be an exciting year.

I knew this article would have the Giant’s fan’s (Including their incessant supporter an lead Vick hater) out in droves… This is a funny article and I am glad it was written because I really needed a good laugh. I like Tebow and based on how the media presents him he is a bright spot for the league because of his faith and his humanitarianism. I have nothing bad to say about him and hope he does well. That being said you can quote me as saying that he won’t even see the inside of the NovaCare Complex.

But Eagles Fans (the real ones not the ones trying to undermine our teams leadership) pay attention to the comments of those who argue passionately for Tebow to come here and why they want him here. You will see a trend that tells you exactly who you are dealing with. Once you see it you’ll realize that they’re not worth listening to. And then there are those who want to make statistical comparisons between Vick and Tebow (the ones who don’t want you to believe what you’ve witnessed with your eyes but what they post on this site). These are the same guys that would gladly pee on your head and tell you it’s raining. Don’t argue with these guys because hate (to which they always admit they have) clouds their judgement.

@Rasheed1… your right on all counts, but if I were you I wouldn’t waste my time. You will never get a giants fan to support the Eagles. Remember what Andy Reid said ” We’re obviously happy with Michael…you can ask anyone around the league except the Giants right.”

Btw lionscub, I do not want Tebow here so keep your not very subtle “they like Tebow and not Vick because you know why….” BS to yourself.

They are both flawed QBs. Both easily figured out by D-co-ordinators. Both innacurate. One likes turnovers more than the other (guess who).

Again, sorry for “undermining the team’s leadership” (paranoid much?) for pointing out that Vick is a POS quarterback. Get over it already.

Go on back home and curl up under your Vick 3.0 poster and visualize your fantasy superheor dodging the entire Broncos squad before diving into the endzonefor the last min Victory in next year’s SB. Try to contain your wood as you see Vick 3.67 rise from the ground poounding his fist into his chest, perma-scowl snarling for all to see. When the vision fades, grab yourself the kleenix down from your bedstand and get those sheets to the washer before mommy finds out.

Then hope to dream under the poster again tomorrow, because you’re not going to be seeing that in real life.

March 20, 2012 3:23 pm

@RealTalk777… Yeah, I’m with you regarding the defensive side of the ball. I think with the right MLB and another year under their belt, this defense could be a scoring defense. We’ve got two premier DE’s and a Premier DT to put allot of pressure on the ball and two of the best corners in the league which is a recipe for turnovers. I’m almost as excited to see the defense next year as I am the offense. I think this whole team is very hungry and can sense the opportunity they will have next season. I still hope we get Plax though.

Yeah I agree that the bandwagon will be full of fake fans if things come together like I think they will next season… and if Vick plays like we know he is capable then you can expect to hear the simultaneous pops of the heads of all of the haters… especially those on this site (they hate so passionately). But I don’t let them distract me. Btw do you ever notice that whenever I mention the Giants fans on this site that one particular little person always starts talking smack??? It’s the funniest thing I mean I can hear this dude yappin’ with this high pitched voice and male pattern baldness angry because he’s of below height for a man… But Giants fans tend to be angry little people.

@Rocko… Training camp is key as well as OTA’s and the knowledge that you will be the starter for the next season. Not only that, but knowing that you’ll have all of your receivers on day one goes a long way. I think this offense is going to be very potent and fluid next season.
