Thoughts From Eagles-Cowboys

mccoydallasDominating Performance

The Eagles thoroughly embarrassed the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving night with a 33-10 dismantling of their division rival.

The team played a complete game with all three phases contributing strongly to the victory.

Mark Sanchez and the offense got things rolling by scoring touchdowns on the team’s first two drives. Sanchez took the team 80 yards on the first drive, and 88 yards on the second, moving the ball quickly and efficiently, taking no more than three minutes to get the ball down the field and in the endzone.

LeSean McCoy and the running game were in top form, as McCoy put together his best performance of the season with 25 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown. McCoy ripped off multiple runs of 30 yards or more. He’s beginning to regain confidence in himself as well as the offensive line.

The Eagles’ defense did a great job holding the explosive Dallas offense in check.

The front seven did a tremendous job against an offensive line that had been a huge reason for the Cowboy’s success. They sacked Tony Romo four times, and forced him into two interceptions. DeMarco Murray put together a decent yardage total with 73, but he wasn’t the dominating factor that he normally is week to week. To hold this offense to just 10 points in a game with these implications was a great step for this unit.

Quick Thoughts

Offense

  • I guess we can stop the talk about LeSean McCoy losing a step?
  • Jeremy Maclin caught eight passes for 108 yards, putting him over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career.
  • Jordan Matthews caught four passes for 51 yards and a touchdown.
  • Chris Polk took 11 carries for 49 yards.
  • No catches for Zach Ertz.
  • Riley Cooper made a couple of tough catches for first downs, catching four passes for 32 yards.
  • Mark Sanchez also took seven carries for 28 yards and a touchdown.

Defense

  • Fletcher Cox played another great game with four tackles and a sack.
  • Mychal Kendricks led the team with seven tackles.
  • Cary Williams and Nate Allen each picked up their second interceptions of the season.
  • Allen also recovered a fumble.
  • No sign of Marcus Smith, once again.
  • Dez Bryant came down with a 38-yard reception, but was held in check other than that.

Special Teams

  • Cody Parkey drilled all four of his field goal attempts.

Final Thoughts

This was a game that Eagles had to have for a lot of reasons.

Not just so much because it was the Dallas Cowboys in a game for first place in the division before a national audience, but because this team needed to prove that they could come out and have success against a good team with a record above .500. They passed their test with flying colors last night, and now sit alone at the top of the NFC East.

Its great to see LeSean McCoy become a focal point of this offense again. For this offense to work, they’ve got to be able to run the ball well. The team can’t ask their quarterbacks to do too much, and it makes such a difference to have their star running back operating at prime efficiency.

We all witnessed an A game vs a quality opponent We have to laud the ..coaches ..who had this team totally focused on the importance of this clash..The coaching disparity on all 3 sides of the ball (special teams ,offense and Bill Davis defense was remarkable.)The O line was creating gaps and shady was exploiting them …the qb play was excellent ..in control and operating within the framework of the offense..all the focus of eagle nation will be on the Green Bay game vs the Pats ..I feel GB defense is vulnerable…Az travels to Atlanta …San Fran was put down handily ,and I’d expect that situation to unravel..as the coach looks towards Michigan..Seattle is next up..for now ..let’s all bathe in the national media who flip flop more than a chimp at Boone zoo…it’s so great to beat Dallas on thanksgiving day …even the relatives were tolerable…

Right here RR,
I stated in the Pregame Post that I had a real good feel
For the a Eagles vs Cowboy Game
And that we could very well see their Best
Overall Performance on both sides of the Ball as well as Special Teams
And called for a 38-20 Victory . They Played even better
Than I even expected for 60 Minutes so hard off to
The Entire Team & Coach’s…
I think we learned a few things from Yesterday’s
Dominating Game
1) The Eagles are on a roll, feeling it and the OL
Is really beginning to jell as this group of 5 Starter’s
Have played a few weeks together
2) When McCoy gets going, the rest of the Offense
Is very difficult to Stop
3) The Eagles can Win with Sanchez or Foles if they
Play smart, get the ball out and eliminate TO’s
(Or at least minimize them)
4) The Secondary played their Best Game as a Unit
Yesterday and when they get consistent Pressure,
Harassment and swarm to the Ball, then they are pretty good Defense
5) Special Teams from the Return Game, Coverage Units
To the Kicker & Punter give the Eagles a chance in every Game
And are probably the Best ST collectively in the NFL

