As Expected Chip Kelly Doesn’t Name A Starter For Sunday

ChipKelly1As I suspected Chip Kelly was noncommittal about who was going to be the team’s starting quarterback on Sunday afternoon against the Dallas Cowboys.

“I don’t know, until those guys get here and start running around a little bit tomorrow… Depends on where we are from a health standpoint.

“Until we know what the health is, I’m not saying what anybody is. All our decisions on who’s going to play is based on health. I haven’t talked to anybody about any of that stuff.”

“All of our decisions are made on what’s going to give us the best chance to win. I don’t see any divisions, or one side going way or one side going another way. Mike wasn’t available on Sunday, and Nick did an outstanding job. Mike’s legs are a big important part of his game. How does he run around, how is he in practice can execute the way we need him to execute.”

Kelly did praise the play of Foles.

“I think in this league to be successful you better have depth,” said Kelly. “I think it showed at our quarterback spot. It was very evident. I know a lot of people when your number one quarterback goes down there is a big dropoff, and there wasn’t a dropoff at all.”

Personally, I think Nick Foles is going to be the starter on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.  Right now he’s got the hot hand and if the Birds want to keep Vick sidelined another week, they have his hamstring to blame.

Truth of the matter is that hamstrings are the kind of injury which you have a choice about when to come back.  You can keep a guy on the shelf for an extra week or two to be sure.  I think Vick will kept on the shelf for another week to be sure, so that when he does come back he’ll be able to return at full speed and push that hamstring without having a problem.

The fact that Foles has been playing great, gives Kelly and his staff the freedom to ride the momentum while taking their time and being safet with Vick.

Kelly singled out Fletcher Cox and said he probably played his best game this season.  I agree with him.  Cox played the way he’s capable of playing.  He was attacking at the snap of the ball and he was relentless.  They’re going to need him to play like that for rest of the season.  Cox refused to be beaten yesterday.

Bradley Fletcher, who picked his first pass of the season, played very well yesterday at his cornerback position.

No big news…Kelly doesn’t have to make or ANNOUNCE any decisions today…Keep the Cowboys guessing.

BTW, isn’t Monte Kiffin the Dallas ‘D’ coach?…Was head coach or assistant head coach at USC past 3 years?…If I have my figures correct, I believe Oregon scored over 140 points against USC in the last 3 games they played, 2010-12.

Of course, the Cowboys have a much better defense than USC.

Still, something to think about.

Monte Kiffin is the DC of the Cowboys and was the DC at USC for his Son (Lance Kiffin who finally got fired las tweek and keeps commenting that he’s in shock 3 weeks later..what an ass)
USC never Beat Oregon head to head whicle the Kiffins were in Los Angeles..
In fact, Chip Kelly abused and embarrased them pretty bad the last 2-3 contest’s ..

Cowboys Strength is at LB and CB Brandon Carr who is having an All_Pro Season so far… Clairborne can be abused and their Safeties (Church & Wilcox are no better than the Eagles to be honest)
The Cowboys DL will be Missing Ware, and of course both SPencer and Ratliff are injured and out for the Season.. Watch for the very Active DT Jason Hunter nad DE George Selvie and their main Pass-Rushers
LB Sean Lee is having a very good year and has become the Leaders of their Defense (Cowboys got him with a 2nd Round Pick on a Draft Day Trade with the agles back in 2010 in another Stupid Trade Down Move by the Eagle to amass more 4th & 5th Round Picks)

Kelly did not budge on his ambiguity at the QB position throughout, stating that it would be impossible to decide until he saw if Vick was healthy enough to go.

Based on that comment, it seems that Nick Foles’ stellar performance Sunday was not enough to earn him the starting job this coming Sunday against the Cowboys.

Brian Westbrook and Ray Didinger broke down the Tampa film and said Greg Shiano should be today. Tampa is the 1 st team to play zone vs a group of WR in the Eagles who cant beat man. Every other team has played man vs Cooper and he couldnt get open. But Tampa decided that cover 2 would be more effective lol.
