Notes From The Sixers’ 124-112 Loss To Dallas

that3The Philadelphia 76ers lost their 10th straight game on Friday night, falling to the Dallas Mavericks. Their record drops to 15-41.

  • The Sixers had only eight players available for tonight’s game following the trade deadline fallout.
  • The starting lineup consisted of Michael Carter Williams at the point, Thaddeus Young at the four, and James Anderson at shooting guard with Elliot Williams and Arnett Moultrie filling the holes left by Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes.
  • During the first quarter, the game had the makings of another 30-40 point blowout. The Sixers had allowed over 40 points, and were down as many as 22. However, Brett Brown’s group wasn’t going to go down easily tonight. The picked themselves up and fought hard for the rest of the game, pulling to within four in the third quarter.
  • I thought Thad Young was the catalyst for tonight’s comeback. Young picked the Sixers up with three steals in the final minute of the first quarter. Young led the Sixers with 30 points (12-29 shooting), with 13 rebounds, seven steals, and five assists.
  • Its finally time for the Sixers to get a good, long look at Arnett Moultrie. Moultrie had six points with five rebounds and two steals.
  • Tony Wroten came off of the bench to score 21 points, and got to the free throw line for 13 attempts.
  • As a team, the Sixers were dreadful from three-point range, connecting on just 4-25 attempts.
  • The Sixers were outrebounded 46-34.

Final Thoughts

You’ve got to give Thaddeus Young credit.

Young has been sentenced to a lot of bad teams in his career, and if the truth be told, he more than likely wanted to be one of the guys that Sam Hinkie sent packing to playoff bound teams.

But instead, Young was the lone survivor of the deadline purge. But the veteran didn’t complain or hang his head. He put on his Sixer uniform, and continued to come out and play hard for his shorthanded squad.

Sam Hinkie spoke today about Young’s importance to the organization. The general manager said that the franchise is relying on Young more than ever before to take on a leadership role, and set an example for the younger players. And its a role that Young seems to be embracing.

124 mav points, zero sixers blocks
Moultrie went 3-5 fg, 5 total rebounds for 6 points in 31 minutes. LOL! He is blowing his chance to be a 2nd contract NBA guy.
Thad was trying out there but he were torched by Nowitzki as was James Anderson by Marion. Every time Dirk stepped onto the court the lead grew.

I would think that by draft night Thad will be dealt for a player or more picks.. But they may decide to keep him and let him play out the last year of his contract (highly unlikely).. After performances like last night teams, will be salivating come the draft, his worth will shoot thru the roof. Nice game by thad but I feel that hes a goner come draft night…

SN– Thad may not want to be on this team now, but come next season he will, after we get these draft picks and FAs in here..

I see Thad & one of those 2nd around Picks
Traded to get back into the 1st Round for 76ers who end up
With 3 1st Round Selections out of the first 20-22 Players selected which would be awesome

He got star struck and real nervous when he met Marc Zumoff and as soon as Comcast’s TV camera was turned on to do an interview, he pissed his pants and ran back to Deleware