The Eagles have Great Chemistry right now
(Minus the good ball that is Riley Cooper)
They also are one of the Healthiest Teams coming down the Stretch
Which is critical for a Playoff Run

So yeah, who isn’t stoked on how they have rebounded
After the flat spanking they took from the Packers couple
Weeks back..

6) We also saw that the Cowboys are not as good as everybody thought
Eagles exposed their a Defense, Romo had no legs on a short week
And is going to have issues coming down the stretch
The Cowboys OL got manhandled by the fresher, Hungrier,
And unrelenting Eagles Front 7

Now it’s time to heal up, put this Game
In the Bank and prepare for the Seahawks
Who are also playing their Best Ball of the Season
Which should make for a great, hard hitting & very
Close Football Game in which a mistake, big return,
Block or play made down the field will likely Win it
and Right now I like the Eagles chances..
Eagles contain M Lynch, slow down their sneaky TE’s, who make most of their big plays in the passing game as opposed to their WR’s
Eagles put up 20-24 Pts, they will Win over Seahawks

I said it before, Shady is the best player on this team and if this line is rumbling come playoff time that will be huge.

I highly doubt Foles starts a playoff game if he doesn’t get 1-2 games under his belt before the season ends.

Running game needs to be awesome in order for Sanchez to be effective.

Izzell…5 pass attempts in the second half by sanchez…what a great formula for domination..as much as shady appeared inadequate behind that make shift line ..and now..pro bowl worthy …it’s not a reach to say foles (I’m not beating his drum songs or Kool) I’m just making a point..with that same line and no shady did pretty remarkable job….as has mark sanchez..the boy George culture club is humming and singing it’s ass off ..

i dont blame chip for not trusting sanchez…hes absolutely horrible when just dropping back to throw. hes pretty good off play action tho. he was pretty good off play action with the jets too. only thing i really like about him. i must say though im a big foles fan but sanchez and his athleticism is showing the potential of how great this offense can be that foles just cant do. obviously we can win with foles and the way he plays but having a athletic qb that can make the reads would make this offense so hard to defend. you could do so much

Bfdaking…that quarterback you’re describing takes snaps for the hawks..I do think chip and pete Carroll ,both have that same affinity for an athletic nimble qb…the ingredients for absolute success in both offenses is to take care of the football…be decisive and create tempo..being Seattle has practiced against Wilson ,I see them having an advantage ..also Carroll and Kelly have a past history ..this game will be very interesting on many levels ..I don’t think chip doesn’t trust mark sanchez ,he’s a football coach who understands history ,matters ..that said ..this is a different system ,played at a different pace …Seattle will be more readied for it..so I see this game being won on physicality of both teams trying to establish there run game..whoever is more efficient wins ..they need beat the champs to be the champs ..they control there destiny ..now they have to execute ..

We are going to play to our strength! The best player on the team is clearly Shady McCoy! We are going to run the ball and Sanchez does not have to be perfect. He is 3-1 and all he has to do is run the offense, hit wide open receivers, have games like he had against Carolina and Dallas-avoid turnovers-and cruise us into the playoffs.
He does that and Foles agent will be calling the Eagles asking for them to trade him or cut him. Makes no sense for Foles to stick around as a lame-duck backup QB…

Koolbreeze, wasn’t you bitching about Foles just hitting wide open receivers and not making the tough throws through tight windows?…Yes you were. Now you are stating that that’s all Sanchez has to do (hit wide open receivers). I agree with you, but once again, you reveal your double standard hypocrisy and agenda. All Sanchez has to do is run the offense, with Foles it’s, awww he can’t run, he’s slow and not mobile, which is true, however, his record is still a winning record, just as you take comfort in Sanchez’s 3-1 record.

