Fantasy Football Week 5: Start/Sit

MichaelVick1The New Fantasy Football Trend

Random Thoughts…….Running backs sure aren’t what they use to be in terms of availability and weekly production.    You knew this, that’s why you were going to address this with drafting two running backs in the first three rounds.  There were the veterans who always finished in the top 12 with names like Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson and Ray Rice.  There were those promising second year players who had solid rookie campaigns in Doug Martin, Trent Richardson and Alfred Morris.  There were players ready to take advantage of being named the starter this year with guys like CJ Spiller and David Wilson.  Even guys who would be a solid RB 2 like Ivory and Miller have been a disappointment.  Only a few big name backs are producing like the ADP they were selected said they would.  Tight-ends are putting up top 10 receiver statistics.  The NFL is a passing league, and fantasy football is really starting to reflect that.

Week 5 Bounce Backs

Desean Jackson- D-Jax will enjoy the back and forth offensive battle versus the NYG, as neither team has players in the secondary to shut down the speed of opposing wide-receivers.

Marques Colston- The Bears struggle with the bigger wide-receivers in the league.  Look for Colston who has had a slow start so far to the season to walk away with his biggest game to date.

Brian Hartline-A very hot and cold wide-receiver to trust in your starting line-up.  The Ravens defense will focus on not getting beat with the deep threat speed of Mike Wallace.  This will allow the middle of the field to be there for the take for one Mr. Hartline.

First TD of the Year “Guarantee”

Keenan Allen– Allen has flirted with the end-zone a few times this season.  Look for him to find pay-dirt versus a poor Raiders secondary.

Michael Floyd– Fitzgerald is going to play through his injury for the season.  This is preventing his abaility to stretch the field for the deep pass.  Without a running game, the Cardinals are going to have to take advantage of the Panthers secondary to have any chance of winning this game.

Zach Ertz– The Eagles are going to get Ertz on the field more, with Celek and Cooper showing the inability to be legitimate threats as that physical receiver.

Lamar Miller (reception TD)- The Dolphins return home after their MNF loss to the Saints.  The Ravens and Dolphins will forget about defense in this match-up, after the two QB’s combined for 8 interceptions in week 4.

Top 5 Finishers for the Weeks

QB– Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Vick, Brees, Ryan

RB– McCoy, Lynch, Bernard, Forte, Miller

WR– Julio Jones, Welker, Nelson, Cruz, Desean Jackson

TE– Graham, Cook, Witten, Gates, Clay

Jeff Kolsky
