Eagles Will Workout Highly Rated LB, Jarvis Jones

JarvisJones2Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones was a can’t miss top ten selection at the beginning of this year’s draft period.  After this year’s college football season, Jones was considered by many to be the best defensive player in the SEC, which is roundly considered the best football conference in college football.

He was a beast a year ago. He was unblockable.  The young man was flew around the corner for 14.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles.  He was not only making plays versus the passing game, but he was just as devastating against the running game with 24 tackles for a loss.

Despite the stellar performance, Jones had a clunker of a Pro Day last week.  He ran a 4.9 and a 4.95 in the forty yard dash, which are unacceptable for a linebacker.  He was expected to run a 4.5, 4.6 or at worse a 4.7.  It has created doubts about Jones to many of the franchises who were there for his Pro Day.

The Eagles who have the fourth pick in the first round will put him through a private workout, as well they should.  They’ve got to take a close look at the young man and see whether he can get the job done.  There are also some questions about Jones’ health because of a

No, & NO!!!! High injury concern & lazy. Didn’t do anything at the combine, & didn’t even give any effort, to prepare himself, for his Pro-day! No thanks! Another high risk mutt, with “Bust” written all over him! Also, I’m sick & tired of hearing him being compared to Von Miller & Demarcus Ware! GTFO, & give iT A REST! hE COULDN’T CLEAN EITHER OF THEIR JOCKS!

I guess that is why he skipped the combine. Melvin Ingram slipped last year off better workout numbers than Jarvis.

Ingram had a so-so Rookie Season at best for the Chargers..another Tweener
who is not very good in pass-coverages, not big or strong enough to hold the line at the point of attack against OT/TE blocking of the NFL which sounds a lot like the Current Eagles DE/OLB’s (outside of Connor Barwin)

Jones is going to be a player at the NFL level. somewhere I saw he ran a 4.7 not a 4.9…If all works out and spinal stenosis isn’t a concern he’ll be drafted first round..But he is not the player I’d use my 4th pick on…

The guy has talent, and has produced at a very high level when on the field. I don’t give a rats ass about the combine. I always believed a player should be judged by what he does on the field. His injuries are what i’m more concerned with.

I would trade down from the #4 Selection for an additional 2nd Round Pick
but if they are unable or unwilling to do so.. then I believe it comes down to these Picks in the first 3 Rounds, barring no trades, in the following 4 Scenario’s

Scenario A
#4 Selection – DE/OLB Dion Jordan (Oregon 6-6 248lbs)
#35 Selection – OL Justin Pugh (Syracuse 6-5 307lbs)
#66 Selection – CB Darius Slay (MIss State 6-0 192lbs)

Scenario B
#4 Selection – OT Eric Fisher (Central Michigan 6-7 306lbs)
#35 Selection – DT Jesse Williams (Alabama 6-4 325lbs)
#66 Selection – OLB Jaime Colins (Southern Miss 6-4 250lbs)

Scenario C
#4th Selection – DT Star Lotuleile (Utah 6-3 311lbs)
#35 Selection – OLB Alec Ogletree (Georgia 6-3 245lbs)
#66 Selection – Guard Larry Warford (Kentucky 6-3 322lbs)

Scenario D
#4th Selection – CB Dee Milliner (Alabama 6-200lbs)
#35 Selection – DE Cornellius Carradine (Florida State 6-4 276lbs)
#66 Selection – OT Dallas Thomas (Tennessee 6-5 306lbs)

DE Conreliius Carradine may be the best All-Around DL in this Drafat,
he sustained an injury late in the Season as has missed all the Post-Season hoopla, but this kid is a Player and has the size, speed, athleticis, and strength to be a very effective DE in a 3-4 or a 4-3.. He will go early in the 2nd Round and a Player we will hear/read about for years to come..

He’s too small, to be a 3-4 DE, & isn’t a 4-3 ROLB. He’s perfectly suited for a 4-3 DE, not a 3-4.

I would rather have a mike mamula type who was an combine monster.

We Eagles fan all so well how our type combine guys translates to all pros as well as multiple Superbowls.

We were told how awful Burfict’s combine was last year this time and he end up being better than every linebacker on our team including the 2nd round Kendricks who had a very good combine, so I could give a rat’s ass about whether he ran a 4.9.

What kind of player is he between the whistle?

Ifhe forces fumbles and put fear in QB’s then bring him here…our defense is filled with combine champs yet game day chumps.

Jarvis Jones MUST be the pick at #4. He is a god amongst men and I would like nothing more than to see him in Eagles green.

Those who criticize him just didn’t watch him. That’s all there is to it.

He was targeted and exposed as a liability to a power running game. His value decreases if a NFL team is behind and increases if ahead.

Please. He was the best defensive player in the best conference. That’s all that needs to be said.

It’s a passing league in the NFL EOSB
there’s about 3-4 Teams left with a Power Running Game (49ers,Steelers,Vikings & Texans) the Rest are all Pass-Happy Teams
It’s about Getting after the QB and Protecting the QB which Teams place their Highest Values on anymore so that’s the DE’s, Pass Rushing OLB’s and OT Positions..