Eaglehaslanded…stop it. Foles was terrible. Thank God for our defense and special teams this year that bailed us out when Foles stunk. When I talked about Foles not making tough throws through tight windows, I was talking in reference to you and others crowing about Foles being a franchise QB.
I’m very consistent unlike you and others with the Foles agenda!
I’ve made it clear…Foles is NOT a franchise QB, Sanchez is NOT a franchise QB.
Sanchez, however, is head and shoulders over Foles! He has been more accurate, a higher completion percentage, making the good throws, mobile, and steady in the pocket. Sanchez hasn’t made those throws where you are asking…’wtf is he doing”….like Foles was.
There is nothing to even consider…Foles should not get a long term contract extension. No way for that. And since we are not giving him the big bucks…Foles should want an opportunity to get a long term deal instead of playing here as a lame duck and risk getting injured again with no deal in place.
Give Foles a break…he’s a nice kid…just cut him and give him a shot to maybe back up somewhere else. Who knows maybe some sucker will give him a shot to start and throw a few bucks his way based off of last year.
But its time to move on…Sanchez is the QB here. His 3-1 record is not based on special teams and the defense saving the day for us to get the win….its based on his mostly good play, sound decisions, accurate passing and mobility. He’s not scared, throwing off of his back foot…nervous in the pocket. He is getting his rhymth…the receivers are adjusting to him….we are not going to throw the offense off by putting a rusty, poor playing Foles back in…so…lets stop and enjoy the ride with Sanchez.
The new QB of the Philadelphia Eagles is Mark Sanchez and he’s earned the job to lead the team into the playoffs.

Kool, So, if we were in better shape with Manziel on the team than Smith, the Eagles would be 10-2 or 11-1 right? That is the only way to measure your statement.
I am still waiting for you to break it down to me how Tahj Boyd or Manziel would excel in chips offense. You still offer no proof or analysis to back your statement up. That’s why your name is really Hot Air. You blasted the Brandon Graham pick too. Now he is ballin. I’m on record for supporting him. I still think Marcus Smith will be a player given what I have seen of him in college. I did not have an idea the Eagles would draft him in the first or at all. Nor was he on my draft list, but I believe he has the athleticism to play. he has to get his mind straight and understand the position. Yes, Manziel, who could not even beat out Hoyer.

I hear you deserteagle, in order for Chip to be interested at all he would have to be flat out released. I do find it funny that we talk about reading defenses when it comes to RG3 but fail to acknowledge that Foles struggles this year is because he hasn’t been reading defenses well at all. Teams have been zoning him and he struggles when he has to make the reads.

Other thing many outside of D.C don’t understand….HE DOES NOT VIEW HIMSELF AS A RUNNING QB.

He is very much like McNabb, he wants to be viewed as a pocket passer and he does not want to be in a pure read option offense. In the Vikings game on 4th down he had option to run and easily pickup a first down instead he scrambled to throw a worm burner.

He won’t be available until the Skins are guaranteed a shot at Winston or Marriota.

If RG3 became available and I could get him, I take a shot. I am not offering him a big contract and declaring him a starter, I am attempting to see if I could get him to reach and fulfill his potential. His physical gifts are worth the challenge. If he is not open to coaching, then see ya. It’s risk vs. reward. Simply business. The payoff may be outstanding. Stop with the can’t read defenses, I watch Andrew Luck make a living off of garbage teams, and struggle against superior teams, is he not able to read a defense. They both came into the league together. Luck is under a better organization and hasn’t missed time due to injury and had the offensive system changed. Patience! Same thing I keep saying with Marcus Smith II..patience!

