Report: Joel Embiid Headed For Another Surgery and Will Miss 2015-16 Season

JoelEmbiid15It looks like 76ers center Joel Embiid is likely miss another season, so you’re probably going to need to wait another season to see the talented 7-footer in action. It looks like another surgery will put Embiid on the sideline for the 2015-16 season.

“I would say there’s a great possibility that Embiid won’t play next year,” the source said to Philly.com’s Keith Pompey. “Just think how long they sat him when they thought he was healthy.”

The frustrating aspect of this news is that Embiid was feeling great, when he got the news that his foot wasn’t healing.

“That’s part of what makes this — maybe confusing is the right word — confusing for [Embiid], but confusing because he feels great,” 76ers GM Sam Hinkie told Csnphilly.com. “He says, ‘I can’t believe how good I feel. I’ve felt great for a while. It’s hard to believe something could be wrong.'”

Pompey says a couple of his NBA sources say Embiid is going to have another surgery on that injured right foot.  His right foot is the wrong foot to be depending on, so you’re going to likely see the focus by the team and their fans will be on the development of their healthy young big men Jahlil Okafor  and Nerlens Noel.

Embiid will likely be put to the shelf until he gets healthy.  He won’t be talked about a great deal until he can get on the court.

He’s a tremendous talent and probably the most talented player on the 76ers roster, but will we every see him put that talent to work in the NBA.  Joel Embiid might have as much potential as anybody who has been drafted into the NBA in the last four or five years, but what does it matter if he never shows it on the basketball court.

Personally, I’m not a believer in Embiid.  He has gotten injured a number of times since college without being on the court or getting banged around.   I don’t know that his body is built to play basketball.  I do know his right foot might never get well.

Let him get healthy but I would not count on him in future plans..
Embiid has limited Basketball Experience to begin with, played well in about 1/2 the games he played while at Kansas and has not played a game since..
Move forward without him..
