First of all, don’t book the trip to San Francisco for the Super Bowl just yet. Let’s at least wait until the season starts. This Eagles offense is potent and multi-dimersional, but these preseason defenses aren’t game planning for the hurry-up offense, so they’re making things easier for the Birds now. During the season, it’s not going to be as easy. I think the Eagles are going to be a very good football team, but they’ve got a long way to go before qualifying and winning the Lombardi Trophy.
As for the Packers game, it started with the Eagles Special Teams connecting on the first blow on the Packers. The Birds did a good job blocking for kick off returner Raheem Mostert, who hit the opening then went outside and up the sideline to setup the team’s offense on Green Bay’s side of the field.
The word to describe Sam Bradford’s performance was ACCURATE. He led the Eagles to three touchdowns by completing 10 out 10 throws for 121 yards and three touchdown passes. He dropped his first touchdown pass into the basket of running back Darren Sproles who ran a wheel route up the left sideline. It was an easy catch for Sproles, which is usually the case with Bradford’s throws.
On one throw, Bradford put the ball up high for Jordan Matthews, so he and only he would have a chance to catch it over his smaller defender.
His touchdown throw to Trey Burton was a tough throw because he was staring down the barrel. A blitzing linebacker was coming at Bradford full speed. The Birds quarterback knew he was going to be hit after he let it go, but he stood in their tough, made the throw and took the hit.
That’s not easy to do when you’re coming off of two ACL tears, but it’s part of the job requirement, so it was good to see Bradford pass that test.
In nearly every way, it was an outstanding performance by Bradford, who had nearly a perfect day in only a quarter of play.
I think it’s going to get tougher in the regular season because teams are going to study this offense and be ready for the hurry up style.
RB Murray looked in Mid-Season form too..
TE Trey Burton had a great game and keep the chains moving all night as well as nice blocking.. Burton is probably the most improved Eagle from the WR & TE group.. He just looks quicker, more confident and ready to roll
Eagles DB’s are still a concern as there was a lot of poor Tackling last evening where 8-10 Yard Passes went for Big Plays…
Green Bay packs 74,000 into their stadium. I didn’t realize lambeau field was that large in ticket sales.