Dude having Luck and Bob in the same sentence in comparison to reading defenses is ridiculous. I live here in DC you’re doing what most do that think of him…go back to his rookie year. He is so far removed from that year in style of play and regression it’s downright comical and sad. This is a kid who gets caught on the edges by DEs. His explosion is gone. If it can come back who knows…but most fans don’t realize that he shredded the same knee in college and totally shredded it AGAIN.

Here’s something to ponder….

I’ve been looking at the NFC remaining schedules and I see something that would be to our favor….. Home Field Advantage! I see the Eagles finishing 12-4 maybe even 13-3. I live in Dallas and was at the game. I have seen the Andy Reid Championship teams and this team has way more of that moxy then most of thoses teams had. I saw that the defense is actually really but do get exposed due to the time they are on the field because of the way we run our offense. Dallas had no answer and on the first drive the Eagles sucked the air out of the stadium and out of the Cowboys. I see them doing this to the Seahawks next week. The Eagels use every inch of the field and that makes it very difficult for any defense to handle. I think the Green Bay was a fluke and should not happen again. Here’s my prediction…

Eagles 13-3 1st
Packers 12-4 maybe 11-5
Seahawks 10-6
Saints 7-9
Wildcards
Lions 11-5
San Fran

I don’t know why but this is what I see happening. I don’t see a winnable game for the cards at this point except for the Falcons. Other then that game it’s brutal down the stretch for them. Cowboys won’t beat the skins or the Eagles so that puts them out. What are your thoughts? Am I crazy?

WR Samie Coats from Auburn has 4.3 Speed and goes about
6-2″ or 6-3″ and could still be on the Board
In the 2nd Round…
I see Alabama’s Cooper a Top 10 Pick
and plays similar to Julio Jones..
Maybe not as quick as Jones..but can leap, huge catching radius
And a good runner after the catch..

Don’t forget about Louisville’s WR DaVante Parker
Who had 6 Receptions for 180 Yards and 3 TD’s
The guy is a TD Machine with about 8-9 this Year and
900 Yards with a 1st Year QB at Louisville
6-3″- 215lbs.. And reminds me of a quicker
Jordan Matthews…
Put out a 3 WR Set of Maclin,Matthews & Parker
Wow..Secondaries would scramble trying to
Cover these 3..

Sammie Coates is a stud. I talked about him last year as he lit up Alabama. He is just getting healthy from a knee injury which hampered his production. He is 6’2″ listed as 201. I believe he is bigger than that weight wise. He does legitimately run a 4.3 and is an excellent blocker. If the Eagles do not see a defensive player they feel has a first round grade at the end of the first when they draft, and Sammie is there. The Eagles will take him. His combine will raise his stock though.

Sources have the Tenn Tians Offering their Top Pick
(Which at 2-10) would be a Top #5 Pick
And Starting RT Michael Oher for RG3
Redskins would then have 2 high 1st Round
Picks… And Titans HC Wisenhut would have a QB
To work with…
A good Deal for both Clubs…

Exactly HAC,
Titans new Owner ( the old man’s Son) wants to bring some excitement back to Nashville and they Drafted OT Llewan to go along with O
M Roos and M Oher so they have depth at OT in which the Redskins are in dire need to have a RT

Michael Oher has no trade value. The Ravens fans were happy when he left Baltimore and the fans in Tenn are already calling him a bust. All hype from the movie, but hasn’t produced on the field.

Who h is why the Titans want to move him,
The key piece is a Top #5 Pick for the Redskins to
Get their QB of the Future, OT Oher is simply a throw in and
Who is still better at RT than anyone the Redskins have on their Roster?

The Story listed the Raiders & Jers in Willing to give up
draft Picks to Get Harbaugh..
Problem is that it’s very unlikely that Harbaugh
Is interested in these 2 very Dysfunctionable Organizations
With unstable Front Offices and quirky Ownership
If Harbaugh would stay in the NFL it would be a Team where he has complete Authority which at University of Michigan,
He would have that.. But who knows,
Big $$$ Talks and Michigan has Plenty of it as
Do most NFL Teams..

Some other college players I watched and was intrigued by this week was:

James Vaughters OLB/ILB 6’2″ 254- Reminds me of Jeremiah Trotter 3rd
/4th round.

Tony Lippett WR/CB Mich. State. 6’3″ 190. He originally played corner, switched to WR, now he is playing both positions. He looked rather smooth and comfortable at CB. Might be a steal in the 4th round. He can catch, understands coverage and has good ball awareness. I would draft him and primarily try him at CB, let him play a little WR in red zone. Chip values players with diverse skill sets.

Lippert is a very good Athelete and can also
Contribute on Special Teams…

What School is LB Vaughters playing for?

Eagles need to add 1-2 ILB this Off-Season
And develop some young Talent in Secondary

They added Heavy at DL and are young there
They also have some young quality OL in
LJ,Kelce,Tobin,Gardner,Molk but need to
Add a Young OT to groom for Peters and another Swing
Center/Guard and add another WR or 2 to
Upgrade from Brad Smith/Jeff Maehl

Vaughters plays for Stanford. I was watching them to look at CB Alex Carter. I kept seeing this # 9 flashing and making plays, pressures, hurries, tackling with authority and a sack. He honestly reminds me of Trotter. If we can’t get Eric Kendricks, want this kid.
Lippett would be a solid pick up.

Koolbreeze…did you see Johnny Manziel come in for mop up duty….and you wanted the Eagles to draft him, not just draft him, but in the first. You said he has “IT”…lmao…lol…lol. He tried to run first possession in game, got caught from behind by DT and flipped ball out to rb. Second play he rifles (using term loosely) to TE off target. 3rd down he signals for snap, then loses it, picks it up and has no idea what to do. He gets splattered, fumbles the ball and the bills recovers it and takes it in for a TD. He has no idea of how to play QB, but according to you, he has “IT”!!! LMAO @ you. LOL!

The Seattle game is HUGE. If mthe Eagles beat Seattle they go up 2 games on them so they are no threat.Arizona will lose 2 more games so they will end up 11-5 at best. If the Eagles beat Seattle and win there last 2-3 that puts them at 12-4. They win the division on tie-breakers with Dallas even if they lose to Dallas which guarantees them no worse than the 2 seed. There is really noway the Eagles can get the #1 seed without winning out and the Packers losing one.

zilents44

thats’s what I’m saying dagg the packers have a very dangerous bills team fighting for playoff spot in buffalo and detroit will want to have homefield also so they will fight their but off to beat green bay so packers have a tough schedule remaining so if we do win out the 1 seed is definely possible and I think we will get it cuz that d line will destroy the packers o line and megatron is finally healthy so he will want to have a big game

I don’t blame Brady one bit for gods sake ..what was that token passive rush the pats exhibited in GB last two drives..he could have a hot cocoa knit a sweater and throw to an open receiver .that was abysmal…as we had assumed AZ is spiraling …we get to play Seattle on our turf…if we don’t want to have to play them again out west ..we must take care of business…match ups galore in this game to watch …coaches who know one another from the PAC 12 …two defenses ,one seems to have its swagger beating both division foes back to back 19-3 …to be the best you have to beat the best ..winning in Jerry’s world has set the stage for a possible bye ……the red zone issues are glaring for both these teams …who out coaches who? Bill Davis knows this team well…this is for now ..our most important and pivotal game of them all..this team will be standing in our way at the end …best to show back to back A games …and seize control of a bye …

Hold the fort down Sanchez until the starter is, ready

jakdog you are a disgrace. Rooting against the team because you want Foles back in..smh…disgraceful!

Comparing Nick Foles to Aaron Rodgers is by far the most ridiculous thing I have read on this site in a long time! Foles is actually the exact the opposite of Rodgers!

Nowhere near as tough, much weaker arm, inaccurate, nervous in the pocket, immobile and stiff, weak arm, poor leadership, playoff loser.

Foles is a back up at his best and will either be cut or traded
